Yeah, I hope you have your wife on. She has a cute voice. It sounds a little bit like a chipmunk. I’ve noticed that with other Philippine women once in a while, not very often anyway yeah because see your wife on. Also, I went to the hospital in Manila when I had food poisoningand they ran all these tests and everything was like 5000 pesos when they were done over here in the United States that would’ve been probably $2000 easily…. I had very bad food poisoning and I attribute it to the donuts I got at the Cebu airport. They were custard donuts and they tasted tangy so the custard was bad and I was sick for three days. Thought I was gonna die. the hospital gave me very good care. It was very modern, but that was in manila. I’m going to retire in a few months and move to Dumaguete where my fiancé is. Sorry for such a long comment.

I'm just wondering if that little dance is the product of the process of dealing with LTO? Or, is this dance the by-product of having so much fun in the Philippines? So, how proficient is the DMV in vehicle registration?

Apart from mandatory insurance cost, how much is the cost for the annual full coverage insurance you pay? (and what's the scope of full coverage?)
@Americaninthephilippines
@Americaninthephilippines Күн бұрын
Our full coverage scope is like I remember from the USA. Includes accident coverage along with acts of nature...flood, quake, etc. The coverage value decreases every year with vehicle depreciation; our current policy covers vehicle up to 400,000 pesos and cost us 18,000 pesos ($310 dollars) for annual coverage.

That is a good point however it is one of the requirements for car registration here in the Philippines. Great info as i am preparing to live there permanently and this was really helpful. I've had Google Fi as a cell provider since its inception and it works well in the province and kept my same number. International calls and text prices are very reasonable for there. For many other countries there is no additional cost. The bill remains the same no matter where you are and it automatically sets up for your country. Quite a change from earlier times. Province life is not for everybody but you can adapt if you want to. For internet i bought a starlink mini. The service is expensive but i just pause it until needed. Wifi in my parts is fairly reliable but since I work remotely, extended down time is not good. I'm thinking of going solar due to brownouts but recommend at least a gas powered generator. I see folks bulding huge houses in the provinces but do not recommend it due to monthly utility costs. The simpler the better. Keep the videos coming as I find you sensible. Most of the other vloggers are way to much hype and folks might be majorly disappointed by the reality there. Appreciate what you're doing.

Dave and Joy, Is that hollow block and stucco construction? Is it easy to get topsoil delivered by the ton? Do they have cement trucks for large pours like the U.S.? What type of structural wood is used there? Thanks Dave M.
@Americaninthephilippines
@Americaninthephilippines 3 күн бұрын
It is hollow block and they call finishing or rendering. We got our topsoil from Joy's father's land on the farm behind our house. All of our cement was mixed by hand one batch at a time...very labor intensive for their modest wage. Coconut wood is used to make scaffolding and there are many choices for ceiling...cement infused sheets, pvc materials, and natural woods. Hope I got all the questions...great name by the way lol

Hello sir. Thanks again for sharing your experience in choosing your path. You are correct about cost of living here in the US as getting a bit too high and making it a bit tougher to live. Mind you, I work in healthcare as a Respiratory Therapist, so my family and I should be living comfortably. However, we still find it challenging to save. We don’t have credit card debt, or a mortgage (we rent), or auto loan. I have student loans that is the main debt that we have. It is unfortunate that it is so expensive now. I have coworkers that have gone with early retirement and moved to the philippines. They sold their house here in the US and live comfortably with the proceeds in the philippines. They have their 401K and Roth IRAs to count on when they reach their full retirement age. They are living their best lives in the Philippines; where we should be. Take care and keep up your good work!
