One of the first concerts I ever attended. In the Nashville area, at the Hippodrome. His first number was Tightrope and I remember Baby Jane brining tears to my fifteen year old eyes.

I hitchhiked from Vancouver, BC, Canada to see this concert. Slept in the parking lot and bought a scalped ticket. I was about 6 rows back front and centre on the floor. I was 15 😮😮😮 Old me is concerned for young me lol I still have the ticket stub. We thought it was going to be the last Rollong Stones concert because they were so old 😂

12/5 was my late brother's birth date. He was the guy that turned me on to Leon and his music. And when this popped up in my thread, it immediately brought tears to my eyes. Two of the finest kind,my brother and Mr Russell, and I miss them both very much! Thank you, Mark...for being my brother, and thank you Leon for your talents!

For the 1996/97, Zola was the final piece of the jigsaw and if Chelsea hadn’t signed him they most certainly would never have won the 1997 FA Cup which was the launchpad for the three trophies that followed. I agree with you 100% regarding Leeds and Ridsdale and I would rather see us live within our means and finish in the top six season in and season out as well as challenging for trophies. Leeds actually started borrowing heavily from the banks as far back as 1999. This I believe was in part to one of the conditions O’Leary laid down when he was offered the job in 1998 that money would be available to strengthen the squad. Players like Ferdinand and Viduka may have added value to the squad, but there was no need to sign the likes of Fowler, Keane, Duberry (even though he was good at Chelsea) and Johnson who were paid for through excessive transfer fees and would all be on incredibly inflated salaries. In the end, only Ferdinand was sold at a profit and the others were sold cut price just to get them of the payroll , never mind having to pay the banks back both the money they owed and the escalating interest. I’ve never been a fan of Ken Bates, especially after his ill fated spell at Leeds, when the club were at their lowest ebb ever. But in 1983 under John Neal and Ian McNeill’s management, players like Dixon,, Niedzwiecki, Spackman, Nevin, and McLoughlin (added to Paul Cannoville in 1981 and David Speedie in 1982) were all unknown quantities signed for next to nothing that helped transform the Chelsea’s fortunes by helping them get promoted to the top flight after a five year absence. The expansion of the UCL in 1997 did spell the beginning of the end of the CWC. But the UCL (together with the EPL) has also had a detrimental effect on the UEFA Cup, the FA Cup and EFL Cup. If you look through the 90s, the competition was won by big spending clubs like Sampdoria, Man Utd, Parma, Barca (as you mentioned), Chelsea and Lazio.

Ron sounds like a mix between Rod and Bob D. If Rod was there and the guitars were in tune which they're not, it would've been pretty good. Stanley's great but the wrong player and sound for this band.

My favorite compared to the box set version, vocals sound more raw in this version. The other version isn't bad, just sounds a little too processed for my liking. Just my opinion.

I feel so blessed to have been alive while we still had real artists like Leon Russell. There will never be another voice like his. He had that southern gritty sound, while at the same time sounding so soulful. Miss you Leon. RIP sir. ❤
