We can all complain about ebay fees and it won't change a thing. They are basically the Amazon of re-sellers and no one can compete with them. Besides, large auction houses are worse, they take fees from both sellers and buyers.

I found the Ebay auction and it matches the item number. They did charge $4.43 for shipping too. This seller has over 2680 sales and just now figured out they charge for aspects of selling? I can't share the link but I can email it to you if you haven't found it yet.

If CGA needs funding they need to think about how much of the business they're going to for this round of funding. You either give away equity or pay interest. It's called business.

I believe eBay now charges fees on shipping. This prevents sellers from circumventing fees by selling a $100.00 item for $1.00 and charging $100.00 for the shipping. Years ago (before they did this) I remember a seller that sold ink pens that retailed for about $10.00 for $1.00 each and he had tons. He was charging $2.50 for shipping so it was still a decent deal. However, someone bought 500 but didn't realize that his $500.00 purchase cost him $1,250.00 in shipping because the seller did not offer combined shipping. It was noted so he didn't really do anything wrong although it was a little shady. I'm not sure of the final outcome but it did teach me to read terms on anything very carefully. Happy Sunday Mike, good stuff as always! That feeling of finding and looking at cards I forgot about (including a bunch of TTM autos) from 50+ years ago was my inspiration to start collecting again in 2020.

Great run down! I don’t have a lot of free time around my job and my kids sports and other extra curricular stuff to be able to catch these stories so thanks for taking time to put this together! On a side note, have you ever made a video on strategies to sort cards? I’m recently getting back into collecting so I pulled out my cards from when I was kid which were sorted by year/brand/#. It’s a modest collection at best so nowhere near any complete sets. But my son and I are having fun doing ttm, but it’s hard to find out if I have multiple cards of the same person with this sorting. Long story short I just alphabetized all of them… it will work great while we’re ttm’ing but also has other drawbacks. Just looking for other ideas. Most videos on sorting are about how (what box, sleeving, etc). Maybe it’s a topic not that interesting for you to want to do but just curious if you’ve thought about it.

I don’t even know what to say about CGA…except I will not be considering them for grading lol. 2025 Topps? A much better design than 2024 in my opinion. How do these printing mistakes get to be more and more outrageous?? I am definitely glad I am not spending money on this stuff anymore. Their quality control is out of control. That collection that your friend went to see is AMAZING! Looking forward to your newsletter this week. Sounds like some more great stuff. In other news, booked a trip to Maine this summer. Fees are 12.5% - looks like he also chose to promote the listing for 3%% should’ve chosen 2% (neither here nor there), AND he didn’t have to. You cannot take the benefit of a promoted listing, then complain when it sells!! Wasn’t that the goal?? And shipping label? DUUHHH, yeah you should be charging the customer so can’t see how you lost there. Bottom line, he’s free to go to shows, pay the table fees, his time and possible theft. Or, he can use eBay (what I do 😀). Are fees high, meh not really. It’s the safest platform with the most eyeballs

I suspect that WBC card was so cheap simply because people care far less about WBC than MLB.

While I know it just ended I was surprised you didn’t include anything from the Memory Lane auction. It was non stop banger after banger after banger after banger vintage wise. Tons of sick high end cards. Mantle’s, Clemente’s, Aaron’s, Banks’, Robinson’s, Brock’s, Rose’s, Ruth’s, Gehrig’s, May’s, Young’s, William’s, Gibson’s and on and on pure 🔥

Awesome Story Mike........ I always Look at the Tiger Woods Upper Deck Rookie over your Shoulder and I recently submitted some Tiger Woods to PSA for Grading. To my surprise I got one of the Tiger Woods I submitted back as a PSA 1, I was Shocked! After 24 Years of People grading Upper Deck Tiger Woods Rookies this was only the Third card to be graded PSA 1 in the Population. The Reason I was Shocked about this was because I opened the Packs of all the Tiger Woods that I submitted in my LCS at the time and every card went right into a Penny Sleeve and a Top Loader and sat in my closet for 24 Years until recent Grading. I have thought about breaking the card out and resubmitting to see what might happen but then again there are only 3 of these in the POP. It is Scarce in this Grade............ LOL What a Great Hobby to be a part of................

Sweet Cousy auto card! Love the TTMS. I just picked up a Russell RC late last year and looking to add a Cousy and since Ive been watching your videos lately it brought me right to this one. Now have a dilema in whether to go for a mid grade unsigned copy or an auto copy regardless of grade.

I too follow Mattyc. He always has interesting comparisons. He does however think centering is the only thing that matters. Over the years centering has become more important. I think is because you can't judge corners from a scan.

If it was authentic then you would never get the card the card would be returned to the sender from the authenticator and your money refunded

Neat story Mike, cards signed back in that era are definitely rare. I did a lot of TTM from 1970-1973 and many athletes wouldn’t sign the front of cards. I still managed to collect several but it wasn’t common. As crazy as it sounds I used to scribble or put an X across the back of the card hoping they would sign the front.

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle signed..per Jan 2025 psa dna pop, 20. Of those 20, about 6 are signed in BPP. BPP is preferred pen choice for vintage cards in that was pen during period of playing days.. as was case of fountain pens for pre WW2 (as example) Sharpies began to be pen of choice for cards in 1980's and onward for shows by players (less pressure to sign items vs BPP) The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle signed card in BPP that sold Dec 2024/Goldin was psa 3 card and auto 10. A small percentage of the 20 signed 1952 Topps Mantle cards have auto 10 grades. The 3 / 10 Mantle was signed in the 1970's from original pack pull collector from 1952 who then got Mantle to sign his card in mid 1970's.

Love my Mickey Mantle card collection. I even sold my Aaron judge rookie auto and used that to buy a pristine Mantle autographed baseball. (I bought the judge card the winter before he hit 62 homers, and it sold for 5x what I paid).
