The ninja example he brings up isn't even what they based this mechanic on, they adapted a glitch or possible extra mechanic from The Knight battle where if you side step to avoid his shield when he raises it up in the first phase.

the fact that tails simply just disagrees with platforming is so fun, they absolutely nailed the 3d tails experience

i understand what you were saying about how "i'm here" gets redundant but i personally loved it. i always thought it was the most slept on vocal theme in the game but the orchestral remix with kellin quinn really managed to propel it to top tier among the other titan themes and that made me super happy :')

Plus you can never go wrong with a good ol orchestral remix or kellin quinn for that matter (Serioulsy listen to sleeping with sirens they got some good stuff, the fact i didnt know about them before sonic is crazy)

Fun fact: There’s another example of switching targets earlier in the game. During the fight with the Knight, you can go around his shield when he puts it up in Phase 1 and completely skip the part where you ride it

Finally someone who appreciates the difficulty and someone who realizes WHY tails dosent have a homing attack, everyone needs a weakness knuckles, short jump height, Amy no wall running, tails no homing attack

Sonic/Shadow should be the only 1s with the Homing Attack/Lightdash/Lightspeed Attack. Amy shouldn't have a Spin Attack, Spindash either. And Boost to win needs to die

​@@shadowopsairman1583 Amy is a hedgehog, she is as able to make spin attacks as Sonic and Shadow. And the only game that is Boost to win is Forces, you are not able to beat Generations, Rush and specially Unleashed just boosting

Tails is full of cons and only a single pro(Which is getting everywhere with the Cyclone). I genuinely hope this is not how he plays in the future because it just sucks.

@@LoiValdes I think Amy should be able to roll into a ball, but not do spin attacks or homing attacks. Because those moves required rolling into a ball + super speed. However, Tails and Knuckles were shown to be able to keep up with Sonic a bit, so having spin jumps makes sense. They used to have spin dashes so having them again would be cool since they lost it for a while. But giving speed and spin attacks to everyone just makes Sonic pointless such as in Heroes and Frontiers (where all the characters also have the boost... lol)

I'm pretty sure Knuckles' weakness is his gliding. Takes 100 seconds just to launch upward before gliding once you ACTIVATE it (it feels more like an activation rather than just doing it), and his glide steering is abysmal.

Final Horizon for what it was is fantastic. The playable characters weren't perfect, but they were enjoyable, and that final boss was PEAK

@@SSJacksWolf A perfect product doe not exist. There will always be some kind of criticism from someone. The fact you jumped from well the reaction to the game is positive but not perfect so the franchise needs to die is beyond ludicrous. If you hate Sonic why are you even here?

Final Horizon isn’t perfect but it’s an amazing finale to An already Great Game. Also Eggman being reunited with Sage at end was Perfect

Making Amy a whole magician is honestly an amazing choice. Amy's hammer is great but Shes basically a worse knuckles. It makes sense because every hedgehog asides Amy up until that point always had some type of mystical powers (Speed, chaos control, Telekinesis) so its nice to see Amy also being powerful in some way

I would've preferred a more hammer centric moveset with the cards taking up 2 or 3 actions max. The Hammer feels more character specific and iconic for her. ( dont know if id say shes the worst now tho that's a bit much)

@@SSJacksWolf She still loves sonic. Shes just not a fangirl. her role fits more as the Emotionally intelligent caretaker then the "normal" one. You can see this when she cares for the Koco and carries Trip on her back. I'm fine with the way they are handling Amy now. Before frontiers she served no purpose to the plot other than being Sonic's obsessive Love interest.

@@SSJacksWolf Bs. The normal character in a story does not have esper abilities that develop into psychic powers. And if you say that's no longer a thing, it has been a thing for the longest time. First of all, what you mentioned(Which has been implemented in Sonic Retconigins, so it is still valid), then she constantly talks about sensing Sonic's presence in the DreamCast era and beyond like she was Lucario from Pokemon(That is why she bumps into Shadow, Silver and Werehog Sonic himself. And also implied to be the reason she is getting surprised by Metal Sonic and Zero, she cannot sense them because they are not living beings). And in Sonic Battle, which is incredibly weird writingwise but still canon and thus relevant...she straight up accidentially projects a copy of Sonic that beats Rouge up. And yes, that's more or less the thing. There is nothing in Frontiers that tells me this is magic and not just the abilities she literally had from day 1. It's like being surprised that Knuckles references going super just because Super Knuckles was super lame in Heroes. Still happened, still canon, literally nothing to contradict it.

