a two-part video! thank you very much! 3600 yen is definitely expensive (oh, the joy of airport prices)... but there's a saying in Poland that goes something like "to get something for free is to get something for a reasonable price" haha. Priority pass sounds so handy! Especially with all the collaborations... The okonomiyaki looked really tasty, and the noodles inside were a nice surprise! We had a little laugh about the dorayaki being packaged and just placed on a plate, but i guess it's easier to eat it later if you're in a hurry, rather than having to carry around an unwrapped one... thank you for the video! hope you had a safe travel!

My Priority Pass won't let me have free meals at these restaurants after January, so I won't probably visit these restaurants any more... (unless I switch to a new Priority Pass).

The tuna always looks soooo good on sushi! It's so hard to get good tuna here, so I've never actually had it raw, just smoked in fancier restaurants, but it looks so nice and delicious over there... I find the seating area in the store very convenient, especially for people like office workers who pop out to get a bite to eat before returning to work, or people travelling or sightseeing; wish we had more areas like this here in poland! A local chain store recently launched "restaurant seating" versions of their stores that are in like maybe two cities so far, but from what i've seen not many people use it -- i guess it's a culture thing. Oh, and I'm happy that you got to have more wasabi! One packet was definitely not enough for such a generous portion lol Thank you for the video!
@IchibanYummyJapan20 күн бұрын
Yes, I also find the seating area at grocery stores very convenient ! I would say 95% of stores in Tokyo don't offer the seating area inside so I hope more stores will be introducing it :) FamilyMart recently has announced that they would eventually get rid of the seating area from all stores, which is sad news ;(

oh that broth looks so tasty! i know drinking all of it is bad for me because of the salt but its always so good... Tamachi seems like a bit of a quieter part of Tokyo compared to other places you've shown us, maybe because of the time of day, (so elegant, though! Reminds me of the city where my university main building is), but the food is equally as tasty it seems! I don't think I ever mentioned it, but i'm glad most restaurants in Japan (or at least in more popular cities) have an English option on their ordering screen. While I do actively study Japanese, it's good to know there's something to fall back on in case i blank out on vocabulary haha thank you for the video!! it's getting quite cold here on this side of the world so I hope you're keeping warm and healthy too!
@IchibanYummyJapan28 күн бұрын
Yes, more and more restaurants let you order in English on a tablet. Surprisingly when I visited YOSHINOYA (beef bowl restaurant) in Shinjuku a few years ago, they didn't have English available on their tablet menu but hope English is added by now. Yes it's getting a bit colder in Tokyo too and time has come to eat warm and hot ramen :) Hope you stay warm and healthy too !

Do most restaurants limit the time you can stay at your table? Generally when I go out to eat I like to sit for an hour or two afterwards and have some beer after the meal and relax. Though if the place doesn't serve alcohol I promptly leave.
@IchibanYummyJapanАй бұрын
Conveyor belt sushi restaurants, SUSHIRO, KURA and HAMA limit the time you can stay for up to an hour only when it's full. Some restaurant chains like GUSTO and JONATHANS also limit the time for up to 2 hours when it's full. When I want to stay for over 2 hours, I usually a visit a restaurant not very close to a station, so that restaurant wouldn't get full during my stay.

Whoa! That's a big selection of foods! My sister works part-time serving breakfasts in a local hotel, and it's fun to see the comparison between the selection here and the one in Japan! Everything, especially the meats selection, looks so appetizing! I can see why you would be disappointed with the desserts though, one would think that at such a price you'd get something more... unique? I asked my sister, and they commission a bakery here in the city for their desserts, some specifically designed to be themed after the hotel haha. The mousse still looked delicious, though, I like mousse-like deserts so much due to their light texture... yum! I hope both you and your mom enjoyed the meals and the travel! I was so surprised at the size of the onigiris! Before you said that the filling is only on the top, I thought that there was so much of it that it was overflowing - I guess you can't have everything! With the filling on the top, it feels more like a complicated rice sandwich of sort; still looks delicious though! The cars also looked cool (the prices a little less wow,,, definitely a saving-up for years situation for a person my age haha), and I found it interesting that you have to pay an entry fee to an expo like this! I suppose with this being less of an entertainment and more of an advertisement thing, the organizers have to pay to the venue and such... Definitely worth the entry price though! I hope you had fun, and thank you for the video!

Onigiri is one of the foods that I'm most excited to try when I go to Japan. I've made them a couple of times but it's not the same unless I buy it from a shop in Japan. I didn't even know they were wrapped so the nori stays crispy like that!

@@IchibanYummyJapan What do you think is a good Wafu Chuka restaurant in Tokyo (chain is okay) for gyoza and fried rice? I'm planning a trip in November and I'm planning to eat my way through Tokyo.
@IchibanYummyJapanАй бұрын
Personally I do like gyoza at 1. Mansyu and 2. Nankintei They offer cheap yet pretty good gyoza. Nankintei has no restaurants in downtown Tokyo, but Mansyu has a few in downtown areas. I believe Mansyu in Nakano is easy to get to since it's just one stop from Shinjuku by JR Chuo Line. I don't eat chahan too often but I hear chahan at Ohsho is pretty good. So delicious! Udon is my favorite kind of noodle! With curry sauce... I think could try to make that at home! It's a cool comparison between a big Tokyo airport and a smaller island airport, it's even much quieter there! I've only been to an airport once to watch planes with my dad, but it was so loud and packed (maybe because it was holiday rush...)! It's also nice to know that you can find different types of restaurants in Japanese airports - the best you can count on here is a McDonald's, maybe a KFC in Warsaw haha I also learned a Japanese phrase to use in the future today... Thank you very much for the lesson and for the video!

Thank you for the video! The triangle onigiris look supper filling, I'm not sure if I'd be able to eat more than one, maybe two if I'm super hungry! I've actually passed triangle onigiris in Carrefour, a supermarket near my sister's university, and it has the same opening system! Good to know that some good methods are just perfectly universal lol I think we have three flavours? Imitation crab, tuna and smoked salmon - I need to try one when I'm back there in a couple of weeks! I'm amazed at how clean Shinkansen trains are from the inside: we have a very similar line here called IC Pendolino, but it's not kept in the best of cleanliness at all times (going to the bathroom can be borderline traumatic haha) so seeing a clean and proper Shinkansen train gives me hope for the railway industry.

yummy! i'm always so in awe of how good the selection is in Japanese supermarkets. I've recently discovered that i can buy a tray of mixed sushi in my local supermarket for 370 yen more or less , but as you can probably guess, it's not exactly the greatest quality (nor freshness...); still it's better than nothing! It definitely inspired me to look into making my own sushi, haha. Thank you for the video!

We can't expect much for 370 YEN... For sushi, yes, supermarkets in Japan usually have a good selection but when it comes to other food, some supermarkets have a bad reputation. For example, even if a supermarket offers good sushi, their tempura can be very bad lol
