How does life in Montreal and Quebec City, the two largest cities in the province of Quebec, compare? Let's talk about it.
Mentioned in today's video:
• QUÉBEC CITY... A City ...
• Montreal to Québec Cit...
My bias: I've been living in Montreal but have only visited Quebec City. I've spoken to people who live in Quebec City, but all considered I don't have as much knowledge as I do about Montreal. This video is just to get a discussion going. Share your own thoughts in the comments.

You might want to research Ste Genevieve, near St Louis Missouri, founded by French Quebecers during fur trading days in the 1700’s

Oh, Dan you are in for a treat if you go further east: Baie St-Paul and Tadoussac. Also consider going to Kamouraska on the other shore. Even if Quebec City did not have its charming architecture, the setting alone is breathtaking. You are also right about the openness there. Check if they will have their annual German Christmas market in December, it's lovely.

It would be a good Idea to start a serie on different regions of Quebec. Most vlogers only cover Montreal and Quebec and forget about all there is in multiple other regions of Quebec. The most beautiful and popular regions of Québec fir Québécois are : Charlevoix (Baie St-Paul, Malbaie, Tadoussac) the most beautiful hikes (Acropole des Draveurs, Mont du lac des Cygnes) Manoir Richelieu... Gaspésie région and.the amazing routec132 between St-Anne des Monts and Percé and the Interior with the Parc National de la Gaspésie and its gorgeous mountains and rivers. The Bas Du Fleuve région is also amazing specifically Par du Bic. The most exotic region of Québec is Iles de la Madeleine out of this world with long sandy beaches stretching over 10 KM, its red clifs and multiple deep caves, its parasailing community. The Lac St-Jean region with its many tourist attractions such as the Val Jalbert Gost Town its incredible St-Félicien Zoo its powerful rivers and the famous Lac St-Jean bike path around the lake. The Estrie region with itx charming Victorian villages and multiple wineries and roling hills. The Laurentide region with its down hill skying slopes, its rolling mountains good restaurants and fine hotels. The Lanaudière region similar yo tge the Laurentide region but less touristy with many beautiful waterfalls and this region is the Mecca of Traditional Québécois folk music. The Outaouais region with amazing lakes and cottage country with many bike path.

The Appalachian Mountains back there are so surreal, also I think you would find Acadian history interesting, Lafayette is a great place for it, tons of museums

Glad you enjoyed the train ride, (more than the people who got stuck 10h on the train with no water or food). I like Quebec city but at the same time, it's not Montreal. In one of your previous video you mentioned something like Montreal is like a bunch of small towns, but I would say Quebec is more continuous.

As an engineering student I did 2 internships in Quebec City, the first in the autumn of 1991 and the second in the summer of 1992. I remember the autumn was very rainy and foggy, and as my grandmother was dying, I was traveling often to Montreal on the weekend so I didn't get to know Quebec City that well. But I spent much of the summer of 92 riding my bike around Quebec City, not so much in the city, but just outside it. It's a much nicer place to ride your bike than around Montreal. If you have a car, it's also a good place to explore regions such as the Charlevoix, Saguenay, Beauce and Lower St-Lawrence, that are all beautiful. As to people, it's hard to explain why, but as a Montrealer, I just "click" better with other Montrealers than with Quebeckers from outside of Montreal.

Walking around old Quebec City is always a magical experience. I remember I went there when I was 18, it was my first time solo traveling, and I loved it so much. I was there in mid-october, the leaves were absolutely stunning, and I met so many interesting people and had so much fun. As I was leaving I did a ferry ride across the river, and it the Chateau Frontenac was glowing. Amazing. I would recommed you return in the summer time for the FEQ (quebec summer festival).

For other towns in Quebec I would recommend Rimouski for Bic National Park and Gaspe/Perce for beautiful nature in Fourillon National Parc and near the rock perce

I've only been to Quebec City once and it was a year ago in the fall. I found there was an angst there that I don't find in Montreal. An example is, we were taking the bus to the airport to fly back to Montreal and there was a guy who got physically aggressive with the bus driver, something I have never seen before in all the years I've been taking transit in Vancouver and Montreal. Quebec is a beautiful city but my first impression of the people wasn't positive.
