I like almost all Jinjer. But I'm much more fold of the song writing in their modern stuff. And I like them better as a 3 piece instrumentation. There is more of an effort to orchestrate their sound now...make it full with one guitar, a bass, and drums. IMO, this era of Jinjer was just another metalcore band. Today's Jinjer is something unique and all it's own. And Vlad is really underappreciated. The drums sound so generic. Vlad really brings something special to the band that this version was missing.

Great song, this band is one of my favourites. I can recommend some other songs from them, but you really can't choose any bad. Their albums Apex and Abyss have 1 great story, Awakening is the first track of Apex. Their newest album Phantoma have some new vibes, that you've heard in Blood Empress. Northwest Passage - cover of a canadian folk song False Walls - great chill song The Wind that shapes the Land - my favourite The Collective - from the new album

6:36 - Puddle Of Mudd's career was ruined the moment their lead singer Wes Scantlin started having on stage meltdowns and legal troubles up the ass, So somewhere in between 2011-2017, The band rebounded in 2018 after Wes finally got sober but their comeback was shortlived thanks to COVID, The Nirvana cover if anything just showcased that Wes' voice is shot to hell and needs serious improvement. But unsurprisingly not much has changed since then. 10:35 - Godsmack's one of those bands that is only mega popular in the US, Their debut came out in 1998 and they've gone on to be one of the most successful Nu-Metal acts on Mainstream Rock radio, With 13 #1 singles. (You might have heard their songs Voodoo or Awake before) Shinedown's another one that's US exclusive but they're the kings of Mainstream Rock with 19 #1 singles. Other successful US rock radio acts include Seether, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch, Bad Wolves, Volbeat, Pop Evil, and Halestorm.

This song was my first exposure to Jinjer back in the early 2010s. It was a suggested song on the music service I had at the time and I added it to my daily playlist. I listened to it for many years before I ever really looked into the band. I was blown away to learn it was only one amazing vocalist doing both cleans and growls. As well as the sheer talent that oozes out of of everyone in the band. I went down a deep rabbit hole and became obsessed with them. I still cannot get enough Jinjer. Great reaction, thank you!

It is very different. I think I like some of their other older songs better (A Plus or a Minus, No Hoard of Value, Outlander) and I might be wrong but this is the only song where I think she wrote about a personal relationship instead of something deeper. I think she sounds much closer to Alisa of Arch Enemy in this than what she sounds like now. Her singing started to change around the time they were signed to Napalm. In fact she put much more grit into their song I Speak Astronomy when they did it live than the way it is on the album. Getting signed and dropping the second guitar seems to have changed a lot. She eventually dropped the dreads and her cleans became cleaner. Every once in a while you hear that vocal tone on a note or two because it is the same person but a combination of getting older and maybe their career getting more serious did change things. I agree it's good but different. If you listen to any of the stuff from Cloud Factory and then listen to live versions of some of those they did later and then compare those to King of Everything (which is the album Pisces is on) and onward you can't miss the change. On a more subtle level Tati's vocal tones have changed like her outfits and looks. There are harsh vocal tones that she was using 6 years ago she doesn't use any longer. To hear her talk about it she's forgotten more about harsh vocals than most ever learn (to paraphrase a line in a Lethal Weapon film).
@RustySabita3 күн бұрын
I didn't have Alissa in mind, but I'll go back at some point and compare. I assume Cloud Factory was before King of Everything. I tried to notice that as I do through the songs. And that a good film to paraphrase.

the unfamiliar guitarist is Dmitriy Oksen -- the last founding member , left after _Cloud Factory_ to pursue an acting career , so the band just decided to remain as a 4-piece. they're still friends with him, and he does show up in the _Disclosure_ video to play the part of the interrogator. the rest of this album is right in this same vein (and many of us refer to it as "baby jinjer"). I think my fav on this album is _Until the End_ . I seem to remember Tati doing an interview discussing the evolution of her scream technique ; and iirc, she had "forgotten" how to do it during some down-time, and had to re-teach herself, and it just came back "different" and could never find that original sound 😅🤷♂

Fun fact every former member of Jinjer plus some fans and crew show up in their video The Prophesy. It must have been a blast to film that video even during the pandemic but it's pretty unusual that they don't have members that quit because they hate their former bandmates and never want to see them again. That story is something you hear all the time and I saw it when I played music. That's how you know they are all good people.

