Awesome 😺 I work in acrylics mainly, so I don’t think much about any oil mediums or techniques,but this was so interesting. I never knew you could activate and blend oil pastels onto canvas like that 🙀 Now I totally want to try this. Thanks for sharing Julie, You Rock 🇨🇦

I thought oil pastels never truly "dried". Does the lavender spike oil break that down so they will actually dry and cure?

Sennelier makes a great oil pastel fixative that really works. Perhaps it can be worked into the process if needed. I have found very light layers set for oil pastels many times.

Hello Kraznia… oil pastels dry very slowly as oil paints do. The Lavender Spike Oil does alter the oil a bit to allow it to dry much quicker than it would normally. No yucky oily smells and just wonderful results! Thanks for watching and thanks for your questions! 😊 Julie

But I thought oil pastel didn't really dry. Will any oil pastel work, or just certain brands?

Hello Sarah… student grade oil pastels will not deliver the same results with this simply because they include more wax which doesn’t dissolve the same with the medium. The professional brands would deliver the best outcomes! Oil pastel will eventually dry but does take a prolonged amount of time just like oil paint. Hello Chris… oil pastels dry slowly just like an oil paint… but it does dry. The Lavender medium expedites that process so that you can use it that way. Thank you for watching and for your questions! 😊 Julie
