Thank you so much for letting people know that tension is real. After the 2016 election I experienced that tension/conflict personally. It was difficult to understand how the people who raised me with certain Christian values could so pompously cheer for Donald the person. I fully understand why Christian people vote conservative and why they vote liberal. I'll never understand why so many Christian people chose Donald to be the flag bearer for conservative values he doesn't remotely embody instead of choosing any number of alternatives who are at least somewhat Christlike.

I have gone through the process of rethinking everything. I still have faith but I accept more people than I did before. Since the elections, I have joined support groups for people who have been barred from most churches and I am finding people with so much love for God and people. 🏳️‍🌈

I understand what you're saying, but Right-Wing Evangelicals don't deserve all the blame. White Evangelicals number only 17% of the electorate, while 51% voted for Trump. That being said, I'm not looking forward to the next 4 years under him. His appointment of Elon Musk makes his presidency immeasurably more evil.

We had a peaceful Christmas filled with love and kindness. We only had those who did not support TRUMP and his evil cruel ideology. TRUMP and his evangelical followers perpetrate hate bigotry and cruelty. That has no place in my home ever,but especially at Christmas. The kindest way for my family and friends was to simply not deal with them.

I haven't voted for either party since 2012. The abortion issue is a major reason because I believe in life and can accept early abortions at 10 weeks. I can also can accept medical needed abortions. What I cannot accept is abortions of about 60,000 elective abortions after 20 weeks just because the child has a medical issue that the child would live but the abortion industry and planned Parenthood wants the child dead. The democratic party has several good ideas but not all are good. The Republican party has some good ideas but not all are. The two parties make most ideas one or the other. I don't believe that President Trump will solve any of the problems. He might create more than we could have.

I can not express enough how much I love and appreciate everything you said in this video. I am not a republican nor am I at all religious. I'm actually a lifelong atheist, but I believe wholeheartedly in peace and kindness and love and striving to be a force for good in the world whenever possible. Trump is an abominable and vile creature. I will never understand how all these so-called "Christians" have latched onto him as they have. It really is quite shameful. Anyway, thank you for being a voice of decency and a very Merry Christmas to you.

I was for Thump the first time around until my daughter noticed the things I was posting ignorantly. She said, “Mom, you are a good person, just take a closer look at what you say and if it is truth.” I took her advice and discovered that most of what I was posting was evil and inaccurate. I completely switched politics off my feed forever but this election has me very saddened. I won’t loose hope, I can’t, not in Christ but the people I thought were my brothers and sisters, I went through a tough time with this. I think they just don’t see the whole picture and as for the abortion reason. There were more abortions in 2023 than there has been in a decade. Making laws against what they consider sin and following Trump will loose more souls than any abortions. I could go on and on.

Here’s the thing, and I don’t know if anybody has touched on this in the comments, but what does “being pro-life” truly mean? Are you truly pro-life, or are you just pro-baby life? To be pro-life means to truly value *all* life, not just the unborn ones - and Christian pro-life efforts are utterly ignorant of the fact. To vote for someone who supports and fights for pro-life policies (whether they actually do or not) without paying attention to the value of the mothers’, teenagers’, African Americans’, Caucasians’, First Nations’ lives (the which Trump does *not* have a track record of upholding or fighting for) is to vote at the height of hypocrisy. Jesus might not have been a socialist, liberal, conservative, or far-right voter, but His words very much reflect social concerns, and we would do well to reflect on that

Right on Pat. Thanks. I needed to hear that. I'm a former daily newspaper crime reporter and believer in Jesus Christ. I don't know what "Christian" means anymore. For the past nine years I've warned in published opinions about the clear deception of Trump. When they asked for Watchmen to stand up with instructive words in church, I stood up and cautioned diplomatically about deception. I was asked to sit down and not "be political." I wasn't being political. I was being spiritual. But the overwhelming majority of professed Christians in my church at the time were blinded. They lacked the "eyes to see" the Kingdom of God. They preferred the complacency of their potlucks and Bible studies where they lamented the perceived "persecution" of their faith in the United States -- blind to how they have become the persecutors. I haven't set foot in a church in more than three years. And I have no intention to in the future. As you suggest, this Christmas more than any past, I can't pretend that all is well with the faithful and the nation. I'll be celebrating Christmas in solitude with the new born king, avoiding the distractions of what I call cookie cutter Christianity - and listening for revelation from our true newborn King.

I became a Christian in the 90s and I love the words of Jesus in the gospels deeply. I've tried to model my life around His teachings. I think mainstream evangelical Christian churches have always had an issue even before tRump. I only find few in the churches who are really interested in learning truth about the gospel. Few want to actually seek the Kingdom of God. Not to judge, but just saying what I've observed. So, to fall for tRump's stuff shouldn't have been a surprise. But, I just wasn't expecting them to actually worship and defend him like they do.