31:03 The Knight section of the final trial taught me that you can get around the shield during the first phase and target him directly by dodging to skip the riding sequence entirely, so that's how I knew for The End's fight. I'm really surprised your last run was so fast that you had enough rings to sit through that and still beat him on that first encounter.

Yeah that’s how I knew how to lock on to the cord too. Pressing the dodge button during combat against some of the guardians also let’s you sway around them. I think alot of people tend to forget this in the heat of the moment.

@@zenostriker6081 Yeah, even in this video here, Chaomix's literally shooting down his own argument by explicitly showing you can bypass "shields" with the dogde mechanic taught with the very first guardian. He seriously meant to tell me it never crossed his mind to apply that principle with The End's head, or Knight's shield for that instance? On top of telling players to use dodge during the tower sections in the least intuitive way possible? With the risk of sounding unecessarily entitled here, Update 3 truly exposed a big chunk of people that simply don't want to admit they forgot how to use the controls, lacked imagination and relied on relentlessly pressing the attack button while expecting a different result. Even both the Tips and the Master King Koco's knowlegde say, to paraphrase things: "Stop attacking the head already, do something else".

@@MaxusFox23 Update 3 isn’t perfect, it still has jank, difficulty spikes, and stuff that needs improvement but most people just can’t seem to accept having skill issue moments in a Sonic game. I’ve been seeing people’s reaction to this update and it’s more really apparent with the tower section. Most players have even said that they haven’t even touched the game since it came out. We’ve gotten so used to Sonic games holding your hand and coasting by with automation and braindead level design that when players actually have to pay attention and think they can’t handle it. Also I don’t get how The End boss is that confusing. The game has you cyloop for almost everything especially for the puzzles. So of course cylooping the gun when you see the lock on makes sense to me. “When in doubt cyloop” that’s basically the whole game. As bs as that last trial is, it’s what helped do more damage to the titans during the trial

My thing is that, even if he didn't know you could circle behind enemies with dodge, he would've figured it out pretty quickily if he'd tried to use Wild Rush at least once. Same thing with the gun, the game teaches you very early on that if something looks suspicious you should try cylooping it, and you already see Sonic cylooping Knight's sword to use his weapon against him in a cutscene so it's not like there's zero precedent.

@@zenostriker6081 I can 100% admit spending too much time climbing the towers (especially the second one) and having to lower the difficulty for the Master King Koco's trial, but straight up blaming the game for forgetting the controls ("tHe GaMe DoEsN't SaY") is just... a true skill issue moment. And it's not like all the strats people have uncovered aren't out there with the game being almost a year old.

I, much like you, found myself missing some aspects of the regular ending as well. Not only what you mentioned, but the shot after the final QTE of Super Sonic flying like a shooting star through space to collide with The End. In my opinion that was a peak Sonic moment. However, upon further consideration, I realize they more than likely didn't want to make the regular ending entirely obsolete. Especially since a good chunk of players just will not be able to complete the gauntlet that is this update. This is something I can appreciate as well.

The fifth trial was so frustrating but after hours of trial and error and the urge to switching it to easy but sticking through it in hard, the feelings i felt as soon as I saw knight get blown up was such a great feeling. I think the difficulty was a really nice change, but I think there should've been more accessibility for younger/casual players. I hope the backlash on the DLC doesn't scare the team away from keeping the games difficult. For the final boss, I was a fan how it looked and how cool it was. I am also a fan of how they don't hold your hand during this DLC. But with how weird the lock on can be, I think they should've hinted at what you need to do for the final boss. The fact that the easiest way to disconnect Supreme from the end is by dodging threw me off so much.

The Master King trial may be infamous, but it's ultimately just a case of grinding it out until you perfect your parry game, which is both fun and addictive if you put yourself in the right mindset. Really, everything in this update (Hard mode Snake trial aside) were just a tough, yet fair case of putting your nose to the grindstone and learning how to perfect your approach through repeated attempts, which is kind of what the Sonic series were all about back in the day with their endlessly replayable levels. I'm still salty about the Hard version of the Snake trial, though, as it were the only challenge in this update that I couldn't beat during my first run without swallowing my pride and relying on external help. I eventually went back and used the options settings to alter the turning speed and start acceleration, which let me shave just enough time off of my run to clear the trial with my original tactic, so I did at least manage to beat it on my own terms eventually. Still, altering the intended physics settings to do so doesn't feel like a great solution...

