You’re very sweet but this very basic and yeah, time changed things. I’ve sold on Etsy but only to a k own collector and once to a German collector. I underpriced and often lost money. The post office stole a few pieces too! And no “serious” gallery is going to take an artist whose name is on Etsy or Shopify. Both platforms are saturated too! insta changes its model from content creation to influencer. So it’s very hard and I don’t find this video helpful even to those beginning. A website is indispensable, again, if one puts prices & even the word “for sale”, etc, Might get you low range collectors buying sometimes but it won’t land anyone a good reputation for gallery representation. Only people who sell for many many thousands of dollars. The other video of pricing was only helpful to very beginners. A person already at your level won’t get much out of this.

Not sure exactly if you understood my video. I was very clear that this video was how I become a full time artist, so natural that means I explained where I started. Etsy is where I started and I also explained that was in 2008. So I think it goes without saying that things have changed since then. Also I don't think you understand that Shopify is not a place like etsy or ebay. Shopify is a Ecommerce platform that I use as my website, sooooo that is impossible to be saturated AND I'm also represented by several galleries in Canada, USA and Internationally. Also one last point....I sell for artwork for a good price....Thousands. Perhaps instead of saying this video isn't helpful you should do a bit more research so you have a better understanding of a few things. I also wouldn't say that I'm "very sweet"....I would say that I have great business sense and a creative mind. 😉

You’re a treasure. Thank you for sharing with us your true feelings, thoughts, and emotions as you physically take us through your process of painting really interesting works. Showing the vulnerability is relatable. We don’t all have great painting days (and even your bad days are still really good) yet we stay in the game because we love it. Sometimes the piece that isn’t working becomes at a later date the gem of the collection. I, too, work on multiple canvases not just for trying time but to revisit with fresh eyes. Overworking can be such a drag but I feel like we do that because there is that chance that something is going to happen that works. It’s all part and parcel of creativity. I’m so glad there’s someone out here on KZbin keeping it real. You’re fabulous. Thank you ❤

The biggest problem I always see is the competition. There are so many artists who underprice their work, often WAY underprice their work. Lots of ditzy artists who are just so happy being an “artist” and that’s all that matters, and some of them do quality work. They’re often not even making minimum wage, especially when you consider the work they’ve done that doesn’t sell added into their labor. I’m not going to play the game. The same people who buy art will pay a plumber $200 to come over and spend less than an hour to unclog their toilet. They dignify him for his skill and time, so they will equally dignify my skill and time, or they don’t get my work. I price my work on how good I think each piece is and the price I think such a piece should command, nothing else. Pricing by square inch sounds absurd. I can easily put more work into, and create a piece significantly better, than a piece three, four, five, times its size. I start my approach to pricing at the bottom baseline of my dignity and self-respect, and yes, I do sell.

Hi, Does rolling damage the paintings with heavy texture? I have a huge painting that’s heavily textured and the shipping cost is a lot so I was wondering if I can ship it in roll form

Thanks Lori! I am new to your site. On Instagram how do you, deal with people who are making remarks "I like your work you are so beautiful let's be friends!" I usually delete but it doesn't help grow my site. Carla

Greatly value the trio of very much smaller paintings of yours which I bought some years ago. They are on a wall with many other similar sized works but always command attention when people visit. Best r

Lori, your videos have been so inspiring to me. It’s been a year since my last abstract painting. I want to get back into it but I was wondering if you provide any courses online or if you have any advice on learning more on abstract painting. ❤

I actually am aware that value is the most important. And I can see it in other people's paintings, or when it's missing. But for some reason I struggle to see it in my own work. It's weird. So, as a result, I struggle with value. When I know there's something wrong in my painting, I always think the problem is the thing or object next to the value problem. Don't know if I'm explaining this correctly. I don't know why I sort of block it out in my own work. Thank you for this video. I always need the reminder. And I'm going to try painting in b&w
