I'm always so dissapointed to see other content creators do a berg only round and dissing the short distance that it throws or critisizes the fact that it doesn't fade for shot shaping. The Berg is just a point and shoot approach disc. I like the fact that you sort of have to throw it hard all the time as opposed to powering down on another disc to control the distance, which messes up my timing (I'm not a great player). I used to use the Berg a lot, then switched to a gold-X pure and later an opto-x pure for straight upshots, which throw a bit further than the Berg. But I recently lost them and I still had my Berg lying around, and I'm loving it again. I have a k1 soft Berg, that thing just drops to the ground and sticks like glue! It's such a reliable disc, I just needed to get used to throwing it harder than my pures :D

Spot on... I am not advocating Berg for every shot, but I too wish some folks would appreciate the special niche that it fills in our bag, and be fine not liking it without having to run it down. (I don't think Robbie ran it down, but I have seen others get almost giddy at how much they can dislike the Berg.) Throw what you love and love more than you throw... (might be my new catch phrase. :D) Thanks!
@ivobezuijen2969
@ivobezuijen2969 20 сағат бұрын
@@ogdiscgolfer Yes exactly. I'm not criticising Robbie. Some content creators have made it a vendetta to diss the Berg which I feel isn't deserved. If you don't like the Berg, don't throw it, but just acknowledge that it is a disc that has it's purpose and can do that very well if you like throwing the Berg. Similarly, don't throw a Zone OS and complaint it doesn't hold an anhyzer. Thats just not the disc for that. Doesn't make it a bad disc... I don't mind the occasional meme, but the polarity of the community towards the Berg shouldn't have a place in the (great) discgolf community. Just my 2p. Great video btw. Good luck and have a nice day!

Right on Pete a lot of creators are berg haters and it will give you a complex. I like to throw everything but 8 out of 10 approach shots with a berg usually will result with a tap in. Case in point I made an upshot with my favorite throwing putter praxis and it ended up scooting into the Hillsborough river that looks like iced tea from Debbie and I may find it on a low tide but if I would have used the berg that wouldn't have happened. Lesson learned when a water hazard is in play just use a darn berg.

You win the opening segment bit. Congratulations. There are discs I believe that starters should use (Mako3, River…), but I wouldn’t suggest the Berg to a beginner player. You did a very good job of refuting the arguments made by Robby, without getting personal. Congratulations. (I think the ‘training wheels’ is an innocuous insult, but an insult still the same). I spent years making beautiful origami when my children were younger-it never translated into paper airplane folding. One day. As an undiagnosed ADHD student I learned to sit in the front of the class to avoid distractions. Maybe that is why I could never fold airplanes.

Now you know why I was laughing about your intro comment the other day. Actually, I learned with my ADHD that I actually did better sitting up front... dang it. So now when I go to a church that I am not working in the back AV area, I sit on the front row so i don't get distracted by the rest of the people. I also totally agree with you about beginner discs... and now all I can think about is the pizza commercial where he tries to do origami with box...Thanks!

Putting with the Berg is definitely not for every one... due to the large rim and the lack of glide. I am fine with folks not liking it as a putter, even though it is my main putter switching from the Innova Birdie for my flick putts due to it being less influenced by the wind... but I am weird :D But, just like any other disc, we can get pretty good with enough practice if we get passionate about it. As a Birdie fan I've always wanted a birdie in premium plastic. Have you ever seen one or thrown one? They are super rare and getting one is crazy. Do you have a recommendation besides the Glyph that are great Birdie replacements?
@ogdiscgolfer
@ogdiscgolfer 17 күн бұрын
Never thrown a Premium Birdie... I looked at one on Ebay for $300 and couldn't justify it. I tried the AGL Madrone, but it is closer to a Berg than a Birdie. Robbie C. loves his Polecats and when the Halo version came out I grabbed 3 thinking they could replace the Birdie, but I missed the thumbtrack and felt they were a little less stable right from the start. So I just keep a stock of Birdies ready to go (I have about 30) and will rotate in a newer one when I feel like I need to. I tried to find replacements in regular discs for the flight characteristics, even though the Birdie has a unique flight, I wanted some discs that could fill the slot if needed. So for my Flippy Birdie I could replace it with an R2 Spin from MVP, for my straight Birdie - an MVP Watt, but I keep going back to Birdies. :D The Glyph is basically a Birdie in my opinion... same flight, but the plastic just didn't hold its initial stability any longer than Base plastic Birdie... now I am seeing how long it will stay nice and straight before it turns flippy. It seems to be holding up a little longer, but I have also been out of commission some lately so I haven't been able to put it through its paces as much as I would like.
