2nd commentary after i finished watching the video (xd don't ask why there was a break of 6 hours i got distracted by real life stuff) i myself relate to Siffrin a lot; not just because of the mindset, but also because.. the experience; now i myself never experienced time looping-but in my past.. i did experience repeat. after repeat. after repeat. of certain events; no matter how many times i tried to fit in. they still repeated. no matter how many times i changed. they still repeated. no matter how good or bad i was in general i still kept going through them over and over again-being unable to bond with others closely, going through bullying and discrimination, being heartbroken, things like that; over. and over. and over. and over. and over-so to me, Siffrin feels very relatable on a deeply personal level, as they feel like they represent very well how i used to be in the past, before i myself was eventually broken from the "loop" that was my past

I stuck around! I listened through it all because In Stars and Time is the best thing to exist and I love hearing how people experience it differently

Charlie’s Inferno is such a great song that is very often used especially in TikTok edits, but no one ever talks about it which makes me confused since it’s so widely used.

I don't know if I like the fact that my brain is just addicted to ISAT, I watched two videos on it yesterday (100% completion video, then a summary video, both from the same person, and yes in that order). The entire story message just resonates with me way too much and I had a mental breakdown yesterday due to it. The vibe of, I don't want people to dislike me and thinking about every action I do not wanting to squander this good thing I got going. Knowing that I'll probably just be alone for the rest of my life, yay mental health and social anxiety. Even though ive watched now 3 hours worth of ISAT long form videos I still want to buy the game and play it knowing I 100% wont play it, because hey I got the message I saw the story, I read the dialouge, might be like FNV though where it's still worth playing but that's a later decision that I'll forget. I both find it funny how the ISAT is over 70% of the video and it fits, it allows you to reference to stuff, allows you to put in good humor referencing previous segments that some people might've zoned out on (so siffrin), and by the end it tied up well, with the stuff about limbus not being too far behind that you forget about it, there 100% was still whiplash but 8/10 video. tldr: overly personal vent that is +1 engagement because I like how you made the video

this video was fantastic, and a wonderful new perspective on isat for me. though i feel theres some additional similarities to point out when it comes to twohats. (spoiler warning for that) - - - ahab insisting that she and ishmael are one in the same due to their shared obsession, thanks to what ahab has molded her into, as ahab guided ishmael's actions for so long... loop and sif quite literally being the same, with loop's guidance helping siffrin through the loops... both loop and ahab breaking when they realize that THEY did not get the ending THEY felt THEY deserved. thanks to ishmael/siffrin having dante/loop to guide them on the right path. i'm not good at phrasing things like this, but there's DEFINITELY something there (i havent watched the directors commentary yet so theres a good chance you talk about this there but idk, i really want to get this off my chest)

I came here after completing In Stars and Time and began searching it up, to see if the thing that caused me to cry and fall apart so many times affected anyone else. That's not why I've stayed. I stayed because of how clearly how clearly you shared the feelings I had and how clearly you replicated them. This was well crafted, you've made a good video.

my first playthrough of ISAT took 330 hours. i skipped almost no dialogue, barely skipped forwards or backwards, and had a friend who kept POINTING ME TOWARDS DEPRESSING EVENTS. i played it completely unspoiled by anything but my own theorizing (ended up figuring loop’s deal before it happened). it was an awesome experience.

I don't think you understood Siffrin as a character. At no point does he view his behavior as a means to an end, doing anything to escape, quite the opposite actually. If he believed this, he would, 1. Talk to his friends about the loops even if he was uncomfortable, because his uncomfortableness was a means to an end 2. He wouldn't play along perfectly with his "script" in fear his friends sense something off 3. Spend any more than one loop not going through the castle, Etc. The only time siffrin does something "Means to an end" like is the quick loops and Act 5, both of which are his lowest moments, and presented as symptoms of his emotional unavailability and trauma, not the main problem. Idk the other game you talked about cuz i'm not trying to get a gambling addiction.

If this was a generic JRPG then Mira definitely would be the protagonist. But this is mainly Siffrin’s story. But I like to think what if Siffrin worded things differently or wished for something then everything would of been completely different

Spoilers and opinions ahead for In Stars and Time: Odlie's sidequest was the only worthwhile sidequest ability to repeat in my experience. Making enemies vulnerable to any craft type makes the midbosses/King so much easier to deal with. Speedblitzing this way feels very in-character and meta. My turns were going fast to the point that i couldn't trust that an enemies' attack would come faster than Mira's next turn, which led me to being OHKO'd by the King in one loop bc I setup her friendquest skill. Isabeau is a close second, only because I didn't bother to check if it stacks with regular stat buffs ~~ I considered Sifren not necessarily as the leader, but the rouge of the party. Sifren is the second to last member of the party, and isn't there for type/craft coverage purposes (at least not at the start), but to "find traps" and crack jokes; Which was later proven the party was capable of doing themselves, for the most part. For a related example of a Rouge, see Chilcuck (Delicious in Dungeon). ~~ I never considered the dagger as an option, but maybe that's because I'm well aware of attempt statistics... Not through personal or related experience, mind you. ~~ I have two criticisms with the Epilogue: - Sifrin doesn't admit to the party what's left of his home. All the talk about going home was clearly triggering his loops subconsciously, so why not say the quiet part out loud? He had no direction without the party to ground him. I was expecting him to try to utter it's name in an attempt to disorient the party and escape at most. - the Reflect and anti-TimeCraft abilities. The former was hinted at throughout the game, while the latter 100% feels like a deus ex machina.

At the time of writing this, I had just finished playing In Stars And Time about 6ish hours ago. It was possibly the greatest experience I have had with a game since Omori. The little snippets into Siffrin's views of themselves are so crucial, hinting all that time what he really wants. Yet they are unaware of it in some level. He hates to be seen, he is surprised whenever he is touched, he fears being forgotten, he fears being alone. He wants family. That's what he knows on the surface, but those feelings come from deeper, from Home Sickness, a home he can't even recall, parents and friends he can't recall. He can't recall their touch, he can't recall eating malagna fritters their parents made to the point of being sick, he can't recall eating fish with their friend, he can't recall his parents gifting him his cloak and hat that grows with him and keeps him comfortable. He can't recall the night he got mad about being given veggies and running away on a boat as an act of rebellion. He can't recall rowing back home, only to suddenly lose the memory of what happened afterwards. He recalls waking up on a beach. Where is he, who is he, where does he come from, did anyone ever love me. He stands alone at the beach, looking over to a spot in the ocean, where something is missing, but it hurts to think about. He cries, but nothing comes out of it, so it is a waste of time. If they are able to forget their family that easily, then what stops it from happening again, to themselves. Are they even real if they don't remember their own childhood? He wants someone to hold him, to confirm he is real, but what if he isn't? What if he is fake, what if he is forgotten, their existence is pointless, pointless. Even if Siffrin doesn't remember, the lack of memories of their childhood still shapes him as a person, makes him real. But he gets so hanged up on making his life have meaning, or at least have any effect, by spending every moment making others happy. And just maybe, they won't leave, like everything else did.
