Mountain Fox pants just are the mutts nuts. I have had mine for seven yers, I`ve never tried to be careful with them, I trek plenty also out in heavy shrubbery, up in trees and mountains. The only thing that hav`nt stood the test of time is one of the brass buttons on the legpockets, otherwise fine. In my time on this planet I have also done plenty of craftsman jobs, and worn out plenty of workwear pants. Even they often compete on price (they are expensive) they usually fall to pieces within a little year or so. The swedes are onto something way better here! Dad also had big fondness for Mountain Fox wear, so I guess that is where I learned these are supremely high quality apparel

I agree with you on the difference between Bushcraft and Survival. I think the same way. Great video!

New subscriber...Like that you gravitate to more "traditional" materials and seem to have a real appreciation for the craftsmanship and I see why the Puukko you have would be a favorite it's a beauty..thanks for sharing your "kit" with us!

This is my favorite video of yours because there isn't any dialogue. I think it adds to the simplicity. When you aren't speaking it seems easier to sink deeper into the video, to be more present to the doing or non-doing, and to the varying sounds; rain falling on the tarp, the sawing of wood, your blowing on the fire, your spoon stirring the coffee, etc.

Thanks! I wish all my other subscribers felt this way because I enjoy making these silent videos, but I got a lot of bad feedback, people wanting to connect with me more, whereas the silent videos feel too cold for most.

Brilliant, just brilliant, love your attitude. I totally agree with you on your take of bushcraft, so called training for hard times,and obtaining skills for life, and perhaps life saving. There is nothing wrong with returning to basics with a tiny bit of modernity.

That is what is neat about spending time outdoors, everyone can do their own thing. Traditional tools and equipment, modern and techy or fun boojie gadgets whatever your into there's no wrong way as long as your safe and considerate to nature. I enjoy taking a mix of all into the woods.

How much does that 30L ruck weigh with all the stuff inside? What’s the furthest you’ve ever walk with that kit?
@careenaalexis3 күн бұрын
I probably should have prefaced this video with the fact that this is not the kit I would go backpacking with, this is the kit I would take on only a few kilometres hike to spend time in a basecamp style campout. I have my ultralight kit for canoe tripping and backpacking. But the two trips are very different styles of course. this pack fully loaded with a full water bottle probably weighs about 25-30 pounds I would guess.

Please do not ever apologise for lack of KZbin content when you're a new mom! Your family comes first. Some of my greatest memories are my camping trips with my kids when they were little. But you might also might want to have some "escape" time to yourself where you can chill out and invite us along?

G'day Careena. Condolences to the knife maker's family. A sad lost to the bushcraft community. Your knife was the first item we asked about when we first subscribe to you channel. We did look it up, but dad wanted to make it for us. We're twin girls, not as experience as you but we're learning from you and others. We also have backpacks similar to yours but smaller and it's leather with brass buckles. Yes, it's a classic and traditional, got it from our grandparents. They were the ones who encourage us to experience the outdoors and taught us how to live off the land. Our winter is not as drastic but beautiful as your, sometimes it doesn't even snow. Thank you for sharing your setup and carry. Hope to see more of you conquering the wild. All the best to your family and business etc. Cheers mate from Christmas Island & Australia.

Most people will end up homeless before they end up needing a backpack like yours. I had three sets of clothes and a knife for protection which I actually pulled out a few times. I had a set of steel toe workbooks because some temp jobs required them and some work clothes I slept in hotel rooms about two nights a week sharing them with usually 2-3 people so it would cost me $10-15 for my part. Mostly this was so I could take a shower twice a week.

I was wondering if you knew about Saku. He was very good at his craft and I was sad to hear about his passing when it happened. I saw a post from his wife tagging him or using his fb account letting everyone know. My husband and I still have our knives from him. We haven’t used it much but it’s there whenever we need it. Congrats on the new addition btw! Was excited to hear that! I haven’t been able to watch every video you’ve made but I still look at them here and there when I can. Glad to see that you’re still at it and hope you keep on doing this! I haven’t seen any more vids with Grizz lately. How is he doing? Hoping everyone is well!

🤦 3:06 🤦 Me, spending $350 on a hammock, after watching one of your clips... 🤣 Recently I spent $35 in thrift stores on a thermal jacket (like new), 2 payers of base layer pants made out of virgin wool (new with tags), a nice merino wool / acrylic sweater (like new), and a nice beanie (new, or at least I think so, without the tag). $35 well spent... Thrift store never disappoints. 6 days ago I ordered a $35 backpack made out of X-Pac from China?! 🙃 Deal of the year or the biggest hoax, we will see... 😆 On my list I have a pair of Fjallraven Keb also, maybe I'll find one in a thrift store one day, you never know... Awesome gear, by the way!
