Vashtorr is not the only independent demigod of Chaos. there is one that's always interested me: the Tau have housed a large number of refugees from other species in their worlds over the millennia, including a considerable number of humans, and indoctrinated them in their own ideology. except apparently no other species could quite understand the Tau beliefs the way they were meant to, and instead they were "worshiping" the concept of the Greater Good! this in turn created a creature deep within the Warp, a multiple-armed Demigod who calls himself the Greater Good, and once even entered combat with other forces of chaos to protect his followers! and this is all not counting Malakh or Malice, the "outcast God" of Anarchy who was cast out of the Warp by the combined effort of other chaos gods. the reason he was cast out is very funny though; if you've payed attention, each "chaos" god follows a very strict order in their own rights which they do not deviate from, so attributing true chaos to these guys is very laughable. Malice is the only Chaos God who didn't follow any order or rule whatsoever, and sought to thwart the reign of the gods for good because he believed these guys are phonies! he has very few human followers though since he's been cast out and diminished and can't properly reward his followers. but his followers are the craziest among the crazies!

It is weird that whom ever came up with the lore for Aliens, excuse me tyranids, harp on about leaving empty husk worlds. Do they not understand how biomass is made? Its basically breakdown and mixing of minerals combined with an energy source, such sun light or deep sea vents. There is no reason for leaving a planet. The hive can leave minimally functional organisms absorbing sun light and breaking down planet. Even at the point where specific minerals might become depleted, interplanetary travel is apparently so low cost in terms of energy the Aliens, sorry Tyranids, could just transfer between planets, comets and asteroids belts. The most coherent remanent of a systemic Tyranid invasion is probably partial Dyson spheres, increasing surface area of energy absorption and thus enabling faster biomass production.
