for me this movie was a whole different experience, my interpertation is, its about depression and dreams (the litteral dream but also the dreams you have in life, your future dream scenario) how you can get trapped in a downward spiral being stopped by your mental illness and the reaction of the world around you, that in my persenol experience mostly dont help but only let your self-hate/doubt grow, and how all these things can add up to just loosing the grip on life, and you see it play out before your own eyes but cant really get agrasp on when, how and where everything spiraled out of control. and at the end of that whole ordeal you can only wish your past life before it all went down was still within arms reach. something like that but if im going in dept it would be a whole book in the this comment section and nobody wants that

Just watched this with my mrs & woah what an amazing movie. Such real characters, I’m glad they didn’t do anything like cheating or Arthur & Nora have a big fight. We’ve all been use to “Hollywood” movies, this was a breath of fresh air

I agree and I had the exact same thoughts coming out of the movie. But I don’t think I had not enough to chew on, I think I had too much that I could draw straws from any direction. Thematically, the movie was all over the place. The writers clearly focused too much on the subtext and not enough on the actual meat of the movie, which fell short.
@averynb1218Ай бұрын
Love this analysis--I agree, it's written in such a way it's hard not to feel for everyone in this triangle. And Arthur is the only one who gets what he wants: Nora. Nora can't have both, and Hae Sung can't have Nora. But Arthur feels for both of them, as if he's another viewer of the story, which is kind of beautiful given that his character is a writer. It's a beautiful portrayal of a pretty rare kind of partner, a rare kind of man. Someone who can feel the jealousy any of us probably would, but put it aside for the sake of his loved one.

This genuinly felt like one of the most honest words about this film. Mirror might be the one film that's come closest to being my favorite, and I still hold that distinction. I couldn't agree more with how you expressed your feelings about it, and yet I also feel like you've drawn an absolutely distinct experience from my own, and I think that's beautiful. Everyone can find themselves in Tarkovsky, and that brings them closer to who they truly are and help them relocate themselves in the world. For me that's the meaning of art: expressing your way of feeling the world as a means of bringing you and people closer to it through emotion.

As a tennis player I'd say this is a love triangle film rather than a tennis film. They could have used another individual sport in tennis's place and the movie would have worked.
@f1mbultyrАй бұрын
Sure, but you need that one on one, so what other sports would do that? The only ones I can think of would be table tennis or badminton. So two lesser versions of tennis. Tennis is the best option.

I saw this movie on HBO 1983 when pay per view TV was uncensored. There was a nipple piercing scene. It was the sofa scene where Niki said to Max "Want to try a few things..?" Very next scene Max needle pierced her nipple through and through on closeup with a drop of blood and all. There was no "sex" involved but the inference was unquestionably obvious. The whole movie was provocative, but that scene was on the pinnacle edge. I have seen the film many times since and have never seen that scene again. When I saw your review I hoped I would have my answer. Maybe you could help me find the answer? I'm wondering if there is a directors cut somewhere of the original. I wish I could have the opportunity to see it again UNCENSORED.

There is a lot you can get out of this film that doesn't require saying it explicitly to the audience; you have to observe and think through Bruce's character arc. I like it when filmmakers don't assume I'm an idiot and need to spell everything out for me like I'm 5. I loved that Pattinson's Batman is basically a "Year 2" Batman who has the fighting techniques, the gadgets, the detective skills...the groundwork is there. But he's still not quite figured out why he's doing the whole Batman thing or how he reconciles being both Bruce and Batman. He basically sees Bruce as the kid who died with his parents and his only persona is that of Batman. But he has to slowly regain his childhood innocence and humanity so that the anger he vents on his enemies doesn't just consume him completely.

I hate the way she treated her husband through all of this. Like some cuck fool. Fantastic film! But think about if the gender roles were reversed. A man has an emotional affair of sorts with a childhood best friend while his wife sits there like a fool. We’d say he was a monster.

I thought the use of music was kind of horrendous. And the cinematagraphy near the end was laughable. Looked like something from Space Jam lol. Best thing about the movie was the acting IMO. Couldn’t disagree more about the editing

@@toladep “you didn’t get it” is seriously the laziest argument ever. I just have to assume you’re either trolling me or baiting me into getting angry lol. I didn’t have a problem with the story or the themes of the film. I simply disliked the execution of it. His style definitely isn’t for me.
@luca73292 ай бұрын
The use of music is what made this movie incredible to me. Without it, it wouldn’t have worked and that’s why i think defining this movie a masterpiece is an exaggeration. The music suits this movie perfectly: tennis and techno have the same relentless rhythm, and the movie itself tells you that everything in it is about tennis. That explains the use of techno music in dialogue scenes, which are in fact seen as tennis matches themselves. The time jumps remember a tennis match themselves too, considering how the challenger final’s different moments reflect the relationship between the two players and Tashi. It’s surely one of the best movies of this year so far, but that last scene is both great and terrible (certain choices left me dubious, like the POV of the tennis ball… which is actually kinda cool but i absolutely hate the last upward movement). Having this said, this is basically the only major flaw i found.

I have watched this movie already. It's a great movie. They are all amazing. But I have a question ? Is it really Sendaya who's on the top of Josh & Mike ? And is it really her kissing this two guys ? I can't really imagine if it's her.

The editing and the music really made this move so much more intriguing that it would have been. I think the vague intentions of the characters really keep you on the edge of the seat because they all had blurred morals. I was actually super impressed with this movie it was so fun to watch! Altho I think the nudity parts didn’t really add to the story lol
