Usain Bolt was not the first man to ever win gold in 100 m, 200, and 4x100 m relay. This was 1st done in 1936 by Jesse Owens then in 1984 by Carl Lewis and each of them had the long jump added to their list of golds. So be careful with your statements. Usain is good but did not reach the height of these men before him. I think he could have set the 400 m if he wanted to.

This aerobic work only amounts to around 18 - 20 mins. Is this the only aerobic specific work she needs or we need to do??? We've been brainwashed to believe we need to do at least 45min long slow steady state aerobic sessions 3 times a week to build and maintain an aerobic base!
@RunnerUniverseКүн бұрын
Hello @cloppa2000, Yes, 400m runners don't need extensive aerobic training to improve their solid aerobic base. Although it's a very important element, they incorporate it in small chunks during the preparation period and sparingly during the specific period. This type of work enhances cardiovascular endurance, improves recovery times, and supports high-intensity sprint training. It helps increase heart and lung efficiency, ensuring sustained speed and stamina throughout the race.
This is eye opening!!! I never ever thought of splitting up the aerobic work! I dread the long slow base building slog! It wears my legs out more than it seems to benefit my fitness! To be able to do aerobic base building at a speed higher than I could do a long slow run is something I would never have dreamed of! I don't want to be a marathon runner and this idea of breaking up the aerobic runs into shorter faster intervals is profound! I do hope I've understood the concept right!! Also, having only just discovered 400m.. I think the 400m runners have the best bodies and running form of any runners I've seen! Thank you so much for this brief but informative aerobic training breakdown.

Perfect conditions for a fast long distance race. No sun, no wind, temperature around 15-17 degrees, and a high quality field with motivated runners and strong pace makers.

He has an insane kick, he just led a lot of this race. Definitely an above average kick among the professional circuit at the moment, after all he did grow up racing Mo Farah and having a strong kick was somewhat of a necessity against him. He only lost by 2 seconds after leading a lot of the race too.

Basically, the new WR as far as I'm concerned - the other was run under laboratory conditions for heaven's sake! Love this runner cos he don't have great running style and he looks like he's struggling.......and yet he absolutely cained them other guys that the commentators couldn't stop raving about 🤣
@joelmacinnes23918 күн бұрын
Not basically the new world record, apart from anything else Cheptegei had a solo run for almost the whole 2nd half The only difference here was the wavelight pace, and he wasn't even within a second of the world record
@christophersmith32548 күн бұрын
What are lab conditions? According to you, an outdoor 400m track
@Lankyfool2346 күн бұрын
To be honest the conditions for cheptegei’s WR were a little more difficult, he did a lot of it solo
@GodfreyAnderson-hk2zz6 күн бұрын
Never mind! what we know is Cheptegei is the official World Record Holder. Why didn't Hagos do it under those artificial conditions? Very easy to criticise as usual.

It's sports, my friend; you cannot win every time. Knowing that he stumbled in the last two hurdles, those times five years ago were still world records. Maybe you underestimate such incredible achievements.

@@RunnerUniverse It was a joke referenced to your karsten training video, which I don't believe. He is obviously the best ever in the 400mh, also my favourite.
@RunnerUniverse8 күн бұрын
@@davidcostacampos6039 You can believe anything you want, and others can too. For me, his training makes sense. I believe in 95% of his reported training and how much TIME he spends improving his performance. Karsten is not a naturally talented sprinter (he started as a multi-event athlete), so he WORKS hard to close the gap with his fellow 400m hurdles runners, such as Rai Benjamin and Alison dos Santos, who have much better times and speed in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. CLEAR 😊
@davidcostacampos60398 күн бұрын
@@RunnerUniverse If you believe it makes sense to workout 8 hours a day sure, like you said we can believe anything we want, just check other olympic coach's methodologies and see how much derivative it is. I know he and Alison are from a different league and I am positive one of the 2 will win the olympics. cheers.
@RunnerUniverse8 күн бұрын
@@davidcostacampos6039 My friend, with all due respect, I'm not lying when I say that I am likely the person who has looked into or has access to the most coaches' philosophies and training systems on earth. Other Olympic coaches' methodologies have not produced anyone capable of running the 400m hurdles in under 46 seconds. Why should I believe in them? (Believe does not mean they are wrong, but that their methods may not suit this type of individual. P.S. I believe in different paths of training to achieve your goal.) You also misunderstood the 8-hour training time. Re-watch his training video without a predetermined view, and you will find great unconventional information. One of them is that his 8-hour training sessions are not entirely TOTAL work-most of it involves warmup and rest-and these sessions are not done EVERYDAY. take care
