On an Alaskan cruise in 2016 we went on a dogsled ride (using wheeled sleds as it was summer) and to my surprise the dogs were not huskies, but much smaller dogs and mostly mixed breeds. The guide said larger dogs tend to overheat, even in winter.

Wow, that was awesome. My son in law used to ride sleg dog teams up that way. Maybe " Burnt Falls". Not sure about the correct place name. And my daughter and son in law used to work at Wanakita wilderness camp( YMCA ). ENJOY THE FLATS. ( the time in between the highs and the lows of life).

Nice to hear you say that dog sledding is a workout. Too many people think it's all about laying back and letting the dogs pull. When solo sledding, you almost become part of the sled. Being doubled up, as you were, doesn't permit this to happen. When I film my teams and I sledding, it is tough. Frozen hands and control are a challenge. Thanks for the video. Glad you enjoyed the experience.I started living the lifestyle over 30 years ago because I tried it!
