Just recently got the sapphire preferred card. Got denied online. Decided to go to a local branch instead. On multiple of their credit cards, they had an additional bonus that was only in the branch if you applied at the branch. Better than the advertised online offers. So it's worth a check to apply for these in person.

100%! And I've heard the same! Friends who have applied in branch have been more easily approved. Sometimes the reps there will go above and beyond to help you do so (probably because they get a commission)

Who really uses Uber Eats? I like my food fresh and prepared and served. I don't want to have the order wrong, food cooked poorly...I'd rather drive to the source where I have 100% control. Convenience is hardly a term that can be applied to poor products and poor service.

At a high level, earn with the card that gets you the highest multiplier, transfer those points from cards lke the CFF and CFU over to the CSP, and then redeem through there! Either for 1.25cpp on Chase travel portal, or go through travel partners

@@KevinYang mostly all of them have good offers through the Rakuten or other portals (sometimes I use AA’s portal). I’ve used Chase offers for Factor and Blue Apron - but they are the smallest part of the stack, usually $8-$15. If you’re looking for meal kit deals then I’d go to Cash Back Monitor’s site and see who has the best portal deals. I always try to use the CSP because it gets you 3.1x back after the anniversary bonus. I have a hard time justifying a product change to the CSR because I get so many points and free food through this method.

I just got my Preferred two months ago, it was my second credit card after my Discover It I got when I was 18. I got a really nice offer for a 90k points sign on bonus while I was starting to learn more about maximizing value from credit cards, and coincidentally I was about to spend $6k on a deposit for new windows and siding. I got the Freedom Flex last month, and I'm about to go apply for a Freedom Unlimited tomorrow. I'll cool down once I've got those 4 in my wallet, it's not like I've got much money to spend after dropping all my savings on new siding and windows. Gotta focus on rebuilding my emergency fund. In 2026 my savings will be totally recovered and I plan to visit Japan with some friends. Luckily, I'll probably have enough points to make my flights free!

A great card, if you can get Business is the United Business. Many of the benefits of the explorer. Except better. Pair that gateway as a personal card with this Business card and they give you 5k miles a year. Only x2 but the Business has a $100 statement credit if you make 7 $100 purchases. Tickets for 2 people with seat upgrades could equal 4 of the required 7. Found it easy to reach the credit. Why is the credit important ? If a United point is 1.2 cents a point. it takes $8333 before you would earn more value having a x3 card then the credit that comes with the Business. That's the difference between x2 and x3 point earning vs the credit.. United Business is the card if your spending less than $8333 in flights and only check 1 free bag.

Alaska Airlines miles are way more valuable than most airlines. If you live in Seattle they fly everywhere domestically from here. Business class from Paris on Air Tahiti for 50,000 points. Easy to get Elite status. I am just MVP and am upgraded on a regular basis. Companion Pass easily covers the 95 annual fee. If you don't fly domestically it maybe a one year and done fro the bonus points.
@KevinYang
@KevinYang 12 күн бұрын

Very helpful video. My plan was to get an airline card to build points for partners, mainly those Asian or Middle East airlines. I was eyeing the Alaska Airlines card since I already have points and they are part of the One World Alliance. Albeit, since I'll be more than likely to be flying solo for awhile that companion pass won't get any use. However, I think it's best to get a non-airline card that has those partners, especially since airline cards seem to be devaluing point (e.g., Alaska Airlines devalued Japan Airlines, and the example you gave in the video). I have a mail offer for a Chase Freedom Unlimited, but w/o the welcome offer. I would like to get a hotel card, but as of now I'm not really geared towards a particular brand. I have Hilton points through Lyft and was approved for one of the Hilton cards, but I'll have to think about it for awhile.
