I have the same childhood memories. No one could speak during the show. We had snacks or desserts ready to watch it too. Great show. Wish TV would return to great shows again.

love this! staying here right now and I have to say I feel like the stores and food options are so lacking and many off theme. The casino/lobby still look decent but you can see it is time for a refresh. The cloud ceiling is brown in spots and showing cracks and its age. I think this could elevate to a Venetian level resort but Caesars needs to invest more to keep it higher end.

What a shame. it was a beautiful place. Wanted to take friends there but it was too late. Glad I was able to visit a couple of times as I loved the show!

I've been to a few locations shoots. What you find is and the building are empty on the inside or used to storage equipment. The Flintstones set was nothing more than plastic sheds. When you see the scene where the tent are torn down and just open framed 2x4s is just what they are.

Everything back in that western era was beautiful. The scenery, the houses and the interior designs. Back when care and thought was put into everything and when humans were proud of their work and claimed their pride.

Apparently there is a replica house of the Ponderosa Ranch in Arizona. I saw a video on it. Its a real house in a suburban neighbourhood.

@RonHamill818 Yes. That must have been funny when people came over for dinner. They might have been expecting Hop Sing to come out of the kitchen and Hoss and Little Joe to come in from chores for a bite to eat!!! Didn't know about the house in Nevada. Shame they tore it down.

I visited the ranch when I was a child, I was surprised by how small the rooms were , the upstairs went to doors with nothing behind them.

You didn’t mention that at the top of the staircase there was only a wall and no rooms. The house was built for making the movies and didn’t need any rooms upstairs.

I worked for Bill Anderson at the ranch in early 70's. Bill Anderson and Lenoard Bowser built the ranch. They worked for bodies cascade in 60's. Traded developement and roads for the ranch property. Bowser took about 40 visits to Hollywood set to get the house perfect. Anderson had properties in Dayton Nevada where he had many buildings full of all the wagons and coaches used. Was a fun place to work. I built sets and general work on the existing buildings. I lived in Incline for nearly 30 yrs. The ranch was a great tourist attraction for all.

It’s a shame when an iconic building like this is destroyed linked to a show like Bonanza, yet preserve some building out of a horror film. Bonanza (like the Walton’s) represented a “family unit” that had its short disagreements, but ultimately the family dynamic was as solid as a rock. Some thing our society needs more of rather than our fractured families l.

The Ponderosa Ranch, the fictional home of the Cartwright family from the TV show Bonanza, was relocated to Lamoille, Nevada. The ranch was originally located in Incline Village, Nevada, near Lake Tahoe.

We had a cabin at Meeks Bay and when I'd bring school chums to the lake, Mom would always take us to The Ponderosa so I've been there many times. Loved it and will never forget the memories of those times.

It was so sad to hear that the Ponderosa was demolished. I would have traveled half way across the globe to live there but I would do that in a jiffy. No question about it. So any multi-billionaires feels like investing in my future, shout out 😄
