LP’S should be banned, but we can’t stop there, rates need to go up so O/O can survive and new truck prices need to drop. But the biggest thing government needs to stop subsidizing mega cariiers

Nowadays there are many companies who will lease a truck with affordable monthly payments. Not ridiculous 1500 weekly.

I met 2 drivers that completed lease purchase and got the truck. 1st driver from werner after putting in over 1.2 million miles. 2nd driver not saying company name let him pay off truck early and last week company gave him bill of sale waiting on Chicago for title. But lease purchase is 100% scam.

Lease purchase programs are a scam at the expense of the driver and a way for companies to get out of paying taxes. This unfair labor practice needs to be done away with expeditiously.

Lease purchase program itself is not the problem. Its the extremely cheap pay the carriers offer to the driver. If pay was good then making payments on a truck shouldn't be any issue.

I’m not saying this lease purchase programs are the busting in the world but you know they should concentrate on the predatory loans that these dealerships and base are given out 30 35-40% interest rates on semi trucks and how do you expect people like not to lose your truck with those kind of loans It’s like they’re doing everything they can every single time a company figures out how to make money in the industry they try to put another barrier up so you can’t get through and only want the mega carriers to be loved. That’s what it looks like to me.

I’m currently in a lease purchase. I’ve done them before and yes a lot are very predatory and will cause you to go bankrupt. My first lease purchase was with CR England. They paid by the mile and after all the “expenses” I barely made more than the company driver pay with all the expenses and then the ballon payment was ridiculous.i never got to see what the rate con or had any say in refusing loads. I left before I was too far into it. Now I’m currently in a lease purchase program with the company I’m currently working with. They pay percentage of the line haul and fuel charges. 2023 I grossed $350,000 and took home $120,000 as a solo driver that’s good pay. After October my semi truck will be paid off with no ballon payment and a pay increase of $48,000 per year take home bumping my take home pay to around $168,000 per year. That’s very good income. I see all rate cons and can ask for more with absolutely no forced dispatch. So I’m curious how this might affect my situation

If it's old school leased equipment like for construction equipment 1 monthly payments like a bank loan is OK. But these crazy leased payments every week 3,000 dollars a week, it's ridiculous. The only reason to do these leases is to make more money per mile. Lease purchase driver $1.20 - 1.80 a mile. Double your money. .You make more then a company driver making .50 cents a mile as company driver. So yeah lease purchase makes more per mile. Why work for pennies a mile as company driver. Both are company drivers. What's not to understand more pay is better in your pocket. Stay for a bit and safe your money up, then leave go get your truck and trailer. Sucks that they pay is lower then 1990's when cost of living double with Mr. McGoo Biden in office. Time for trucking companies to step up to pay standards, 40hr work week, with overtime.

TQL isn’t ripping anyone. Stupidity of trucking companies, specifically ignorance of drivers - is the reason why TQL is filling up own pockets. As they should. If stupid drivers refuse to work for above minimum wage - they should be taken advantage of.

how tricky is it to get an authority set up while operating as a leased on owner op? any idea how much flatbed experience required to get insured at the carrier level? i don't have flatbed exp. in class A but ideally want to be set up for flatbed with an authority. have considered running for a flatbed company while an authority ages... any thoughts? appreciate it. you would be first on our list for a dispatcher!

It would be a bad situation. I have paid truck & trailer and still refuse to get back in. I tried get get going. Progressive, who offered my ins for $8k a yr 18 mos previously, and refuse to quote me ins at all a yr ago. Another ins quoted me $24k a yr ago.i refused to pay that much.😮 This was just a yr ago. Then I went to a trucking acquaintance & he gave me a referral whereby I got a quote for $14k a year, even at this price it's to much risk compared to loads I see at $1.80 on load boards and you can't trust what you see on the load boards bc the Load Boards allow brokers to post the same load many times, imagine that. How can you plan under those currcumstances! 😮
