This doesn't work for me, I follow everything to a T and when I hit play the model refuses to play the running animation, but in the Retargeting window the animations do work, although they look very very janky.

nope if you are rigging dont use blender , if you want to use with Unreal you are gona open up a can of worms. there are work around but blender dosent realy support a great workflow with Unreal, you are gona get all kinds of problems. and it has to do with the way Blender is handling twisting bones, and also how you epor the midel, make sure Z is up X is forward. i been trying to using blender for game development dont. not for characers. just dont.

DAMN This tut is SO vital, so hard to find a video about setting up vanilla Live Link, everything is about the Metahuman setup, and/or iClone. I can't believe how easy it was to get my character up and moving, this is amazing, thanks dude! PS* When I tried to use "apply additive" with a sitting animation, my charcter scaled up to 10x it's size, lol. Idk maybe I did something weird, but anyway I used Layered Blend per bone instead, masking it at the pelvis and stored that as a cached pose, then it all worked fine!

Im a developer and I use BluePrints for the fun of it. Its like playing a game, that makes games!! You can always generate C++ from your BluePrints, so you dont really lose anything. you can always optimize the code in C++.

I’m using Sony Mocopi, and Live Link face in unreal engine to drive the motion capture of a custom character that i built in blender. I’ve been able to successfully save the mocopi capture as an animation sequence, but I can’t figure out how to save/record the live link facial capture simultaneously. Please, if you have any tips, that would be SUPER helpful. Thanks

1 - Where to start? How about the official free courses available through the web site to anyone who has created an account? 2 - Too many tools... No such thing. The trick is knowing the right tools for the right jobs. If I buy a complete screw driver set, I likely won't ever use every size in the case, but if I don't use some, it won't be because I didn't have them. The solution to this is tyo go with the solution for "Where to start?" 3 - Missing skills Unreal is not meant to do away with the development TEAM approach. And there are recruitment opportunities within the community you become a member of when you set up your account. Yes, Unreal can do everything needed to make a game, but it's foolish to think that a single person should feel like they should be able to, or need to do everything. What is so hard about reaching out. There are many people with different skills looking for a project to join as there are projects needing people with different skills. Talk to each other. 4 - Missing information I will give you this one. In as much as the online course work does a good job teaching the basics, the tutorials I have seen show the person grabbing this or that node to do this or that task, just assuming that the person watching knows what those nodes are and why they are needed for that task. The really need to do a course that is a deep dive into FULLY understanding blueprint and all of its nodes in all applications. Maybe someone in the community has pit together something that does this, but it really needs to be officially produced and available right there in the course listings. Newcomers should not have to do a deep dive to find a deep dive. 5 - Disappointing results comes under the one person trying to do everything issue. A jack of all trades is a master of none. And in some cases, you need a master of specific trades to get the desired results. This is what the marketplace is meant to solve, for those who refuse to work with others and insist on trying to do everything themselves. Too bad that using storebought assets draws the ire of the internet, earning you titles like asset flipper, etc. Thing is There are some really talented asset creators, whether the assets are models, media resources or blueprints/C++ code branches, who sell their stuff hoping that people will find them useful, and actually USE them. Nobody should be afraid of using these resources, if they don't have anyone on the team that is able to produce something to replace them. As a digital music composer, I don't worry about using the same digital instrument library that other composers use. They're writing their music and I'm writing mine. That's the defining element right there. 100 different solo developers can use the same dragon asset, and that shouldn't matter as long as HOW it is used in each respective game. It's not an asset flip unless the developer's mindset is "Oh yeah... we've got a dragon, too." In one person's game (black) the dragon is the final boss that must be defeated, and in another person's game (white), the dragon is a faithful companion who's with the player to the end, with 98 shades of gray in between for the other 100 developers. With the exception of #4, these issues actually point to not wanting to bother making use of the resources that are available. The ones who DO bother will be the ones who release their games. It's more of an issue Will or Won't than it is of Can or Can't. At least that's how it looks from my chair.