@@CrimsonMoonMYeah needing to adjust the sliders for the game was kind of bad. I love the idea of giving players this freedom, but the game should be enjoyable out of the box you shouldn't have to experiment with those type of settings. Those settings should be for people who have beat the game already and its a reward/treat for people who want to mess with the game a bit more.

The end boss fight has an orchestral and a remixed version of the main vocal track of the game, this brings back the final boss fight tradition with an orchestral version and then a remixed main vocal track like Solaris.

Honestly i feel the title was absolutely perfect cause personally I've always viewed sonic frontiers as a high effort experiment for the series to see what sticks and see what people feel about this new style, and hear all the criticism out and not just move onto a new style if people hated it, i absolutely love this game, its not perfect, final horizon isnt perfect ethier, but the effort they put into it all to the point they give us free updates and a whole new story for people who didn't like the original ending is something i will commend this game specifically, its special in that way.

Which is exactly what they've been asking for, too. Only complaint I have is just the Master King Koco trial. Specifically with the parry just being weirdly timed.

@@mee6606At the very least, there should be an indicator of when you're supposed to parry, because the attacks move at different rhythms even when it's the same attack but different round of hitting them. There's indicators for swinging on poles so you would think if you needed to time something, they'd give you something to time yourself TO.

1. Nobody complained about difficulty 2. Trial towers are fine due to difficulty decrease, but tower 2 is literally broken 3. You only get like 10 FRAMES to do perfect parry 4. Boss rush sets everything to level 1 (even ring count) 5. Tails is quite literally broken 6. The end is stupid, how are you supposed to know how to DODGE ONTO THE BACK

This was the best Final Horizon review I've seen thus far. Thank you so much for posting such a detailed account of your experience with update 3. Looking at it from a different perspective I think I'll pick up the sticks and finally complete update 3. I left off at the tower challenge #2. 😅

While the update had a lot of "cheap difficulty" sprinkled everywhere (MKK trial, Guardians, Cyberspace, some towers), it did have the things that I thought were missing. The characters were fun to play, and the finale was amazing, and the story felt more complete. I hope the game does at least get a few quality of life patches for a final update, like giving the other characters their pure bodies as alternate costumes, or, y'know, fixing or removing the perfect parry bs. Also it's been a while since I've watched one of your vids! The channel name animation and transitions are really well animated and clean!

It does not look like they are patching the game...even tho they kinda have to because new Ouranos is literally unbeatable on extreme difficulty on Switch and the game now fails to run on a lot of PCs it ran on before.

@@lpfan4491 It's still possible on either side (patch or no patch). There's not anything to my knowledge saying that "it's just these 3 updates and it's all you get." If the game is presenting *that* much problems in terms of being unplayable, then they should do at least SOMETHING. I don't think they'd do a major world overhaul, but a few tweaks for controls or bosses could be possible

aside from blue eyes cyber sonic also has a constant red outline which i hardly see people depicting in fanart, but it is fairly easy to miss when so much else is going on. personally i feel the design would have been a lot better if it had patches of blue cyber corruption before the final form, but oh well.

New intro is sick bro. Good review tho. It really is a demo for the best sonic game, i hope this is the last time I say this but let’s hope in the next game it’s gonna be a very polished experience and no bad aspects like the knuckles stomp (also tails) and glide delay or the glide not having bad controls itself. Let’s hope sonic team makes a banger next time.

It’s incredibly rough, but it’s a much better ending than what we had before. The return of other characters and the new final boss more than makes up for the flaws this update has. Really hope they take what worked here and fix what didn’t in the next game.

Thank you for being one of the only people I could find so far who has actually played this update and given their opinion. I thought the increased difficulty and improved cyber space stages were a really good sign of things to come in later Sonic games and hope more people will get to experience the absolutely insane final boss fight. Any fans of older (and better, let's be honest) 3-D Sonic games should give this update a try because, even if it is the hardest Sonic thing I've ever played it's decently well designed and I hope they continue to improve on it and continue to go in this direction

I pretty much agree with almost every consideration you made towards this update. It may have some messy stuff here and there, but I guess when you understand the characters gameplay's purpose and surpasses the difficult in challenges, that feeling of satisfaction is very rewarding. With this, I hope Sonic Team really see it and improves more regards to future Sonic games. Also, I'm kinda curious to listen your opinion on Superstars as well, chaomix, since this game has a ton of divisive visions from what classic games were.

