Do they have a good quality WiFi on the bus? I need to travel from NYC to Montreal next February and I'm thinking to take this bus.

Hi Thank you for the video. Can you provide detailed information about the passport control process at the US-Canada land border crossing by Land (with bus)? Is there an entry stamp in the passport ( for non American Citizens)? If not, how can we prove that we have entered Canada or the US in future visa applications?
@thoughtsontravelandlife2 күн бұрын
Yes. First, everyone gets off the bus. Take everything with you. Bottom of bus is opened and you grab your luggage and walk to passport control. This is in case the agent decides they want to search your bags. This is rare, but in a bus of 40 people they might pick one to search their bags. So you bring yours just in case. Get your stamp, put your stuff back on the bus and off you go. It takes about 45 mins to 1 hour

I moved to Canada from the UK 18 months ago. The prices, even in cheaper supermarkets like Super C and Maxi are 20-200% higher than the UK for similar (ie not imported) items. The differences are lower if you buy in bulk though. Canada desperately needs what the French call a magasin a hard discount like Lidl or Aldi to give some real price competition

Im sorry, you sound like a great dude, but the entitlement that cyclists have is why most people outside of the plateau can't stand y'all and the majority of the city's peoples opinion will never go in your favour. "Fighting for their lives?" How? They are on a street with cars, that's it. Should every street have bike paths, now? Or be closed to cars at all times of the year? Should the plateau be closed to any and all cars throughout? Im sure you'd say "no". Then if not, what streets do we keep open or closed? What metrics are we using to decide besides selfish personal preference? When there are tons of bike paths to use, and cyclists refuse to make a simple 30 second detour to use them as a safer option, and then cry about a street having too many cars, your "security" no longer takes priority over businesses that are trying to survive and greatly benefit from the car traffic.

Don't take personally buddy. You're near to cry for it. Is this a "woky" ultra sensitive sensibility. If you carry on with an accent, the anglosaxon one for instance, be proud of that. You make grammar and spelling mistakes, natives quebecois make 3 times more than you.

The developers Carbon lea had to jump through alot of hoops just to get the approval. In the original plans there were ambitious plans for a few big ticket items that had to be scrapped..It's such a shame that the council couldn't fully share in the vision of the developers. If anything, they should be thankful someone had the dream and vision to turn a neglected old industrial area into a vibrant public space...

I am watching this video in 2024 and now we know much more about the Kennons and what was behind their decision. Even many of the channels you have named have disintegrated and many have decided to move back home. During the time the Kennons were in Mexico I was obsessed and wanting to live there. I came back home due to the inflation and I’m super happy I did. I have travelled to about 10 different countries afterwards and I have discovered bigger and more amazing places than Mexico. Like you said Dan, the world is a big place PS I am going to Vietnam, Dang in February. Got an amazing flight deal from Ottawa. Life is super cheap there. Got a cheap condo on the beach. Luxury for $400 a month. Would you ever consider going there? Flights are cheaper from Montreal .

I'll agree that Canada and the US are "Western Countries." But, spoiler alert, Colombia, as well as the rest of South America, Central America, and not to mention Mexico, are also "Western Countries" since they are all located in the western hemisphere. So going forward, I would recommend you stop referring to Canada and the US as "the west." I could care less what you do, but having lived in Colombia, Bolivia, and Guatemala, I can just advise that some people, not all, but some might find that insulting. Just saying.

You’re in Quebec speak French, you’re in Canada speak English. I’ve been hearing that all my 65 years. The French were saying that when Canada was all English, before the whole country supposedly was bilingual. Absolutely do not take it personally. It’s bigotry. I can say that because I’m not in the labor force. Cash talks when you are the customer. I can go anywhere and do anything and say whatever I want when I pay $ at the store, bar or whatever. Everyone is your friend as long as you have $.

As a San Diego, California, USA citizen who visited Montreal, who does not speak French, I have never been more welcomed by the residents. Actually, they went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Their first question was always, "Why are you visiting HERE?" My answer was always, "Because I wanted to say hello to you from California. Tell me about Montreal please". After that, I never had a problem.

Born and raised in quebec. Raised by English parents but I learned French by making friends before I even started school. And I feel like a quebecer. I don't have an accent when I speak French, I guess I have a quebec accent. And I RARELY encounter prejudice. When I do, it's usually because I'm speaking English in public with friends. And every time it happens, I tell them I'm born and raised in quebec. And I am probably more "quebecois" than they are. In french. They have always shut up after that. As for my professional life, it's only been beneficial. Being fluently bilingual is a massive advantage when none of your coworkers or bosses speak English, and you land a multi-million dollar contract with a American company. The most successful quebecers I know are fluently bilingual. French only Quebecers are extremly narrow minded. They are clueless to the reality of the rest of the world and live in an imaginary bubble. It's sad honestly.

I've had a wonderful time here in Montréal, been here ten years so far (never leaving!). Je parle le français chaque jour. I really dont feel like i'm not accepted, i have loads of friends who invite me out all the time, has had lots of success dating in french, and I feel like I fit in. Maybe i'm lucky, but I really don't feel like people treat me poorly here at all, quite well in fact! Don't give up on Montreal, truly the best city i've lived in (and i've lived in Toronto, Vancouver, and Paris!)

Yup, I understand you. I grew up in Britain (Wales, in fact, where some people grow up not having English as a first language, but Welsh), where there the same thing applies with respect to accent, and respect to whether or not you speak Welsh, or Queen's English.... Or more proably now, a regional accent, which has been more in vogue for quite a few years in the UK generally. It's people's natural way to remind you that they might be better in some sense than we others might be... Our job is to to accept that people such as these might be accepted, too. It is not something to be taken personally. Thank you so much for this video 🙂
