I'm making this video for you to help remind me of something that happened the other day when I was in the salon, and somebody asked me about the whole business of point cutting. That's where I personally started the journey with the 15 tooth layering scissor, which we have here from Scissorhands. As a hairdresser, what I used to do is do 99% of all my haircutting with a solid blade like this. I bet lots of you do that today.
When you create a shape, whether it be a classic shape, an asymmetric like Katy here that I asked to model for me, which she kindly did, I see stylists all the time using this, creating the shape, and looking in the mirror when they've blow dried the hair thinking "I need to personalise this. I need to add texture to the hair."
You'll see them in the salon, picking up sections of hair which have very obviously been cut with a solid blade, which you can see Kate's has, and then they will either do this... or this... or other manual techniques to create the finished look that they want.
What we're suggesting is, instead of doing that, you can use the layering texturising scissor, and very simply use it to remove the need to point cut altogether. In Katy's section there, we can see it's been cut with a solid blade. All you need to do is to work through that point cut area like this, to create a beautiful, soft point cut effect. You can do that very quickly and easily through the haircut. As you'll see from our other videos, you can create the overall shape as well as the texture in one go.
So I'd like to thank the salon that reminded me of that, and hope that you got something from this video to remind you there is an easier, quicker way, a better way, to go about your haircutting.
