Merry Christmas to Catholics. We are mostly Orthodox. The heirs of Byzantium. That's why we have Christmas later. Catholics! I congratulate you! There are many religions and denominations in Russia, so the holidays are constant.😄 And New Year is a Soviet holiday. Everyone celebrates it. This is one of the two main holidays in Russia. Everyone is having fun. They set off fireworks and hug each other. Good luck, Peace and prosperity, people of the Earth! __________________________________________ С рождеством можно поздравить католиков.

Russian Christmas is named ORTHODOX Christmas. It's not just 'Russian'. And it is celebrated January 7th, because its believed that since calendar has been changed in early 20th century the dates should've been saved from moving. So church has decided that by changing calendar real days when you should celebrate will shift with calendar in order to keep its formal date of dec,25. Christmas is not a shopping. Christmas is a religious holyday. So orthodox Christians shifted date instead of shifting proper day of celebration. So Russian Christmas is not just Russian. It is true Christmas. You celebrate it wrong and actually never celebrate because dec,25 is literally a wrong day. Imagine that someone decides to celebrate your birthday 2 weeks earlier or any other random day. This means never. That's what you've done with Jesus birthday. This Xmas tree is actually deficated to calendar New Year at the first place. Such is a Soviet tradition. There is also an OldStyle New Year at jan,14 which is also celebrated, which is also a Soviet and Orthodox tradition

Thanks for the video! This festival in Moscow is called "Journey to Christmas"! It begins before the New Year and even goes through the Russian Orthodox Christmas on January 7 (according to the old Julian calendar) and continues until January 13-14, when the New Year is celebrated according to the old style (which in Russia is called by a strange name that is incomprehensible to foreigners - "Old New Year" 😊

Russians do not celebrate Anglo-Saxon՚s Christmas!!! Russians celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ on January 7. All decorations, markets and trees you see are New Year's decorations, New Year's fairs and New Year's fir trees... The Birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated by Russians in a more religiously spiritual way... Happy New Year!!!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Most Russians do not celebrate Catholic Christmas, and of course they celebrate Orthodox Christmas on January 7 (according to the Julian calendar), but this festival in Moscow is called "Путешествие в Рождество" ("Journey to Christmas") ! It's just that because of the Bolsheviks, who changed the meaning and calendar, they called the Christmas tree a New Year's tree and because Orthodox Christmas is later than New Year's Eve, that is, the New Year comes first - therefore, all these CHRISTMAS decorations are also New Year's decorations. Christmas is the main holiday here, because the Christmas tree has always been decorated in Russia!

Many foreigners get it wrong when they say something like “Christmas market” about Russia, when in fact it is “New Year's market”. In Russia, Christmas is celebrated on January 7. All of these decorations are for New Year's Eve. New Year is the most important holiday among Russians.

That's an interesting name. However, if you ask Russians about decorations and Christmas trees in cities, more than 95 percent of them will say that they are New Year's. Preparations for the holiday in Russia are also New Year's. In the last 5 minutes of every year, the president of Russia wishes everyone a Happy New Year in his address, no “Merry upcoming Christmas” in his speech. Among foreigners, the common expression “we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year”, in Russia there is no such thing. Среди иностранцев устоявшееся выражение "we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year", в России такого нет.

In the 70-90s, Kazan was the most bandit city. 'The Voice of America', after one armed raid by the most powerful group on a neighboring area, compared Kazan to Chicago in the 30s. Now everything is different, but the criminalized groups remained but they have gone to underground.