This update had some pretty clunky parts but still love this update, I've grown to ironically enjoy the master king trial and the difficulty spike in general, Sonic getting a new form after so long was just super hype, and I just love the spectacle of the final battle

I think making the game more difficult is a great change, as opposed to how easy the base game was. The issue in my opinion is (specifically with the Master King Koco trial) was how it’s not done in a controlled way at all. The perfect parry is suddenly thrown at you, with no way to practice it apart from repeatedly bashing your head against a wall (in the form of Wyvern), the enemies attack patterns are weird and the frame that the attack actually hits is massively inconsistent. Also the ending boss fight wasn’t that great when you consider how unintuitive it is, with having to run into the arms and parrying them (when it looks like they aren’t doing anything), and the lock on system being terrible. Narrative wise though, apart from The End seeming more like a random entity, was super fun

I absolutely LOVE how they did the other playable characters; it's the perfect way to bring them into modern/boost gameplay. Sonic Team didn't look to the adventure era, they followed the *classics,* where different characters had their own strengths, weaknesses, and abilities, but shared a unified gameplay style.

25:05 This section about really absorbing the mechanics of the boss fights are pretty much the same opinion I had after beating the boss rush trial. I loved every second of trying to shave as much time from the fights as possible to the point where by the end of the trial, I still had a solid 2 minutes left. I basically began developing speed running strats with how quickly I was able to beat Giganto in the final run.

I think The End boss fight attempts to be like a puzzle or a riddle. They did not make it too obvious what to do, It makes you explore different ways to approach the enemy. Also, the more you progress completing the island, King Koko will give different hints about what to do to beat The End. But I agree with you, it is not intuitive, and it could be kind of frustrating, I actually beat this boss by accident, I suddenly hit the cable but I didn't understand how I did it haha. However, I like this update, even with all those flaws, the good thins outweigh the bad ones, I love to have some extra challenge in this game.

I'm glad someone else appreciates the difficulty spike as much as I do. Not every game needs to baby you! While this update may have flaws in it's implementation, games that are fundamentally difficult I find make you appreciate the many different aspects and mechanics that make up the game; kind of like a test of your knowledge and skills! Sonic Unleashed wouldn't be my favorite 3D Sonic game if it wasn't a consistent skill check of everything I understand about platforming and the boost formula! The dodge thing is pretty annoying. But a rationalization I have for it is they gave you a whole arsenal of moves to use throughout the game so if you're struggling, you'll try everything at your disposal. What is one of the first abilities you can unlock after cyloop? Wild rush. What is wild rush's input? Dodge then attack. Thats how i found it initially. Then i got lost on the "cyloop the gun out of its holster" part

If this game has taught me one thing: it's to never take any opinions on the game from the Sonic fandom seriously until you play it for yourself. For years I've always noticed a double standard when it came to what Sonic fans want out of a Sonic game. From hating Unleashed to then going on loving years later to praising Colors and now hating on the boost formula all together. It's like the Sonic fandom itself doesn't know what it wants for a Sonic game and the franchise suffers for it as a result.

34:36 From a story standpoint, it makes sense. During the final phase of the fight, The Ends strongest attack actually knocks SS2 back to SS1 and completely out of that form too which knocks you down to only 100 rings left.

Fair point on The End fight, though I knew how to switch targets because of the start of the Knight fight, basically ignoring the shielding flying segment and damaging Knight.

Unfortunately, this update when I learned about it was the exact reason I didn't buy the game. I have no problem with challenge stages. But they should be completely optional and not something where main plot stuff is locked behind them. What Sega needs to do is learn from Mario when creating their games. Mario never locks main storyline content behind insane levels of difficulty, instead relegating it to optional stages. Let's look at the other Sonic game we got, Sonic Superstars. This was a game that I think was extremely well balanced in terms of difficulty, never too easy and never too hard (outside of the occasional glitch that always happens in Sonic games). There were a couple challenge stages, but they were totally optional and story content wasn't locked behind them, AND they weren't even that bad to begin with, definitely a sight easier than what we got in Frontiers.

While Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon isn't perfect, I've said that Sonic Frontiers is a huge step in the right direction for Sonic and adding in Tails, Knuckles and Amy playable felt like the buffalo sauce to that chicken where as the Spin dash is the blue cheese (that chicken being Sonic Frontiers base game) I haven't played Sonic Suprestars yet, Sonic Frontiers has me more hopeful for the future of the IP and what Sonic Frontiers 2 might have instore.

