As a kid growing up in Colorado, I had the book "The Colorado Pass Book" by Don Koch. As soon as I saw and read about Tomichi Pass, I knew I wanted to do that pass. We didn't have any 4WD vehicles at that time so I sort of forgot about it. Fast forward to 2009, I just got my 1st jeep. We were visiting family in Trinidad, and made this as a very long day trip, 5 passes (3 dirt): LaVeta, Poncha, Hancock, Tomichi, and Old Monarch. What a trip, but so beautiful. I really like the contrast of looking at one pass from the other. Looking at Tomichi from Hancock you see this very graceful, elegant shelf road. Looking at Hancock from Tomichi, you see this almost brute-force road wiggling down the valley. I have to do this again (but not in a single day). Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Thank you for this. Your jeep looks like a h1 hummer disguised as a jeep ! the sign at the end is funny, what a lucky grump old man. This whole jourmey was amazing. i hope to visit here one day and do what you did. i really appreciate you. You are a kind person and i really appreciate your video. the name reminds me of my birth given name and a girl i am close with in japan named chi. You got some awesome footage. ❤

The Taylor Park area is gorgeous!!!! Been going out there for 10 years with side by sides but its time to build a Jeep and see other areas of Colorado. Getting older and don't like all the dust in my eyes 😜

The St Elmo area is great. There's something for everyone, from basic dirt roads to extreme trails.

Nice, my favorite pass is Kebler, easy to do on two wheels. (part of the West Elk Loop). You should do NYE at the Redstone Inn if you can get in. Might be too warm for you. lol

Hancock looks to be way worse then when I did it several years ago. When we did Tomichi, pre landslide, I'd say it was a 3-4

I don’t think there is any difference with in state or out of state, that’s the same price we pay.

Love the trails, but the music with it not so much 👎I just prefer the sounds ya'll hear doing it,sounds of nature 👍🍺

I hear you, but there are two issues with that. 1) Wind noise really ruins the audio quality and 2) Drones have no audio, if they did, you would just hear prop noise. We try to include as much "natural sound" as possible, but without any music at all, you wouldn't hear much of anything pleasant to listen to.

Man I am really starting to dislike my state. An OHV pass for a registered vehicle? Time to vote with my feet and move to a friendlier state. 😢

I don't have a problem with it because it is only for "trails" and not things like forest roads, which many of the "trails" we go on actually are. It helps to fund the maintenance and help keep trails open.
