It would be funny to see the look on your buddy’s face when you start eating the beads and they don’t know you made them. If the traditional jello flavors don’t end up working for fish I was thinking you could boil some anise seeds and shrimp in water then strain them and let it cool before putting plain gelatin and food coloring in it.

In Oregon I think soft plastics like steelhead worms and soft beads are considered bait that’s why you can’t use them on the deshcutes. You’d have to go with yarn, corkies, and hard beads. So these would be fine wherever bait is allowed. Idk how other states do it tho 🤷‍♂️

We the fishermen have been denied our world class fishing by the odf. We pay so damn much to fish Oregon for such a weak fishery compared to the past. I got 40yrs of fishn under my belt and it has gotten much more difficult these days. Oh also dont be that guy on the river and think one snagged keeper fish is ok or that leader thats a foot to long is ok. Seeing way to much on my home rivers and 2025 will be the year i dont call you in and get no help from OSP. Just sayn no real fisherman breaks the regs. See yall on the river. ✌️🇺🇲

Good point on more people, less fish. Look at the Hood River.. used to have fabulous runs of both winter and summer steelhead stocked with big creek wonters and skamania summers. They do not stock steelhead any longer in Hood River. Huge mistake as it had good survival rates. ODFW at it's worst. Same story on many rivers cutting or stopping programs for steelhead.

Used to fish the Alsea in the 80's. Way different scene now. Social media has taken its toll. Sharing verbally with a couple friends is one thing. Broadcasting to the world is way different. Steelhead typically get lock jaw after seeing a couple offerings. I would say there's an inverse relationship between numbers of fishermen and success rate, especially on smaller streams. It's a zero sum game. Try finding streams with only wild fish. Fewer crowds, and I don't care to Steelhead anyways. It's about having a quiet experience.

I spent pertnear every weekend until 1990 in and around Alsea, breaks my heart a little bit to see how things have changed. I am not going to bitch about it, that would be tilting the windmill. Just saying, things were much better pre-internet. In the past you were either local, had family that was local or friends that were local, or learned to behave like you were local.

@jacttackle57 I think it's best we lead them to resources, help them with methods and techniques, lead them to the ODFW fishing report website, and encourage them to get help from someone they know that fishes. But to just go to popular high pressure areas and make a video telling them to come fish here is really a bad approach and will greatly upset the local fishing community. I personally know of several local people that are already upset about it because most youtubers do follow that unwritten rule. Like I said, you do what you want to get followers, but I believe it's pretty rude to make a video like this. Have fun and I hope you get lots of steelhead from your drift boat.
