The melter in question is the seared one from the Tinker's Construct mod that you already made (along with the seared heater) to get your smeltery up and running. It's capable of melting hand-made brass dust and pouring it directly into a Create spout via faucet. Using it this way just lets you skip using a smeltery and the pump+pipes to get brass in there.

OOH okay, I get it now. I can set that up without moving the dripper thing I think. But also that allows me to not have to worry about other sheit that is tied to the big smelter.

Shift+Rightclick tells the gadget to build with the block you're currently looking at. Ctrl+Shift+Rightclick tells the gadget to bind to the inventory you're looking at, but also to build with the block you're looking at (ie: the inventory block in question). Which is just confusing if you're not expecting it. For whatever reason the bind command doesn't override the select block command. But as you discovered you can just select the correct building block after and it's fine. Also that tiny "X" to the top right of the crafting grid in the simple storage table will clear the grid and send all the items back into the inventory with one click. The igneous extruder can make various stone types but the recipes aren't necessarily intuitive. For example basalt = lava & blue ice on sides, and soul soil underneath. You can look up the extruder recipes in JEI. The utility of this machine is a bit limited with Alchemistry in the pack, since the Combiner accomplishes something similar.
@fadepanther6224
@fadepanther6224 Күн бұрын
OH! That's why I had an issue finding the right usages of the controls. Okay, got it [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[R-CLICK] and I don't have to make this weird roundabout why again. I'll look closer for that tiny [X] above the crafting grid. Oh? I'll VERY much look into the extruder within the game now. Just gotta figure out how... I think I've got a way. It may be limited, but basalt alone could be good to have building up.

Yeah if your Create pipe system is left with an open end anywhere while it's active, it'll give you that spraying animation and void the fluid. The quick & dirty way to fill a Create Spout is to just set up a Tinker's Melter above it with the faucet directly above the Spout. And although the Melter can't create alloys, brass is one of the alloys that can be made by hand from the constituent metal dusts.
@fadepanther6224
@fadepanther6224 Күн бұрын
Tinker's Melter? I'll look into that, so I can not worry about wasting ingots. Oh? I didn't know brass could be dust mixed. Maybe it is dusts that I can't make yet? In episode 18 I'll look into that.

Yeah, the dusts should be available via the Alchemistry compactor from their respective element.

Note if you bind the building gadget inventory to your cobblestone drawer, you don't have to carry any cobble on you as long as you're in the same dimension and the chunk the drawer is in is loaded. Or if you bind it to a drawer controller it can access all the drawers you attach to that controller. It can also pull materials from a Pocket Storage (the replacement for /dev/null in this pack) The three water wheels running at max output should give your setup 768su to play with, which is enough to run multiple machines at a moderate speed. I don't recall what the upper limit is, but you can also run more than three water wheels on the same line if you want to.
@fadepanther6224
@fadepanther6224 3 күн бұрын
In the 17th episode (As I have already made the 16th one) I'll try to figure out how to bind the building gadget to the drawer. Last time I tried it... just tried using the drawer itself. Yup, I think I'll test out 6 water wheels. Might as well go a little crazy.
@xenonkay
@xenonkay 3 күн бұрын
Yeah there's a bit of an oversight with the default key bindings but it still works. Since the bind inventory key combo also includes shift by default, it both binds to the drawer and selects the drawer as the block type to be placed. You can just re-select an ordinary cobble block as the block to be placed right afterward and leave the tool bound to the drawer.

Not sure when you started this run, but there's a recent update for FF:R to buff Hunter HP in earlier levels. Having finished a run-through with Spellblade and Hunter, I found them both underwhelming to the other classes. Hunters/Rangers limit is severely lacking and should just be a skill. If they were going to change it's limit, maybe have it to guarantee arrow materials from all on screen enemies and killed by anyone? I dunno. Just didnt care for it. Spellblade is good but requires a lot of ramping up and by the time they can do their big great damage, the enemies could've been killed already.

The hunter's HP mechanic seems to be that it's consistently every other level, whereas other classes start off strong early level and then taper off at later levels. So it's not bad if you're talking in terms of the long run, but then how often do parties level to 40-50? That and it's just so off-brand that they don't get lvl2 as a freebie like everyone else. The mage's name sounding like SARS is going to be so much more apropos once he gets BANE. The 120/360% thing is because AIM can be stacked up to 3x. It's just showing you what your current bonus is out of 360%. Yeah the wandering swordsman does that. Expect to receive a handful of free weapons until eventually he [Redacted]. Scarves? Man in tights? Checks out.

I think the logic behind burning netherrack being hotter is that it's technically a higher Minecraft "tech" level than lava. In a normal Minecraft world you can find lava by digging deep enough or right on the surface in places but netherrack requires going to the nether, which itself requires lava for the portal. The fired crucible even works with an ordinary torch under it (heat level 1) but oh boy if you thought 4 heat seems slow... You can get water to flow back under the water wheel by making a channel on the ground around it and basically just giving it a new direction to flow in. Fun fact about alumin(i)um: The chemist to first isolate the element and therefore had discovery rights, decided to name it aluminum. The spelling aluminium was the result of a standards committee in England who insisted that all metallic elements follow the same naming convention, ending in -ium. So they forced the change in England but some other parts of the world did not follow suit.