You made me think of a cool scenario for the Final Horizons final boss. Imagine if we still got a variation of The End's monologue, while Sonic in Super Sonic 2 is completely silent. We get this interesting scene in the perfect parry animation of Sonic looking coldly over his shoulder while hitting a power pose, and that gave me an air of Sonic being dead serious and not joking around anymore. I've also seen some people saying how SS2 is less of its own transformation, and moreso the suppressed form of Cyber Sonic, and that his minimal effort in the perfect parry is indicitive of him suppressing his new power and holding back. I feel like Sonic being silent, contrasted with The End's pompous monologue, would do well in showing us just how much Sonic was holding back/taking this seriously

12:50 seeing that Chunky dreamcast era design remastered in 4k with no alterations to its core silhouette gave me the same happy chemicals of seeing Master Chief rocking his classic, bungie-era armor in halo infinite. I really hope we see a Sonic adventure 2 HD remake someday

Fans can claim "skill issue" all they want when it comes to its difficulty, but the real reason a lot of fans found this update frustrating was because of a severe lack of difficulty progression. In any normal game, you'd see a steady increase in difficulty as the game goes on, causing you to get better at the game as you play. But with Final Frontiers, they went way too far in the opposite direction. If you were to play through the base game up until the final island and enter that ring, you'd be overwhelmed. Not only do you have to unlock skills for Amy, Tails, and Knuckles, the game doesn't even tell you think unless you look at their skill trees in the menu. As for the characters themselves, Amy was my favorite, Tails was okay, but his flying feels slippery, and Knuckles was just bad due to his pathetic combat and very sluggish flying, not to mention limited wall climbing. And of course, there's the towers. The first and third ones aren't too bad, but the second and fourth were real tests of my patience. I could only beat the 2nd trial after hearing about an exploit, which is never a good thing. And for some reason, trial 4 decides to introduce a perfect parry, as opposed to the normal parry we've grown used to; and this is on top of having to fight three titans with 400 rings while having to learn this new parry. At least the final boss and ending was more satisfying, but here's a take I'm sure some won't like: I found Super Sonic 2 or whatever it's called extremely lazy in design. Sonic acted cool, but the design itself is even lazier than some Pokemon shiny forms. It wasn't until he actually got a new form at the very end of the fight that I was like "Okay, this is much better.", only for it to disappear after a few seconds. As it stands, this disappointed me quite a bit. I still think the gameplay of Frontiers is fun, and if they can iron out the playable characters for the next game, that would be a big step in helping to bring them back. But, with a difficulty curve that I can only describe as neck snapping, subpar playable characters, the trials, and the lackluster super form, I can't really say I'm pleased with what was given. At least it was free, but still, that doesn't excuse its faults. Hopefully they improve on this for the next game.

My problem with the update isn't how difficult it is, it's how poorly that difficulty is implemented into the gameplay. Difficult gameplay is done right when the challenge feels difficult but fair and when it feels like I'm the one who's messing up and not the game. But when it feels like the game is stacking unfair odds agaisnt me, all for the sake of calling it "hard", it no longer feels challenging but instead feels frustrating. Take for example the Master King Koco trial. In any other game, you would have the entirety of the game to learn the timing and specifics of the parry function so that when it came time to face a boss, it would test everything you would have learnt up until that point in the game. However, with the Master King Koco trial, you don't get this, instead you have to learn a completely new parry timing against enemies who clearly weren't designed with a perfect parry in mind. On hard mode, the parry literally has about a 8 frame window (which is less than a second) and when you combine this with attacks that are both poorly telegraphed and awkwardly timed, its rage inducing. If you want to see what I mean, look at any gameplay of the trial and you'll see that the time you have to parry an attack makes no sense. The attacking limb of the titan isn't even close to sonic by the time you parry it. The game does not feel challenging in a way that feels fair and rewarding but instead feels poorly designed and infuriating. There is a fine line between sound, well crafted and challenging gameplay and poorly designed gameplay that is "challenging"

Idk if anyone else has commented this, but there actually are hints to fighting The End ingame. If you max out Amy, Knuckles, and Tails' stats, you unlock 3 hints for the final battle from King Koco when you talk to him as Sonic.

