Sweet Bonds auto! Getting autos of iconic junk wax cards is so fun and gratifying. As a card collector you should appreciate auto cards like that. I also didnt like Kobe because Im a Sacramento fan but respect the hell out of the guy as a competitor. Becuase of that I only have a few Kobe cards and have regretted that he he. Btw, my favorite baseball player growing up was....Cory Snyder...Best signer ever. Have a few TTMs and he always wrote back a letter as well as signing the card. Got him at a game once and at a card show back in the day..and after the show was able to get a picture of him with my brother who has since passed. So lots of good memories with cards. I may be wrong but those saying they wont watch your channel because you like or dislike a certain player are probably kidding. I watch because of the many collecting topics you discuss that we have shared interests in and thats probably the way with all your viewers.

@JunkWaxHero Thats sad...at our ages, we should learn to enjoy life and see the positives. We each have to stay as healthy as we can and the negatives dont help in that respect. Love your channel as its entertaining, relaxing, informative and topics just resonate close to home. My brother btw was a huge Larry Bird fan and we got tickets in 1985 to their first appearance in Sacramento in the Kings inaugural season. The Celts were a juggernaut and the defending champs but the Kings actually won! We submitted the form to get tickets to a 4-game package and the Celts were with 3 other bad teams. Our strategy was not to put any 2nd or 3rd options for other 4 game packages and it worked! Tickets were $8....was 13 at the time...40 years later and Kings still havent won anything he he. Well be trying to win at Boston just to get to .500 he he....i think we got a 5% chance.

That 87 Topps set brings back mixed feelings for me. Historically it was inspired by the 1962 Topps 25 years later. My third grade teacher was into cards and baseball and read us an article about it. I initally thought it was a neat set, but these things were everywhare to the point you could trip over them. I remember when a classmate got the Tiffany set in 87, and I didnt understand what was so special about them? Hey at least they arent 1985 topps! I was so dissapointed with 85 Topps that I couldnt wait for 1986 to roll around. It could be a reason why I blocked out 1985 from my memory (and and the "we are the world" song played every day like a torture device).

We all should collect who and what we like. Like you, I love Pedro, Big Papi, and Mookie, but I still collect Clemens, too. Congrats on the Bonds card. I’m not as big a fan of ‘87 Topps (I prefer the Donruss and Fleer designs that year), but can relate to the nostalgia. 1980 Topps is the set for me (first year I collected). I love when Topps Archives uses that design. Also like 1982 Topps - the first complete set I put together….and then sold after graduating from Grad School.

Twice as handsome without the earphones and I think the quality is pretty good. Just missed the evacuation for now. Answer to your question is that yes, you have to like what I like😂. It’s ok to veer off on your own a little bit though. Oh how I wish I bought what I didn’t like because now I do like it and it’s costing me dearly😅 Broth has a great eye for cards, that’s for sure. Love the 87 Topps Bonds. I used to have vending cases in my garage back in the day. My ex wife has a pallet of wax in her garage and when I go to Texas, we open a few boxes with the grandkids. I always loved Bonds. Greatest hitter I ever saw.

'87 Topps - absolute nostalgia for our generation. I also had enough cards for about 7 sets, but pared it down to one hand collated set and a factory sealed set. Still have several Cardinals team sets, however, as they and the Wizard were my favorites!

What a beauty that Barry Bonds is! Very cool pickup. I will say, as a Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman fan, I understand how you feel about people “hating” who you may like. While I have not run across this on my channel (yet), I have run across it over and over again in general baseball conversation. And I have been accused of not being a true MLB fan, and with others it remains a point of contention and we don’t even talk sports these days. So I get it. But I don’t know how someone can just tell you they aren’t watching your channel anymore. Anyway, great video and thanks for sharing!

I’m maybe a month younger than you (3/10😂)and we are absolutely aligned on our thoughts of 87 goodness! They just hit different back in the day. I was a Kevin Mitchell guy as a kid and boy did my meager childhood funds get dwindled away for his stuff. Haters gonna hate! Been watching for a long time. I have been sitting on a blaster of Tennis, not sure why, so I paused and opened it to see if I pulled any /199 cards. Unfortunately I was skunked but a found a /25 orange. Now I might be hooked!

The Bonds looks like it may of been a Goldin 1990s Home Shopping Channel Autograph Card, they where usually numbered to 500, 1000, 1500 etc.

having gotten back into the hobby less than a year ago, I have been somewhat surprised at the fandom and level of nostalgia for players like Clemens (Mid-Life Graig's fav player or one of them) McGwire, and Bonds. I think BB should be HOF. I'm only disappointed at what his career would have been w/o the extra help cause he still would have been very good. certainly doesn't bother me if someone else holds him in high regard. for me personally, if I never owned a Mickey Mantle card for my PC, I'd be fine. as far as classic baseball is concerned - NY teams ranked - Brooklyn, NY Giants, then the Yankees. but if we all liked the same thing it'd be boring and nobody would want to trade or sell their Mantles, Kobes, Birds, or whoever.

As a child (and probably as an adult) I have limited aesthetic taste, and I still knew enough to despise that tired old station-wagonesque design. Hate hate hate it.
