100% agree, my neighbours plot is pristine and mine is overgrown and weedy, but I chip away and then I have a sit and throw a stick for the dog and enjoy the beautiful views 😅. Jo Devon 🙂

When you were talking at the beginning, it was like you were verbalizing my thoughts yesterday! Many years ago, I had a small sign that said, 'The time you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted time'. I think of that often, especially when I'm watching the hummingbirds.
@JanesGrowingGarden6 ай бұрын
Oh I imagine I’d be transfixed by humming birds - I’m bad enough with bees! True words though - we just have to keep reminding ourselves. Thank you.

No time spent in the garden is wasted. Last year I had so many plants on my terrace, I could only have one guest at the time. This year I'm going to create a nice place to hang and relax and still have something to nibble on for bees, birds and humans.

What a truly lovely video Jane. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. The musicality in it. Just perfectly whimsical and summing up the emotion of enjoying time in the garden. I am a big believer in just letting yourself “be” and enjoying the slower pace of life and what better way to do that just sitting and soaking up the surroundings of the garden. Love the patreon pillar. Lovely idea. You’ve gotten so much done in this video and had so many visitors to the garden, especially the beautiful cat and hedgehog. Oh Happy Butterfly.. I have that one too

Oh I'm glad you enjoyed it! I do have to remind myself every now and then to just try and remember why I fell in love with gardening in the first place - I refuse to let social media get in the way of that! I was so thrilled when I saw things actually turn up on the trail cam - honestly Mike wondered what was going on when I saw the hedgehog! Thank you.

@@JanesGrowingGarden did you do a little squeal of delight at seeing the hog? I would have! We have a lot of badgers on the farm, so very rarely see hedgehogs sadly. Your little pond is such a beautiful addition to the garden. Hard to believe it’s so new. It nestles there perfectly 😍

So envious of your beautiful spring. We had a cold spell (I live in Finland), and SNOW, when I look out the window it is like in the mid of the winter outside. All the migrating birds are in trouble, I have been trying to give them something to eat, but the stores don't have much of anything for them anymore, since it was already a full spring here as well, the crocuses were up and all. And about lavenders, it sometimes takes more than a month for them to root, and you should only pick the soft stems, not the ones that have already gone woody. I so love watching these videos of your plot, and the spring time in there, much better than watching out of my window atm :)

I'm so late this year. Here in southern Scotland the weather has been so wet and windy. I will catch up. I always do. I've got all my potatoes in, just the main to do now. Got all my broad beans in today, parsnips tomorrow. Then sweet peas out and fleeced! I sat and listened to the skylarks over the fields this afternoon, definitely not a waste of time. Lovely video as always x

Think it important to sit back and appreciate the things you've done in your garden/allotment I know I'm guilty of being too caught up in what needs to be done to take a minute and enjoy the moment. Those poor lavenders being pulled out 😮😆 too tempting not too have a little look sometimes I know haha, I struggle with lavender cuttings too, I always use rooting hormone now and still not the best luck. Thanks 🌱🌱

Ha ha - if I can rescue one or two lavender cuttings from the pot it will be a win - we shall see! It's so easy to get caught up in the work that needs doing isn't it - but yes, without sitting back and taking stock now and then it can get a bit overwhelming. Thank you.

I think you need to set up the trail camera on the new squash area to ensure that Mike is not pilfering your watering can when he has lost his 😂 as for gardening, no time is ever wasted in the garden, be it just sitting there, keeping yourself busy or maybe getting lost in your thoughts while staring at plants or maybe chickens. I don’t feel the urge to rush anything right now, partly because I don’t spend as much time watching the what to sow now videos, but also because I listen to nature, I feel that as Gardeners we have an instinctive knowledge and understanding of when it is okay to start planting and sowing. One just has to listen And this weather is making me feel that I will hold off a little bit longer with somethings others that have been already started. Ha ha can’t do nothing about that there’s plenty of time
@JanesGrowingGarden6 ай бұрын
Ha ha - that's a great idea! Yes that's just it - I think we need to trust ourselves a little more rather than worry that we're not 'keeping up' with everything we see on camera. Sound's like you've got a good balance there. Thanks Stella.
