Often, you don't take the time to look around properly. Instead, you move quickly and turn as if you've had too much caffeine, running like a freaking tourist. If you want to survive and avoid constantly reloading the game, take your time. Observe your surroundings, listen carefully, and think strategically. Also, your mouse sensitivity or acceleration seems a bit too high for this game. but this is not a new video so, keep that in mind if you are going to play another Half-Life game next time.

Too much running and gunning. Go slow.

20:20 So, I guess that it's a satire on an unpopular cult classic being dropped during cliff-hanger between story arcs. Like such shows as Firefly, Constantine and Almost Human.

Looking at the story of Max Payne after so many years, I can see now how obviously satirically trashy and deliberately stereotypical it is. No wonder that Sam Lake re-framed it as trashy book series canonically written by Alan Wake who is not a great writer and he knows it, realisation of which gives him depression and author's block which starts the whole Alan Wake story. This free-for-all mission also reminds me of that one mission in Syphon Filter 1 which I highly recommend. Or at least Josh Strife's video about it.

28:38 Outdated? More like 'effective'. Speaking of platforming and suffering, try Celeste, especially the bonus levels and post-game DLC.

17:28 - Cool little detail here, even those dumb turret boxes die once they heard the paradox. So Wheatley is even dumber than those boxes.

Love the :D to :0 that happens when going from seeing the cake sign to seeing the fire. (Also the similar reaction at "we have replaced it with a live-fire course designed for military androids.") Priceless, every time.

Yo I'm so glad that I'm not the only one thinking these visuals and the environmental storytelling is good even for today's standards. It's like for alot I've seen they can't really put themselves in the boots of someone playing this for the first time in '98 where these things aren't as common place in games.

:DDD I love seeing new players have the lightbulb moment when they figure out the solution for each test.

“What do you mean “He’s unstoppable”? You are superior to him in every way that counts. You are better trained, better equipped, you outnumber him at least 20 to 1. Do. Your. Job!” I love how Remedy draws attention to how absurd the game is.

amazing controls you've got ... over my 20+ gaming years i never became a pro, some of the movement here are very tricky for me ... ..this promises to be one of the best playthrough for sure, esp. for first time it is exceptionally rare to see someone so attentive and skilled ..

I've watched a few playthroughs of this game and you grasped the concept of how the portals work faster than all of them. You truly are the pride of subject home town here

In my experience I never had a backseater who had correct information. Every wooden box is breakable in Half-life 1.

Cockroaches AI from Half-Life had better AI than some modern era NPC's AI. You can see it through some videos at YT. They hiding in darkness, fear of light, fear of human, have swarm mechanics and addicted to something than could be EATEN by them. And all this AI from 1998. For a tiny insects.

It is always a JOY to see a truly clueless first timers play such MEGA classics for the first time, blind. HL1 itself is a timeless masterpiece, and absolutely revolutionized the industry. And once you're done with the main game (and its Expansion Pack episodes), there's THOUSANDS of great mods to try out. From minor tweaks, to full blown total conversion GAMES. All in all, the year 1998 was INSANE for games. Tons of literal game of all times -tier masterpieces came out within few months, such as Ocarina Of Time, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Thief, Pokemon R&B, Starcraft ... list goes on. All of them 100% worth visiting and replaying to this day, all of them very different from each other!

52:55 it's funny to see you play like an ADHD online gamer and zoom around at mach speed, missing out on scripted enemy spawns, hidden scientists, and more safe routes (the air vents) like this! Also all those wooden crates left unlooted...

I really didnt like those spoilers at the beginning... what a way to ruin the experience by immediately showing the moment you kill the monster before the viewer has even met it. And in ep3 we dont need teasers and that sort of click-/watch-baiting because we are in ep3....we obviously have been watching for a while and clicked with the intention to continue the journey. Frustrating modern youtube

I started watching these series bc I was feeling some nostalgia for portal 2. I watched some other KZbinr play this from like thirteen years ago and he was sooo annoying and just bad at the puzzles and would get annoyed at glados talking and giving exposition and plot twists and whatnot. So I needed someone else to watch. I’m glad I discovered your play through. You’re great at the puzzles and it’s such a joy to see you genuinely enjoy the game and story!
