Awesome! I didn't start driving until '88(Wickes Lumber). Then went OTR for six weeks, hated it. Came home and have been working locally since. LCL Transit is still in business. Thanks for the ride along!

Wow! Brings back lots of memories, I learned to drive truck in '77 working in the Colorado Oil Fields, started as a swamper, we rode around in a '59 IH conventional with a two stick! the guy I swamped for was a functional Alcoholic, taught me the fine are of drinking and driving.. One night outside of Limon CO, he was plenty drunk and said "kid, tonight you get to learn how to drive this! out on why 287 what a learning experience! 19yrs old, only a class c license.. by 1980 I was driving a late '78 KW Conv pulling a flatbed and taking pictures with my cheap 35mm was going someday make a book out of it. but it didnt happen, later got an opportunity to haul swingin beef out of Greeley to NYC running team, that was an experience! Moved around the US and pulled a tanker, and then box and reefer before getting off the road in '87 because my wife at the time was not strong enough to be home alone with small kids. I went back later working weekend casual running from Minneapolis to Chicago twice a month until 9/11. I miss the road, but there's too much traffic these days

Thank you so so very much 🙏 I've been searching for a guideline to this as a recent grad trucker (new to industry). This job seems like one that requires ongoing chiropractic adjustments 😅, especially if things are not done properly! Thank you for helping us stay safe and mindful of this detail while on the road!!!

I have the purple double seat cushion which is one grade lower than this one and have had it now for almost a year. I don’t like riding in the Freightliner without it but after this one year, I believe I’m ready for another one. It did really good for a year. Thanks for the video.

Man I swear if I was a younger man or could go back in time, i would have done trucking instead of the military. As a kid, and young teen, I wanted to be a long haul trucker, i hated being in one place too long. I joined the army and did 20 which satisfied my travel bug but since being home I wish id have done trucking. Im messed up now and cant hack a physical for D.O.T. respect to all you truckers out there past and present!!!

Time slip......if drivers and onlookers had known it is close to ending; and how the industry would end .....they would have either been in disbelief or deniers, or "who cares" just drive. Were the earlier tractors better ? I believe so 😅 A hearty thanks to you, you old jake brake😂🎉

My dad, Gene Kaldahl, drove for Dart during that time. He drove a blue and white Freightliner and got a new bronze and white Peterbilt in 79. Dad is still doing good at 82 years old. Also, my cousin Steve Groulik drove a blue and white Peterbilt. One of my dad's best friends, Bill Tally, also drove for Dart. Bill drove a white White cabover. I just talked to Bill on the phone today for his birthday. He's 94 today and doing great!

Nothing, however many of us started in to trucking when they were common because of length laws at the time. Most truckers at the time would have preferred a conventional all things considered. When trailer length went up cabovers reached comical designs with short wheelbases and setback front axles. Terrible truck. When the laws changed drivers gladly switched into anything else. The cabovers of the 1970's were truly nice trucks. To get assigned a brand new 1978 Pete, Kenworth, Freightliner, International, White, Mack, ... they were all good. It's too bad the people restoring those old trucks make them into cartoon figures, they were perfect stock.

They can't be kept in cars. If they hit over 105deg the structural integrity is diminished. They seem to be better than the competitors but not hard to justify the price. Unless you're suffering bad you can probably get something cheaper

4:05 White Motor Company owned Western Star and Autocar and Freightliner for a few years. Later they purchased or merged with GM heavy duty trucks, hence the brand WHITEGMC. This was after they also merged with Volvo trucks. I worked at a WHITEGMC which became a Volvo dealership for 31 years.
