In my opinion, Daz is a great tool for introducing 3D to complete noobs or hobbist. I started using Daz 9 or 10 years ago not for final 3d renders but for 3d references for my illustrations. As a starting point Daz figures can be very helpful; they won't solve all your problems, if you want to get the most out of them you still need to know sculpting, anatomy, modelling and texturing. When you think of Daz assets as complements, not subtitutes, you can create very interesting stuff.

Daz 3D took the ideas of Poser and made them a bit more modern. They were lucky not to be handed off to a bunch of companies that didn’t know what the heck to do with a 3D app. That was Poser’s biggest problem. Daz has made the digital Barbie a far more versatile option than Poser did or could have.

Introducing new 3d modelers to Daz 3d is like putting a child in a wheel chair who’s not disabled and having them use it all the time. People in the design world need to be challenged. As a student of Gnomon and other design schools. Z brush is difficult but that’s why it’s great it makes you better! Just my opinion.

It's also not the only program I use, I also have C4D, Blender and Poser, as well as other small programs for various things. All programs have their pros and cons, I simply don't value one over another, they all have their uses. I don't agree with the bad rep Daz gets, it's useful for a lot of things, people just refuse to give it a chance, preferring something that does the work for them, instead of actually learning how to do anything in 3D. I learned from scratch, not from just clicking buttons.

Daz from years ago is not the Daz of today, how about seeing what it's like now before making a judgment about what it's like now. Also lets not forget the vast amount of free content out there, including that offered by Daz and Renderosity on special occasions, something you don't see much of with Maya, C4D and other large popular software.

I cannot believe anyone is still using Daz in 2024?! They must be paying you both substantially to promote such an outdated piece of software. Look at it! Look at the UI, look at the same generic "genesis" models that they've been (re)using for almost two decades. There is so little variation between figures that it's *instantly obvious* when someone has used Daz. Look at the quality of the 3D models in their store, mediocre at best. This video just highlights that FlippedNormals clearly needs another pay day from Daz. I hope sacrificing your credibility is worth it?
@jasminecaulden10894 ай бұрын
Mediocre, really, guess you should go on the forums and tell Stonemason and AlphaSeed that, you know them, 2 vendors who also make content for top selling games, which is the same quality as what they sell in the store. As for each generation of models. hate to burst your bubble but they are not upgrades of previous versions, but entire new models, which is why you can't share clothes, morphs and textures between them without scripts to do it.
@CoreyJohnson1934 ай бұрын
I agree with the mediocrity comments, but the tools are very good for specific tasks. Sometimes, I don't need to create a model, I just need the character and the poses. Expensive, yes. But, it makes generative projects much faster since you can create depth, canny, and edge maps with ease using the renders. I wish they would make it more useful, but then it would be $300+ like Character Creator, I suppose. And it's getting a resurgence, but possibly not a deserved one...

@@jasminecaulden1089 It's unfortunate that you seem so deeply offended by a differing opinion. 😂 "Stonemason and AlphaSeed"? No sorry, I don't know them. Which AAA games do they make content for? Oh dear, you've really been brainwashed into the whole Daz hard sell haven't you? Either that, or you're one of those sellers on there who very slightly alters the genesis models so that Daz can sell it 'again' for yet more profit. I hate to burst *your* bubble, but the reason why the cloths, morphs and textures aren't interchangeable between genesis models "without scripts", is so that *Daz can make even more money!* Are the scripts free by any chance? No, I didn't think so! 😂 Anyway, if you believe that the Daz models are of super high quality, then hey... you do you.

@@dynamic5109 And what company doesn't want to make money, only an idiot would assume otherwise. I never said anything was super high quality, only that it's not as bad as you're making it out to be. Daz3D offers NOTHING of value to CG professionals in the gaming & animated film industry those “genesis” models are useless once exported out of the base program where they are enhanced by proprietary joint correction and HD morphs that wont export to anywhere else. Even after you export a daz figure to Maya or max you need to re-rig the figure with a proper human IK control rig for animation because the Daz software is a kiddy toy app for posing and rendering still images with the OLD,DUMB brute force path tracer (Iray) that does not even support your RTX cards. Daz is rapidly losing its core user base of still image portrait & pinup, NSFW makers to generative AI which does such stills ALOT better than Daz studio without even needing a local GPU. and the popular NSFW animations are largely done with video game ripped Characters re-rigged with the source film maker game engine or Blender. People in the Maya, Blender,C4D community have known about DAZ for decades they just don’t care for good reasons .
@jasminecaulden10894 ай бұрын
