Thank you for this video I found it very useful. It appears that some of my koi have a fungus infection. I have added acriflavin to my pond hopefully that might work if it’s not too late. I’ve have started to use medikoi health as an additional boost to their immune system and they are all eating well. 🙏Thanks again.

Drain the pond, saving as much water as you can. Do not disturb the silt or blanketweed in the process. Pressure wash all surfaces. Employ plenty of OASE phosphate binder (PhosLess) in your filter system/waterfall. Administer one preventative dose of CBA once water temperature is consistently 12C. Buy more PhosLess ready for replacement in 6 months time.

You need to add more aeration and plants in order for the algae to not grow

Could I just take this opportunity to mention that the Kusuri Anti Bac spray is a terrible design. Unless the bottle is 80% full, you have to change position to gef it to spray.

Koi clays keep my phosphates in check. Aluminium silicate sulphate in certain clays bonds with phosphorus and acts as a flocculant. Blanket Answer seems to work through enzymes and minerals, so important to apply whilst growing heavily. I feel the best products to use in the winter are Envii Winter Treatment, Koi Clay and a mighty protein skimmer. Reducing dissolved organics and combining phosphorus to clear water is key at the very end of Autumn (as plants stop or die back). Worth checking ammonia also, as string algae will feed directly off it. That's why I use winter pond bacteria in below 10 and stop feeding.

I’ve had this kit for few years it now comes with a separate pH tester I’m not sure if that was an additional charge or the company decided to test pH a different way. I got the aquarium kit AQ2 - K. I have used it a handful of times and to be honest it’s kind of hard to get in the rhythm, you definitely have to keep the quick reference guide on how to perform each task because it’s easily forgotten by the time I test again. But it works well for me because I’m slightly color blind I think and don’t care for the guesstimation of the other kits in judging the variation of the color. This kit gives me a definitive reading so I don’t have to compare Colors as some look different in the house versus outside light.

Next time you try this, be patient, if you leave it a couple of weeks the algae will die right down, turn black, the little bubbles will help lift the black slime, it will then float and get captured in a skimmer or you can net it, no need to scrub the pond , this will happen in you filters too. 👍

Hoping for some help from my KZbin friends here..I have a 1500 gal outdoor koi pond with frequently tested good water quality, gravity filter, uv light, skimmer, waterfall, plants, the whole works. Got 5 7r old koi and recently we recently added 4 new smaller koi. 2 of the 4 since died, 1 of my large koi has weird red stuff on his back side and back tail fin, and 1 other large koi I found dead inskimmer this am, i notice he is ore grey/white than blue/orange like he was before - no parasites on outside or anything..I was told by local to treat with Melafix and pimafix which we started 2 days ago. I have no idea if that killed the other koi today or if it was some other disease that is spreading. Any guidance? Should we add a parasite treatment and if so, thoughts on which?? Hoping for KZbin help here..thx!

Great video mate! I have recently done similar treatment to my showa with raised scales and seems to be like kind a bacteria infections. Real annoying but the spray works after couple days without needing injections. It is winter in down under and I should have PP the whole pond prior to weather. I have just subscribed to look forward for more future videos of yours, cheers!

From what I learned if you really want to get ready your FLUTES get song paziquantel. I couldn't find it at any stores so I had to get it online through Walmart under the brand PraztPro for about $30! This is the only thing that is supposed to work.

Hydrogen Peroxide kills off hair algae. To outcompete the algae with plants would take up half the pool in plants..or separate plant pond as a filter. Whatever happened to sand filters for Koi? Or small gravels in those filters? Seems basic..just use a good backflush system.

I would not be so keen to drain my pond and clean it like this. I have never drained a pond down and topped it back up with fresh water. You are removing all of the beneficial bacteria. There are a lot of chemicals going in to this pond. I agree with those that are saying a lack of plants is a big issue, this was my first thought. I am more a fan of ecosystem ponds as opposed to these sterile koi ponds. I like to see dragonflies, frogs, wildlife. I think direct sunlight caused by a lack of shading is a contributory factor. Some lilies to cover the surface and maybe even a vine growing over a frame to cast a shadow over some of the pond would make a big difference.

cleaning everything off the side has a detrimental effect on the eco system as it holds benficial bacteria, another cause of your blanketweed issue is the media your using, you would be much better of using a media that can use aerobic bacteria and anaerobic bacteria, as this will help lower your nitrate levels, as blanketweed needs nitrate and phosphate to grow minimise either of these and you wont have blanketweed. having said that lowering nitrate is easier than lowering phosphate. adding certain plants will help massively, or setup an anoxic filter. the science behind it is quite complex but the setup if fairly simple and the effects are mind blowing

Hello, I have a question: some of my fish are sick, and I got the sick fish out and put them in a different pond. And I'm gonna get my other koi out of my aquarium but is that safe with the same water without the fish? I'd like a reply
@LightYerPipe4 жыл бұрын
You really need to be careful how you inject pectoral fins you could end up paralyzing the fin. You need to stop messing around with your fish so much, all you keep doing is weakening your fish's immune system, when are you going to realise a healthy fish will normally heal without interference. So far as messing with your koi so much i have never ever seen anybody worse than yourself. I'm sorry if this offends you but i have never seen so much interference in all my born days. I wish i knew who the vet is providing you with Ms222 and all the prescription meds as i would give them a piece of my mind.
