I would love to see more of 20km videos, I tried doing it few days back with a low calorie diet. It was suggested I shouldn’t do any strenuous workout anyways tomorrow is the last day of my diet and I wanted to look into if it’s normal to get 25k steps and will that help me losing some of my belly fat ,lower body fat.

Yes glad your ok but sounds like you started with too low intake of fluids/hr and it just continued to dig a bigger hole as you went until there was no way back and the last time you sat down and then got up was the last straw! Pretty classic simple overall effect of dehydration just like the soldiers on extended parade stance, eventually some drop like sack of spuds.

Glad your ok now. Thanks for being so vunerable and sharing. 250 ml per hour of water isn't much? Has that worked before? I use 500 per hour in the tassie cold let alone the heat
@RunningAliveАй бұрын
250ml has definitely worked during those temps. At the time I was also urinating every hour. Based on measuring intake and weight loss over months of runs it seemed to match. But with hindsight I didn’t increase to higher levels early enough

Hey, I own a new BC (he is 6 months now), when I run with him, he zig zags infront of my legs which makes it quite hard to run on a constant pace. How did you train her to remain to your left?
@RunningAlive2 ай бұрын
Every single time she went off line I stopped and made her wait next to me. It began with lead work in the backyard, then walking with maintaining the rule. Then onto running.

hey mate just found this video, well done on completing 12 laps on your first one, that is brilliant. when i was running i thoroughly enjoyed the idea of a backyard ultra and decided to give it ago at the same mvp event but in 2022 at 14 years old (now 17). i managed to do 10 laps which was the goal and have never experienced running like that ever before at such a young age. i enjoyed it apart from the late start and that one big hill 😂. due to shin splints later on i stopped running however i’ve always loved long distances and may pick it back up again and hopefully do the same event in 2026

Agreed. I’ve been trail running for 5 months consistently. To be fair, I did dabble last summer & fall. I am 53, female & since April completed my first ever 30k & 3-50k’s. Up next 100k in Nov. My life & years of manual labor built endurance, stamina & determination. I have little spare time to add significant training to my schedule. I go for speed in most of my 1-3hr runs. Intervals 1x per week plus a long run or 18 hrs of work including 50,000+ steps on a Saturday. Sometimes I need 2 days of recovery after those work days, then my runs feel great, so I push. My legs were the most sore after my latest “easier” 30k in August where I pushed it to see how fast I could go (6hrs) vs an 11hr slog at high altitude with 9000’ of climbing. Making the most of my time & prepping the legs for how I would love to run that 100k feels right. Thanks for the insight and sharing your experience.

I love this!! As with many runners I suspect, I have been watching KZbin videos for many years and about 3-4 years ago this huge trend came like a wave over KZbin that you should "keep your long runs slow. Zone 2 or lower, build that engine" and I never really bought into that. I get we don't want to overdue it and we need those recovery miles but we have to force adaptations in the body and the only way to do that is exactly what you said in this video. I think our long runs should be getting up into that race pace category. If we are not going to practice at race pace (or close) how do we expect to go out on race day and perform at that pace. I feel like just in the last 3-4 months the KZbin community is starting to come back around to what you discovered here that it can't all be zone 2. We need to walk that line between intensity and avoiding injury. That's the path to getting better:) Love the video and well done.
@RunningAlive3 ай бұрын
Thanks CP, there’s certainly different ways to get improvement. Your insights into the trends across KZbin is very interesting and you might be right on this. There certainly needs to be some work around race pace… whatever event we’re training for. Thanks for your insights 👍

Thank You so much for this❤ I am not a runner, I'm an artist. A legally blind artist and I have a rare heart condition. I started looking at running videos a few months ago because I was depressed. I was stressed because of my eyesight, and I wasn't able to do the art that I used to do all my life. For a long time, I would look at motivation videos, but for some reason nothing clicked. I needed something out of the box. That is when I came across running videos, trail running, and triathlons. I thought if I could learn a little bit about how they overcome doing hard things, I could apply the same thing to my life. It worked. I started looking at each day like getting from one checkpoint to another. I made a lot of changes but I am far from where I want to be. I am still not doing art as often as I should. To be honest, even though I love it, I never really feel like creating art or do anything for that matter. I understand that I am going through some stuff but your video gave me the perfect key. Discipline. To be able to do things even when I don't feel like it. I totally understand. I need to make a schedule and stick with it. That is how I will win my race. Thank you for this. It was very helpful❤

Good weather? Sorry I gotta go with James, Perth is a thousand times better for running. Hell we had 22 ml rain from Jan to mid May this year. Melbourne had more than that just in May! We have a ton of trails and parks, with lots of easy running footpaths everywhere. Running a marathon along the beach is also feasible in Perth, which I've done a couple times. Melbourne's fine, but it really has nothing on Perth :)

I too run quite a lot. 257 runs in 2023 totalling 3326km, over 76000 metres of elevation gain and some 340 hours spent. That's probably too much to be honest. I could probably run faster if I ran a bit less, but apart from all the great reasons related to physical health, I run because I'm unhappy. Running just helps give me something positive to do. Something to look forward to, and something to make me feel just a tiny bit better about myself.

Hi! I have a 4 months old bc and she is very good except when I start to run beside her. (I know it's to early to go for proper runs, just trying to get her use to it) but she is herding as soon as I start to run...and only when I run. Do you have any advice for this kind of problem?😢
@RunningAlive11 ай бұрын
The main thing I did was ensure she heeled properly when walking first. Then when running if she tried anything like running off or herding then I would come to a complete stop. Make her wait once back in position. Then run again. But I didn’t have to do that much with CC. Only a few times over the first few runs.
