This is the second of two parts from our day down by the Schlitz house. Most of the action is from #634 working the Pabst Shipping Center. If you like hearing an EMD567 notching up and down on switching duty, then you’ll enjoy this video. Once in a while an EMD will fill in for one of the FMs when they’re out for inspection or other issues.
Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe if you haven’t already. Feel free to comment and ask questions.

Super work John. Weathering is wonderful and the detail level on the layout is amazing. Very realistic to my eyes.

I sure like your attention to detail, from the figures, to the Schlitz vehicles to the Milw. road engines and switch stands... nice! DD

Another great video and fun to see a busy morning on the Beer Line. I love the weathering on the diesels, especially the SW1200. Great work!

Thanks! Yea, that little EMD is a sweet engine. One of the Rapido models. Nice and heavy.

@@beerlinemodeler I have two of them. One runs like yours…. top shelf at slow speed. The other is so rough and jerky it’s practically unusable for switching. Same CV settings.

OMG, I love that little caboose at the 2:42 time and again at the 18:06 time. What is it and where can I get one??? I'm glad to see someone else running cabooses just behind the engine like I do... My conductors use them as an office.

It’s by Fox Valley. They make additional runs every now and then. Overland has a brass version as well, but I’ve never landed one. Nice heavy caboose.

Have you tried N scale yet? If not, then I recommend getting a Kato starter set. The choice is yours for the road name.

What were the unusual exhaust stacks for? Sound suppression? Home made emissions control?

Spark arrestors. They have screens and baffling inside. Older EMD 567 diesels would spark more out of their exhaust as they aged. GP9s had them, some of the SD7/9s. Even a few of the E9s. F units too.

It seems that every op session is a re-run, I hope not. You have a very nice layout with some outstanding modeling work. I do wonder this though,; why have you left out the Miller Brewing co? was their facilities not on the "Beer Line"? also, Are those Kadee couplers, without the hook horns? I'm a recent subscriber. although I've seen many of your videos, I'm not up to speed on much of what you have done. ;-)

Miller was not on the beer line, it was near Muskeego yard. The MILW did switch it though. Couplers are Kadee #158 whisker couplers with the trip pins removed. All cars have air hoses and cut bars, either out of the box or I add them. sorry about the op re-runs. I try to vary up as much as possible, however a small layout there is only so much I can do.

Thanks. I knew Miller had to be left out for a reason. I think the detail level of your rolling stock is superb. (accucraft). Also, there is a manual switch machine that acts like a spring, not heap. I can't remember what the are called. ;-)'

Schlitz was the only brewery that was directly served by the Beer Line itself. Pabst & Blatz brought in their commodities & shipped their goods via the Beer Line, but both breweries proper were a couple miles away from the tracks. Pabst was about a mile west of their elevator & shipping center next to Schlitz. Blatz brewery was south east of Schlitz by a few blocks. Miller was a few miles west of there by Grand Avenue tower on the line that split off the main to the Twin Cities & went up to North Milwaukee where the beer line started. The other brewery by Grand Avenue was Gettelman. They were in business until around 1960 & were bought out by Miller.
