Thanks for the video Mike. Enjoy the card shop reviews. However, not a fan of the “traditional” cases. Between the glare from the lights, but especially how difficult it is for vintage customers to see the second shelf and the bottom shelf - I like angled shelves at eye level. 😊

Sounds like great fun! The 1888 book is a redemption, send cigarettes coupons to company and they send the album. It has the cards images printed in with more beautiful artwork. This has Einstein and others in the album. What did he want for it? I have a couple of albums, birds and animals.

I'm sure somebody will comment that actually know, but... I believe the inventors were distributed in tobacco and you could mail in to get the scrapbook to paste your cards in. I have a friend whom ribs his wife a bit for scrapbooking, so I always tell him you know cards were originally made for scrapbooks.

Always fun to go to a LCS. The one by just did a video n expanded to be the largest in NJ. Will CK it out. Tennis, yep I played doubles in HS as a senior also. I use to watch in person the Volvo Cup for women n watched Tracy Austin, Hana Manlinkova, etc...onntv Bjorn Borg against McEnroe!! McEnroe would have fits. Borg had by far the best backhand down the line. Unbelievable!! Always fun to go to a game! Popcorn, beer, etc...Take care buddy.

Great video Mike, the nontraditional sports cards are so underrated. Favorite tennis player? Jannik Sinner (got in on the ground floor with him back when he was only getting wildcards to tournaments) and Marta Kostyuk she's been slowly climbing the ranks

@@collegehoopsguy It depends what you mean by break through. Have one tournament where they get lucky with the draw and go deep perhaps maybe even win it? Sure, that’s possible. If you mean maintain that level of success it’s highly unlikely. Both of their games have peaked and they simply aren’t the cream of the crop. Both around the same age, already 26+, is far too late to be blooming in tennis. They’re your standard top 20 guys who just don’t have it.

I like Don's, I go in a couple times a year. If I went more, I'd spend more money! I went in around Christmas time (got a couple singles and hobby box) and there was an older gentlemen manning the counter who didn't seem to know much, probably just covering for someone, not holding it against the store. Also, found out that they are participating in the Topps MVP BuyBack this year, so you can turn in your Ohtani's and Judge's for store credit. If I didn't have a running credit balance at D&A, I'd probably go thru them.

Currently playing in The G league on the Maine Celtics. Draft pick #54 right before Bronny..😂 Anton Watson..hoping the best for him. Never been into tennis, but Jan Michael Gambill graduated a few years after me at the same school. He was all you heard about during that time around here. Nice Kobe pick up! I need that card for my collection as well. You wont find a Lebron rc in my pc though..

Unfortunately here we don't have an LCS in my area of California that's affordable. Looks like a great LCS there and love the wax wall. Unfortunately, I'm no longer buying wax anymore. I have more than enough sealed wax as you know by now. Focused now only on singles. Just won a raw mint condition 97 Competitive Advantage Kobe Bryant card this morning. I didn't think my bid would win. Nice way to start off 2025. Thank you for sharing!

We were up pretty high but we were able to watch the action on the court and just see highlights on the Jumbotron. Our seats were $200 each, so it’s not something we’d be able to do more than once a year.

Like Orlando said they have printed images of the 1888 cards in that album. I'll message Ryan and see if he's interested if the shop owner wants to sell. He does a lot more inventors than I do. I generally only collect generals/presidents for nonsports. I have seen albums like that and they're in the hundreds but depends on condition as you know.

Some prices are high, some are low. Fact is, as someone who sells myself, we are in a day when the card market mimics a stock market and prices change daily, hell, high end cards can sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars difference the same day. It is near impossible to keep up with pricing. It is honestly stupid for a shop to even price things or for a dealer at a show to. At a show, it doesn't matter what you price it at, everyone comps the card online and wants to pay less than the online price anyway, so if they are going to comp it, spending hours upon hours pricing before a show seems like a waste of time, yet it happens every show. I digress, but pricing these days is dumb and expecting anything to be accurate is dumb. I wish everyone would just agree to comp at that moment in time.

If you don’t have prices, a lot of old guys like me won’t even stop at your table. I don’t want to waste my time while you comp your cards, only to throw out a 2x comp price. Tell me up front that your prices are crazy or reasonable so I can move on or stay.
