Fuck yeah! Bled to Death! I was at the 10/23/99 Maritime Hall, SF and my friend taped. Glad to hear this cuz it deserved a proper recording. Shame it wasn’t completed and released. Was heavy as fuck live.

CR sounds absolutely awful. Generic riff from Rich. They sound like 14 year olds in a garage band on that one.

Pre-production for their 5th album, 'By Your Side' began in December 1997 with songs that later underwent substantial revision or were dropped altogether. Early versions of "HorseHead" and "It Must Be Over" were recorded at this point, and a reworked riff from "Every Little Bit" and some lyrics from "Tickle Tickle" were later incorporated into "Heavy". Some of the songs were ultimately dropped, such as "Baby" and "Bled to Death", and were later rewritten by Rich for his debut 2004 solo album, 'Paper.'

I've been a fan of the Crowes since the beginning. I've heard a lot of bootlegs, but never heard Bled To Death or a few of these other ones before... Thanks to Steve's book for making me look it up - and thanks for having it posted!

Gorman is massive on the last track! I would love some old school box of all 94-97 sessions or unreleased material, some of the best shit ever.

Amazing how CRs voice was a monster for all of the 1996 and 1997 tours, and it just sounds so strained and frail here by comparison. Out West is the best of this bunch, but that's not saying much. CR and RR"s songwriting disconnect started right here and it hasn't recoverd fully in 25 years.