I love the new content though I do have a few issues. I really enjoyed trial 5 despite it's issues it was a really fun challenge, but there really is no buildup to having to learn that parry timing and it's bizarre that it's still not a toggle for timed parry. The bosses also don't have the most obvious timing, it's a system that needs to be overhauled in the next game. I did take issue with the new ending and final boss too which is prob something of a more unpopular take. The new final boss has some fun ideas but parrying the orbs is a mess due to them clipping through trees and Supreme, likewise once you know what you're doing there's not much challenge there and as pointed out, it's super unintuitive, but you can beat the boss extremely quickly if you know. It's a set piece albeit a cool one, but it's still nothing on the first 3 titans but it is an overall improvement over Supreme at-least. Cybersonic is also rad af. I also think the End is far less interesting and threatening here, they feel demoted from powerful eldritch abomination to a less then standard titan fight, this being said, I don't think we're done with the End nor should be, The End needs to stay a powerful and mysterious entity, it going down this "easily" would not sit right with me. I'm actually hoping for a series of games with a concurrent storyline, something we've never truly had in Sonic. I also prefer the og ending at-least at the very end, even if they end up in similar places, Sage's sacrifice and Eggman having to lose something to understand how much she means to him, hits far harder. Other then that and a few bugs and glitches though I adore the new content, new characters are fun, the challenges feel far better then base game and more varied, bit unpolished but it's a crazy amount of new fun content in the time it took them to get them out, and it's all free to boot. I'm also very happy they're thinking about difficulty more, I haven't felt challenge in sonic like this since Unleashed and it feels great, even the good sonic games since then have been lacking heavily in replay-ability and content, due to a lack of challenge(Generations comes to mind), the rush I got beating trial 5 is something i've not felt from this series since Eggman-land so I hope the somewhat negative reaction people have had to it's difficulty spike don't deter Sonic Team, just need to balance it better and train the player up.

Didn’t know the cyclone made a return, that’s so awesome and gives me nostalgia of SA2! I’ve been holding off on the game but it just looks so fun. The initial demo I played on switch didn’t really do the game justice for me admittedly but i wanna get the game! Can’t wait to see Sega expand upon this formula with the next game

I wish they gave more obvious hints to grab the rifle off The End’s back. I depleted its health bar 5 times, and was so confused why the fight wasn’t ending/going to the next phase. Even a simple “Sonic! Get its weapon!” from Eggman or Sage would’ve helped me instead of the vague “Do something other than attack The End” tip.

A good start for future games - here's how I see the other characters: Tails is "okay at best". Amy plays great, but they shouldn't have replaced the hammer. Knuckles just needs physics tweaks so his glide doesn't feel atrocious. They ALMOST nailed the "everyone has the same base gameplay" thing, til they omitted the homing attack from Tails in favor of the wrench (they could have at least given him the tail swipe from earlier games smh). Again, good start - let's see where they build from here!

There is a time where the Switch Dodge (as I'm coining it) was used and it was on a boss. That of course being Knight. During the segment where your bashing on his shield if you press LB/L1 or RB/R1 mid combo, Sonic will circumvent the obstacle and deal damage directly to Knight himself. This saves a nice chunk of time. I do agree with you though. It is incredibly obtuse to figure out. makes sense in practice, but absolutely obtuse. I only found it because I was trying to input Wildrush and got that move as a result.

Final Horizon was awesome. Also sonic's upercut looks like Deku's Detroit smash from MHA and he has a domain expansion as well. King Coco also mentioned super sonic 2 is just super at its full potential and the cyber corruption was just being used to bring that out so there is hope for super 2 to return. The best cinematci final boss in the series by far. The platforming was great but there should have been more accessibility for the casuals and the camera is super wonky in the super fights and there is some hitbox overlap jank with the titans and hitbox jank in general. Knight's sword attack randomly changes side for one example. Agree with almost everything said here so far. I do think maybe knuckles glide turn could be a bit better and the startup of a lot of the animations should be removed but i definitely don't want SA2 controls for knuckles as that would destroy almost every challenge especially the glide ones that have you try to master his glide. If Fronteirs 2 cyberspace is as free and open as the ones in FH its gonna be the best sonic game of all time hands down if they polish and improve everything from frontiers to FH. This is truly a new era for sonic.

I’ll be all for high levels of difficulty if the game’s design matches up with it. Sonic Frontiers was not the game to be asking perfection in parries and the like in that boss rush, and regardless whether you could appreciate it or it frustrated you, it just wasn’t very well thought out, it feels like. If they can just find a better middle ground or a better difficulty curve, I’m sure it’ll be much better off. At least the ending and the new playable characters weren’t at fault, it’s more so the design around them that stumbled a lot. Besides some broken upgrades the characters were fun new ways of playing, and even said broken moves were kind of fun with how they destroy some challenges. The ending was super cinematic but all the frustration beforehand and the clunky boss fight weren’t exactly worth it for me. They can just take what worked, and there’s plenty that worked really dang well, and I’m sure I can safely look forward to the next game, be it in a similar style or a bit different.
