The tips are really cool and helpful but just seeing whatever model you're demonstrating with makes this worth the watch. They're such cool sculpts ToT

I think it was a mistake making them a playable race in the game. Before they were playable in inquisition and vailguard they were mysterious and unique after they became playable they just became horned humans and were bland

3dsmax has this as well, but you have the option to follow the edge flow curvature so it puts the edge where the subdivided version would be, not just smack in the middle.

I agree the Qunari from DA2 is the best one in my opinion it stands apart from the other races, looks intimidating and even alien. Qunari from Veilguard are just cosplayers to me.

Once you've used Edit Edge Flow once, you can double click a loop to select it and hit the G key to repeat Edit Edge Flow. So double click - G and repeat :)

thats bad. you've just lost a whole lot of sculpt detail by doing that. the purpose of cleaning edge loops is to make sure you dont have geometry that collapses into awful shapes. Not to make it look like a poly-sphere.
@FlippedNormals
@FlippedNormals Күн бұрын
You can just snap it to the grid again and it’s fine again but with much cleaner loops

and if you want to do retopology in Blender I recommend the addon RetopoFlow, which is free if you're a student, teacher, or aim to use it solely for personal use and not commercial. It's really intuitive.

Or just use any sculpting tool and press ctrl+shift+lmb to relax your topology. You can also do it in quad draw tool by pressing B to activate soft selection and shift to activate relax brush.

I think Blender's built in Loop Tools addon works similarly? It has a feature called Relax that seems to do a similar thing

@FlippedNormals
@FlippedNormals 14 сағат бұрын
Not quite, relax simply relaxes the geo (averages them) while Edit Edge Flow puts the current loop in between the ones surrounding it. Both are great, but for different purposes

if u want not to lose the shape, better way of doing this is using a package like Wrap4D and using relax tool in there .very powerful tool.

You can also easily get the shape back using the Quad Draw tool with Soft Select enabled. Simply how down the Shift key and tap once. Really handy, combined with Edit Edge Flow. You get clean loops that fits the background mesh

You can paint normal maps you just got to do the colors separately and understand normals very well. Its hard though so most of the time you want to generate it unless its for something easier to paint, and theres reason to paint it.

All races look like humans in DA:V. It's so lazy. In the previous games, the Elves had elongated, pointy faces with wide set eyes and a very slender body compared to the humans. The male dwarves also had a certain look to them. Same for the Qunari. But now they all look like humans. It's peak lazy.
