Very nice airbrush work. Thanks for sharing & posting. I use my airbrush a lot for weathering, both of them. Acrylics sprayed through Badger 155 Anthem (.75mm bottom sucker) & lacquer sprayed through Harbor Freight Avanti (.3mm gravity fed). I've watched many a video on the Avanti with expert airbrush artists' reviews (A+) extolling its virtues, so I got one for $26.99 and it sprays better than the Badger. I do like watching airbrush techniques from modelers like you who take the time to pass on good information. I found and old pint can of Rust-oleum rusty metal primer which is lacquer based and I really had to thin it to run through the airbrush. When dried it looks like old rust & I use it on my wheels, couplers, truck springs & it's perfect for boxcar red oxide. I first tried it on my Tichy Train Group ore cars I built along with a 40' 50 ton flatcar & 40' 40 ton wooden side gondola. When modeling the late 1800's through the early 1900's one must build rolling stock from kits 'cause ya just can't find good RTR with K-brakes. Besides I love to build kits. Cheers from an ex-Georgian in eastern TN

@@paulbolton1802 oh my, that’s been 10 years ago. Heck, I don’t even remember if I used Model Master or Americana Craft paint. Same for the Lincoln Warehouse (with the Blatz sign). Americana Heritage Brick would be a close match. Thinned about 30% with distilled water and shot through my airbrush at about 50-55psi.

I painted my version using Tamiya brick red (I think) an added a little black to it to darken it some. Not sure how accurate it is but it looks good for cleanish brick for a fairly new building.

As a kid I always got a kick out of how close the train came to that corner of the power plant building. That little section of track to the South was like a relief valve especially if they had to pull out all the cars closest to 3rd Street which was where they loaded the spent grain and was one of the longer tracks. As always good to see the nice quality work

When you were building this fine layout, did you run across any info on the latter history of the old freight house? There was an Airslide unloading facility installed at the west end of it, a couple years before it was torn down for the freeway. I recall my dad talking about it & just recently ran across a photo of it when it was still in service. Thanks!

@@beerlinemodeler check with your local library. See if they have books you can check out on Milwaukee in the era you model. If not, they may be able to do interlibrary loan, and borrow from another library. Milwaukee Road historical society would be another source. They may be able to provide photos for a small fee you could then scale and use.

Hi @BeerLineModeler I've been following your channel for a few years now and have been enjoying your layout update videos and Beer Line Ops videos, thank you for sharing them. I noticed you are using a Digitrax DCC system, have you tried the new UT6 throttles from Digitrax? I absolutely love my UT6, you can do just about anything with it that you can do on the DT500, except program decoders. Just my humble opinion, its smaller size makes it perfect for ops sessions. Cheers, Rich S.

Hi @@beerlinemodeler, being that I'm old 😂🤣😂 and old school, I'm just not fond of using my cell phone as a throttle. I've done it on my buddies layout, but for my I still like the tactile sensation of turning a knob. Probably dates back to my MRC power pack days in the dark ages of DC block control 😂That is the one thing I really like with the new UT6, it has a nice sized knob and the throttle is about the size of a deck of cards. I've actually gotten use to holding it in my left hand and controlling the knob with my thumb. But any way, like the old saying, what works best for you is the most important thing. Thanks for the feedback and thank you for the great ops and layout update videos. Cheers, Rich S.

The ops are pretty standard session to session. The real beer line was that way. The variety comes with Juneau Avenue. Only Blatz gets switched every time. As for cars, each of my industries has its own fleet of cars. I simply rotate them each session. I have a fleet of DSDX reefers for Schlitz, for example. Lincoln has its own fleet of boxcars. I use a switch list for when guests are operating.

So, I can do smart phones with WiThrottle if I want to run wireless. Obviously I couldn't in these videos as I was using my phone to do the video. I'm just read to splurge on the hardware necessary to convert. Several hundreds of dollars just for the plate, plus a DT throttle. And honestly I'm not sure my layout size really makes it necessary.
