WOW! John Mayer just found my G-spot! The blues flows through his veins in some sorta divine way.

I wish Mayer knew how to play and sing without the blues style. Don't get me wrong, he is very talented, but not every song is a blues tune.

Just go over and watch the version from Callbration 1970, crappy video yes, but the music is out in stratosphere , its so fucking good, it MOVES me in ways this version just doesnt come near to doing . This is ok, its perfectly well played , nice solo and Mayer has a decent voice, but it lacks that certain something... the sheer soul and blues chops injected into the song by Jerry and Pigpen . You simply cant replicate that and this band comes nowhere near doing so and sadly, it never really will.

A Break In The Clouds John Mayer I met a man I didn't know that asked me how are you doing Shoulda just said fine cause it's all he wanted to hear But for reasons unknown in a sorrowful tone I said Man it's been a hell of a year And I don't really know where I'm going And I might just be hanging around And I don't really know where I'm going And I might just be hanging around If life's shades of gray Then I guess you could say That I've been waiting for a break in the clouds I went to go see some gypsy to tell me my future But she asked for my photograph instead As I walked through the cold with my fortune untold I said Good luck trying to reach me when I'm dead 'Cause I don't really know where I'm going And I might just be hanging around If life's shades of gray Then I guess you could say That I've been waiting on a break in the clouds That I've been waiting for a break in the clouds I saw the love I used to know swallow me whole On a day I was out of clean clothes She sized me up and she said honey how is your head I said you can't call me honey but honey heaven only knows And I don't really know where I'm going And I might just be hanging around If life's shades of gray Then I guess you could say That I've been waiting for a break in the clouds Bet your gonna be findin' a break in the clouds No, no, no I don't know where I'm going And I might might might just be hanging around And if life shades of gray Then I guess you could say That I've been waiting for a break in the clouds

This is about when you’re just meeting somebody and you’re in your certain role of the relationship - "hey I’m just meetin' ya” - and the other person’s like a vampire and they kind of burrow their way into you and you’re like “what’s going on?” They just move too fast for you, and they’re really snakey, and the next thing you know they’re like, “Ah, I feel so comfortable with you.” It’s like, in 14 minutes? Shit. So this is for all those people that just can’t slow down and accept that you’ve just known someone for a week and it’s a good week and it’ll be a month and that’ll be a year and just take your damn time.“ - John Mayer on this song, July 2004 at his Mountainview, CA show

On a sailboat I am slowly floating nowhere Lost the memories of where I am and why Black ocean churning A million stars are burning Planetariums were right about the sky Once upon a day I set off on a journey Wishing on the wind take me far from home Now I'm on the waves And I'm taking on water, hard to see, I won't always be alone There was a time when all the sun was high and centered on me But it did behind my back and settled down Used to square up with the land used to size it in my hand But it fell behind the line that meets to sky Oh Once upon a day I set off on a journey Wishing on the wind to take me far from home Now I'm on the waves And I'm taking on water, hard to see, I won't always be alone Inside this storm Whipping in the wind, my sail is torn In other words, the hands i'm in are not my own Hard to see I won't always be alone On a sailboat I am slowly floating nowhere Hoping someday I'll wash up on someone else's shore

Sounds so simple but nobody does it like him, I don’t think the haters even listen to how they’re playing themselves… this is just so clean and soulful, it’s not about which notes you play but how you play them, people ignore that too much

Do you ever get the feelin That we started in the middle? Or have you ever had the sense That weve been lying just a little? I mean come on Its not like weve known ourselves that long And i can't say i really blame you for being bored with the beginning Always staring at the score to figure out whos barely winning But dont you know There is a reason strong moves slow And im okay If youre okay with wasting time But when you trace You always see the bottom line We are tracing I hope you know We are tracing And if you want to know the moment I knew that i was still alone I found i never learned your number I only stored it in my phone Youd think by now Id know the shape of calling home

Still is the life Of your room when you're not inside And all of your things Tell the sweetest story line Your tears on these sheets And your footsteps are down the hall So tell me what I did I can't find where the moment went wrong at all You can be mad in the morning I'll take back what I said Just don't leave me alone here It's cold, baby Come back to bed Come back to bed Come back to bed Come back to bed (come on back to bed) What will this fix? You know you're not a quick forgive And I won't sleep through this I survive on the breath you are finished with You can be mad in the morning I'll take back what I said Just don't leave me alone here It's cold, baby Come back to bed Come back to bed Come back to bed Come back to bed You can be mad in the morning Or the afternoon instead But don't leave me 98 and six degrees of separation from you baby Come back to bed Come back to bed Come back to bed Why don't you come back to bed? Don't hold your love over my head Don't hold your love over my head Don't hold your love over my head Don't hold your love over my head Don't hold your love over my head

Although never the best song he's written, there's something about the words, the way it ties in with how I was feeling the first time I heard them, that just cut through to the core of me then, but knows the directions to get back there again and again.
