it is m8 Dion and the Belmonts rocks man KZbin need to stop being this way this is redonculous, you know before this crap happened more people was buying the albums people would put in their videos now those artists are making nothing at all cause of videos in the mid 2k to 2014 musicians were making tons of sales causse people wondered who did this song and bought the mp3 /record/cd and other media formats now absolutely hardly anything i know cause a local group who is ran by friends of mine in high school sued to make many sales of their albums they are Sideways Reign now hardly hear about them all you hear is oh Taylor Swift wow how original a lady with a pokemon move for a last name her cousins name is probably tina quick attack, oh Nintendo go sue Taylor swift for using a pokemon move that is patented they probably will, well on the subject at hand i would get legit tunes from cool old school techno groups like altern-8, Noise Overload, DJ Raap she is still around thanks to classic youtube, heck even tons of oldies people went out to buy bunch of oldies they missed back in the day, even rare cool remakes of 70's songs and the rare long version of the Martian Hop by thee Randells which was taken down even a techno version Snoopy versus the Red Baron i think the musicians should sue KZbin for the loss of revenue heck there was some very cool techno trance songs that was on records im still trying to find again, also me and thousands of other would share on many social media sites about the songs found even art sites as well but can't do that any more.

Very cool! I'm impressed that the 45 converter plays the record so steadily without any drag. BTW, i'm wondering if you could add a super-lightweight metal or plastic finger-hook to the 45 adaptor's tonearm. It would make cuing up a 45 so much easier.

A really cool turntable. It reminds me of other record players like Capehart. I'm from Connecticut originally. Did you know a guy named Fran Merancy? He was a big phono collector too

I have an Edison Blue Amberol of the same song and singer, and serial number (1560)...but no announcement! So there must be two versions of this particular BA. Is yours bevelled or flat on the edge? (Mine is bevelled).

Why was the film left behind?
@amberola1b
@amberola1b 2 ай бұрын
It was probably a project in progress by the film students at Connecticut College back in the 1970s and it was never finished. A number of the scenes in the film were in small sections that I had to try to splice back together in some form of continuity. Who knows why it was never finished or why it was made, but I'm glad the film was made as a sort of time capsule of a local business from the past that doesn't exist anymore.

Good video! But I have a question. Can I use SILVERTONE Recording Wire spools on my Webster Chicago Wire Recorder model 80-1 Wire Recorder or must I always use it own Webster Chicago and Webcor recording wire spools? And what about other recording wire spool brands?☺

Amazing piece of audio history. Hearing it sounding so good makes it easy to imagine how people reacted back in the day. I am very grateful you took the trouble to produce this.

I shot mag-striped film in the late 1970s always hoping to eventually put sound on it, but I never did... however, I recently discovered a mag-striped roll from 1982 that I shot in a CP-16 with live sound recorded in-camera - that was a treat!

I'm a little late to this party 9 years since the OP. My dad was a clergyman and in 1950, a wealthy parishioner gave him a Brush "Sound Mirror", BK401 on which to record his sermons. By the late 50s it was in my room, my friends and I having a great time recording our own "radio" shows. The 1/4" tape was paper, not polyester and very much prone to breaking, especially when re-winding. One had to be very careful when splicing that no tape glue residue was present or the splice would stick and cause a rats nest next rewind.

In the 1950's a company made 33 rpm shellacs as kind of EP, the record player couldn't play this and also not home recordings that also could be in normal groove and 33 rpm.

Sounds good. Did you do anything with the can capacitors ? I cut and mounted new electrolytics under them in the units I rebuilt. I wish I could record on mine. My mics are bad. Will try and rebuild them with new crystal or ceramic mic’s sometime.

Thanks so much for this info! What kind of bulb does this projector take? I'm thinking about picking one of these up from a local vendors mall. The colors on that old film (looked to be mid to late 50s) were wonderful! Also, did you check out ball bearing grease, like they use on trailer tires? It's really thick. Thanks again!

Has anyone ever tried adding a bias oscillator for recording? That was apparently the key development in magnetic recording the alliies discovered during the occupation of Germany at the end of WW2.

Fantastic! I love it! I have a sizable collection of open reel tape machines (with my oldest being a 1958 AMPEX 601-2), but I don't have any wire recorders, and I've never even seen one first-hand. This is totally cool, and in gorgeous condition! Thank you for sharing!

I've had some wire recorders over the years. This one sounds awful. If one is playing right, they are indistinguishable from a tape recorder. You've got to fix the wow and flutter. Then figure out where the distortion comes from. Why don't you record some music from KZbin?

I actually own one of these. I got it from my Grandparents back in the 70's. They played it a lot in the 60's. I haven't played it years and the electric cord needs to be replaced. I'm sure it will still work. It eas fun watching the video of my exact turn table!
