i dont get why people say it doesnt count if its foul hooked dont get ne wrong i think snag fishermen are the worst but isnt fishing just trying to get a fish? why does it matter if it bit or not?😊

The steelhead trout in lake Erie do this kind runs all the time. I had one two months ago on my Rockaway SP do the same thing hooked in mouth on spoon. The hook bent when some one went to net for me. I Lost the fish.

I fished the Calissa 140 a couple times and caught a nice 18-20" halibut. It's a suspender that's supposed to dive 1-2' like the 110 but I can say it dives a bit deeper and hits the bottom in the surf more than the 110. I'll have to try this new Lucky Craft. Hopefully it's not more expensive than the 110.

Since you practice CPR So how about changing out all the treble hooks for single hooks on the lucky craft lures or file/pinch down the barbs on those treble hooks. It would be alot easier to let them go. Happy Fishing!

Everyone I know reacts with horror when I tell them I love croaker because they think croakers are toxic. I say tell that to the ospreys -- they eat nothing but fish and from what I see croaker are at the top of their menu, yet I see them thriving and nesting, looking bright an strong and otherwise leading exceedingly healthy, beautiful lives.
@legitbetterthanvinny97257 күн бұрын
smaller-medium croaker are fine off the beach. The bigger 5+ pound spotfin, especially the ones that live in the harbors, are a bit sketch
@PizzaRollsGod6 күн бұрын
Croaker is fine to eat but that's not a great comparison. The ospreys eat it raw but you can't do that safely, there are many animals that can eat things that are poisonous to us but fine for them

So, I just got in a rock away sp and paired it with a Shimano FJ 3000 reel. I noticed that it is fairly tip heavy….do you guys use any lead tape or something similar to balance it out? I mainly fish Florida and NJ during the summer, but will use this outfit for NJ fluke off the beach.

Howdy Benji!!!! Been following your channel for a bit; I had a rodeo in January in San Diego so I drove down from Vegas and decided to surf fish for the first time at Torrey pines and walked away with only 5 surf perch in two days. Is there a beach that you find is consistent for halibut from shore
@BenjieKimFishing16 күн бұрын
Hi there! Thanks so much for the comment and the support, really appreciate it. Bummer on the slow bite that you experienced. The truth is that even the best beaches have ebbs and flows and while I wish I could say that there's a beach that's truly consistent ie hitting like fire whenever we go out...that's simply not the case. Torrey Pines, while it is a well known stretch of sand, is actually an outstanding option for SoCal surf fishing...halibut included. Some weeks can be absolutely wide open. Other weeks it can seem completely empty. This is the reality for every single stretch of sand. And if there is a beach that is ALWAYS hitting, I'm definitely not aware of it. It's really tough if you're from out of town because you're basically at the mercy of whatever the bite might be when you're there. I experience the same conundrum when I fish up north a couple times each year. I've had epic bites as well really, really tough weeks. I do hope that you're able to give it some more shots whenever you're near the sand...perhaps that next one will be one for the memory books. I apologize that's not too much help, but hopefully it provides a little insight based on my personal experience. Tight lines.

@@BenjieKimFishing THANKS BENJIE!!!!!! So it’s not that Torrey pines isn’t a productive beach it’s just like any fishing and it’s whether it’s the right time. I’ve fished my whole life and considering it was my first time surf fishing I’m happy that I even walked away with those 5 little surf perch. And yes it does put a damper when I live 5 hrs away in Nevada but maybe next time I’ll get lucky and get maybe a Corbina or even a halibut