Whoops. Well at least the magic budget will be affordable this run. Every character in the original game got a strong HP up at level 2 to reflect how it works in oldschool D&D, where characters start out very squishy but their survivability basically doubles on the first level up. To have a character not do that is a complete departure from that design ethos. AIM adds +120% damage per round it's held, so on paper it's better than attacking for two rounds, provided you're hitting something tough enough to justify it. Important note about bows, so you aren't surprised later: They never multi-hit except under the effects of FAST. Instead they gain damage from additional hit% and crit a lot. Even then the Archer's basic damage is going to be pretty meh, but then he gets a disgustingly broken ability after class change that synergizes with melee characters. Literally an "F that guy in particular" move.

Nice! Here come the new classes! I can't wait to see this group through the story. I'm curious about how the Spellblade's Impart ability works. Do you use it first and then enchant the weapons or vice versa? I kinda wish the Archer/Hunter could heal the group with the poaches of certain kinds of monsters. But it's only been one episode. haha
@xenonkay
@xenonkay 5 күн бұрын
Only Paladin heals and potions this run. Post-promotion the Archer can scavenge on the world map though, which either gets a free crafting arrow material or causes a fight on the spot, which if you're grinding you probably want anyway. The Impart ability just straight up gives the other characters the Bladecraft trait for the round, so they'd need to have elemental or anti-family traits active on their weapons (the Monk takes another L here) to take advantage of it. Weapons that are innately elemental or anti-family benefit from Bladecraft even without having EN-anything cast on them. So even if you aren't hitting an actual weakness, you still get +50% base damage and +4--8 bonus damage. The bonus damage also ignores absorb, which isn't actually revealed in the description. The decision about how to handle Xcaliber is going to be rough with both a Spellblade and Fighter, though. Because now they have not one, not two, but three options of what to do with it.

So I guess the Dancers literally only equip Daggers. It's weird that you get two of the Katana though. I'm interested in both of the new classes. The Mystic Knight in FF5 can do some extreme damage if enchanted with the right spell. Will the next run also be the 1 Black Magic spell per level run?

It's hilarious to me that Dancers can just bully Chaos so thoroughly that he's reduced to slap fighting. Before you even set foot in the Sea Shrine I was thinking the Kraken was 100% going to attack first just to be a jerk because the ladies have absolutely no chance of surviving that without landing polka first. Tiamat 2.0 tried the same thing but they lack Kraken's raw punch. Forbidden spin's effectiveness is kind of meh below 150% or so. It's above that point that you really start landing effects more reliably. Last Waltz can be absolutely disgusting (like OHKO Chaos levels of disgusting), but only if you have the right mix of classes and buffs to multiply its damage. With only dancers your physical attacks are almost always going to end up dealing more overall unless enemy absorb is very high, and even then Sword Dance can fix that. What's also disgusting is the number of attacks you get if you wait for someone to hit max bravery to use Haste Samba. Evilman always had NUKE. They just don't normally survive long enough to cast it because they're squishy compared to other monsters at this level. Masamune and MuraMASA were both swordsmiths, rather than the swords themselves, and MuraSAME is a legendary sword with water-based powers unrelated to either. There are tons of legends surrounding them, most of which conflict with each other, but the ones that games tend to focus on is that Masamune made holy swords while Muramasa made evil ones. Muramasa's sword is said to be immensely powerful but cursed such that once unsheathed, it must draw blood before it can be sheathed again, even if it has to turn on its owner.

You can also make lava (albeit slowly) by using a fired crucible sat above a heat source and feeding most types of stone into it, like cobble or netherrack. It's just clay + bonemeal so very accessible early on. It too can be hoppered into, but until you get into pipes and tanks you'll have to bucket the lava out by hand. The building gadget has a wheel UI you can access with a key bind, similar to what the tool belt does. It lets you change what shapes (staircase is a handy one) or directions it builds in, and it has an undo in case you misplace. If you bind the gadget to an inventory (ctrl+shift+rightclick) like a drawer full of cobble, it'll draw from that inventory to build. It can also recognize a drawer controller or an applied energistics ME controller as a valid inventory (but not the simple storage root or refined storage controller) and have access to all their connected storage. Handy if you're building a house or something so you don't have to keep restocking your personal inventory. Yeah that's a bit of a trek. When you pulled up warped forest on the compass it listed the nearest one over 1600 blocks away, so that was unlucky. You might have been able to bonemeal or twerk on the nylium you found early on to get warped fungus to grow on that but I'm not sure how reliable that is at growing the correct type.

Fired Crucible? Okay, got to build that for sure. Annnd I've got to take an episode figuring out the building gadget's ins and outs it seems. I'm glad you noticed that distance. Ugh... Though the next episode doesn't get a lot done, it is me getting back home with a lot of digging... Also, I think I twerked on the warped ground and it wasn't doing much... so I might have to play with that.

They're just salsa-ing their way through the land, eh? I think there will be one more free Gold Bracelet in any of the next dungeons, but I think, other than that you're done with purchasable equipment. So I get it, Dancers dance. It's too bad they don't have a song though. That way you'd have a party of Sirens. I've been considering this party a trio of sirens all along anyway. Just a random thought I finally decided to share. This does inspire me to do the same and name the dancers after the Charmed Ones. Once you start your next run, I think that'll make you the first streamer to showcase the new classes.
