I traveled to the UK back in 2000 to obtain footage for a documentary about the Titanic I wanted to do. I traveled from Los Angeles to London, Belfast, Edinburgh, Alnwick, Liverpool, Cardiff South Wales, Southampton and ended up in Paris.
Along the way I shot a lot of video in places Titanic related, and others, just to visit with some friends. When I returned home in April of 2000 I didn’t end up doing anything with the footage for quite some time due to a variety of reasons.
Finally in 2018 I released my documentary “Titanic, HW 401: A Personal Reflection” on KZbin. I used the special footage I shot for the documentary and very little of the extra footage that I shot on my trip.
Now
I’ve edited the extra footage together and am including some of the places I visited in my “3 Minutes, A Visit To:” series of videos here on KZbin.
Tower of London
I specifically wanted to get some shots here for my friend Stephen Wolfe Smith back in Los Angeles. He knew all about the Crown Jewels, had a collection of books, video tapes and all kinds of information. He wanted to make a replica of St. Edward’s Crown. I was in the middle of helping him make a crown when he passed on about 2 months after I got back to Los Angeles from this trip. The unfinished crown still sits in a box here with me.
Originally this video was supposed to be for him only, as was the tape I shot for him in Cardiff South Wales of the school he attended while growing up in that city.
I’ve edited out all of my on camera comments to him and my disappointment in being there, and not being able to take pictures or shoot video for him in the Jewel House, where the actual St. Edward’s Crown is kept. I felt that people should see this, as with all the other videos I’ve posted within the “3 Minutes, A Visit To:” series of quick glances at interesting places. In the end, I did show this tape and others to him when I got back to Los Angeles. He truly enjoyed them. This video was for him, but now you’re welcome to watch.
