I saw her perform this live in 1974 and it still puts tears in my eyes when I hear it today. It is so sad that modern audiences have no idea of what an awesome talent she was and one of the greatest female vocalists ever!

There are actually a good many "reaction" videos out there to Linda's songs. Her "Long Long Time" was played at the end of the film "The Last of Us" and got the attention of millions. I'm not a big fan of "biopics" except that they lead people to research the person depicted; Selena Gomez supposedly signed on to play Linda in a film produced by the individuals who made her 2019 documentary.

I believe this was an promotional concert for "Heart like a Wheel" since it had just come out a few months earlier and it can also be argued that if Linda would have had todays music on demand, Amazon downloads ect ect ect she could have been bigger than Elvis the Beatles or any of todays BIGGEST stars...remember those 100million albums she sold had to be bought in the store ie: Tower Records and she had a HUGE fan base...prayers for Linda...amen

I love her voice, her mannerisms her looks and I just take it all in and marvel. She is the perfect singer, artist that I've seen in my 55 years on this earth.

Appreciate all these thoughtful, heartfelt comments. This performance so poignant then, especially so now. The voice, achingly beautiful and the lyrics so movingly wistful and prescient. Love her simple, unadorned look here, too, with the familiar comforting presence of her longtime "mates," Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards. Ms. Ronstadt always said it took her ten years to learn how to sing; well, if she arrived in L.A. in 64, her voice here was in full flower. I think of this song and her final recording of "All I Know" with Jimmy Webb as bookends to her storied and kaleidoscope of a career." What a legacy she has left us!

She was and is otherworldly, the only woman who could bring to tears just by her singing a song. I spend way too much time listening to her but i just can't seem to help myself. I know she said she is a practicing atheist , but i have enough faith for both of us that the God of this universe who created such a beautiful creature as Linda has enough power to allow us to all live again after these tired old human bodies are dust.

That's Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards singing and playing with her.
@bookguitarguy5 жыл бұрын
Kenny Edwards was with her since the late 60s when they were in the Stone Poneys. Not sure when Andrew Gold joined her-1973 or 74, I'm guessing. Her solo career started in 1971 and somewhere betw then and 1973 several of what later became the Eagles did in fact play and sing harmonies behind her (backup band). That included Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and i think even Randy Meisner at some point(?)... though not always at the same time, necessarily. It's a good bet that if not for Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles would have never come into existence as a band as we know them (if at all)--they learned how to play together behind her (and work on their harmonies). Music fans owe a lot to Linda, and she helped the careers of many unknown artists by covering their songs also (Emmy Lou Harris, Warren Zevon, Anna McGarrigle and others). Hope that helps!!

@@bookguitarguy It did help! Thank you. Not to romanticize about the past, but the stars must've been alignment back in the day in Laurel Canyon. These young, creative, free-spirited, talented singers, musicians, songwriters found "affordable housing" and something organic happened. The Troubadour and their living rooms "after hours" were like petri dishes in a laboratory that grew songs and music that defined a generation and an era.
