I was all excited because I fixed a washing machine by unplugging and plugging it back in again and this guy is casting freaking turret housings.

Everything is basically just like Legos dude.. from your washing machine to cars and motors. Legos for adults. Piece by piece. System by system. Its all super simple really, yes even building a motor from a bare block. I just built a foundry, built a propane venturi burner for it, and am 3D printing molds to cast for a plastic injection molder machine I made😂 everything dirt cheap. 3D printer was the most expensive part. Just step by step do things! Don't buy or pay other people

I don't know where you are in the Pacific Northwest, but if you are looking for a capable, local machine shop, Pacific Machine and Development Inc. In Vancouver WA has always treated me well. Good luck and thank you for sharing not only your process, but a little philosophy for us to chew on.

I have been doing exactly that for the last few weeks. This place looks like a good option to investigate. Thank you so much for sharing!

@@deplorablesecuritydevices also, to help reduce costs on the machining, designing jigs and optimizing your tool count will help tremendously. The less time the machine and machinist spends moving around and changing tools, the more time is spent on the parts. Good blueprints are also your friend as that's less engineering time. Cant wait to see where this goes next, and if i may make a suggestion, take a look at anti spalling coatings as well as fabrics (Kevlar is cheaper than you'd think) to add to your plates.

@@sikend6674 Thanks, after this comment Im considering doing a design review video on the drawings. As for Armor thats good to know, I assumed it was out of the question.

@@sikend6674fwiw, welding blankets are usually Kevlar. YT has videos on dudes cutting Kylie layers of the same shape, and epoxying said layers together to make homemade armor plates.

Very well done. Serious craftsman look for new and inventive ways to get around limitations. 3d printing this mold is a perfect example. I was wondering, have you considered placing some of your electronic/computing components in the non-moving base structure. This could allow for lower inertial loads and faster movement times for the turret.
@deplorablesecuritydevices4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I have a low inertia model but I did not like that camera signals had to travel through slip rings. I wanted maximum reliabilty. The latest version is very fast even with high inertia. Someday will have lots of models : )

Sir, have you considered using truck bed spray to build up coats of anti-spalling on your armor? It might be worth a look. I've heard it works but never needed to try it out so, shaker of salt required.

Check out The Fourth Turning by Strauss & Howe. It's my opinion that America had it's own bolshevik revolution at the same time as Russian and Germany, like Russia that revolution was successful in America. My main evidence on the timing is the Federal Reserve act and the Income tax, Wilson was our Lenin and FDR was our Stalin. Unlike all the other over the top Marxist states after 1913 the ones who captured America decided play their cards close to the vest and maintain the image of a Constitutional Republic as an apparent counter balance to the unabashed authoritarian bolshevisim of the USSR and later CCP. It's time to stop pretending that the US federal government can be saved or that there's any remedy within it or that cursed Ten miles squared in general. All politics are local, we are facing the darkest hour in the cause of Liberty in human history the only way we will overcome this is to think and act locally.

Thank you for the recommendation, I will read it. It was nice to read such a well written comment. Your writing style suggests a mind that isn't softened by small thoughts or popular trends but one that is honed regularely against the hard truths of history and objective observation. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

When you're talking about the armor, you're describing a whipple shield. That's what's used in the international space station's other layers. Brotha, that's COOL! 😎🫡✊🏾