@@coder4liberty Yeah, I hear that story all the time, but it's cool they all get on still. Another band is Killswitch Engage. Luckily, they all remained tight and even appeared on a song later on, which I was so happy about.

The tea party scene characters are a rabbit, a dog and a tiger. There is an old fable about the rabbit the dog and the tiger. Long story short, a tiger wanders into the patch of woods that the dog and the rabbit live in and the rabbit alerts the dog. The rabbit tries to get the dog to teach him how he would get away from the tiger if it chased him but the dog explains to the rabbit that he couldn't possibly understand how a dog could evade a tiger. When the tiger comes, the dog tries to evade by running up a tree and the tiger catches him and kills him. Meanwhile, the mouse digs a hole and hides from the tiger until he leaves that part of the forest.

Thank you, Rusty! I love Home Back! Not only for the fantastic music and vocals, but because for me, it makes me angry and sad for two reasons: both the call against war (angry at the US warmongers who caused the conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine and won't let either end, if this statement makes anyone balk, they should read a book by former US State Dept official William Blum, "Killing Hope: US Military and CIA Interventions Since WWII", original title, "How Jimmy Carter and I started Al Qaeda"), and also connecting the dots that all of these US backed coups and proxy wars have intentionally prevented global cooperation to address climate collapse (in addition to the war profiteering, fear of a good example and attempts at resource monopolies), so wanting our Home Back is an idea not only for all the war refugees but also for all life on earth about to lose our home because of US war profiteering ("don't you leave us homeless"). Thank you for reacting to it! More of the history behind it: in 2014 was the US backed coup led by Ukrainian fascists (Azov Battalion, Banderites, etc) that started a civil war (or just pogroms) where for eight years the Ukrainian military, led by Ukrainian fascists, killed ten to fourteen thousand Russian speaking Ukrainians in the Donbas region including Donetsk (where Jinjer formed). The "fire in the hole" lyric in this song is about the Ukrainian military killing Russian speaking Ukrainians. You can find an old video of Tatiana saying she's afraid her government will shoot her. That's what Jinjer had to flee when they left the Donbas region to be an essentially homeless/refugee band on tour for years on end. Russia got involved in 2022 (after eight years of trying to use diplomacy to resolve the aggression by the US) to stop the US from handing nuclear weapons to the US backed fascists in Ukraine. The CIA and its cutout NED have always and continue to fund, arm and train fascists like this all over the world for the express purpose of staging coups like the one in Ukraine in 2014. Azov Battalion, Right Sector and others were placed in the Donbas to kill as many Russian speaking Ukrainians as they could get away with, with multiple failed attempts to blame Russia for these murders. The murders were taking place in the Donbas, which is why Jinjer had to flee that part of Ukraine (they had to decide between staying and being unable to tour or leaving family and friends to tour and being unable to return more than once per year). Sadly, I see many fellow Jinjer fans (and others) caught up by the US war profiteering propaganda that makes them think Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. This is utterly false. They sometimes point to Crimea. Crimea would have been more difficult for those US backed Ukrainian fascist groups, because there were historic reasons that Russia already had military bases in Crimea, none were added after the 2014 US backed coup, which is when the people in Crimea voted to leave Ukraine because they did not recognize the US backed coup regime which was de facto run by the US backed Ukrainian fascists (you can find video of those fascists pointing guns at the Ukrainian parliament). A friend of Jinjer's bassist Eugene was killed by Ukrainian fascists (not by Russians). When you listen to Jinjer's song Sit Stay Roll Over, take note that it has lyrics (by Eugene) directly quoting the mantra of some of these Ukrainian fascists, "one path, one past, one trust", which is then flipped in the lyrics to, "it's not one's path, it's not one's past, it's not one's trust, it's not MY path, it's not MY past, it's NOT MY TRUST!" Make sure if you get any part of that song stuck in your head, it's the flipped part and not the fascist motto. At least 87 to 95% of the world (see UN votes, etc) does not believe the US war profiteering propaganda, I just hope that number keeps going up! Again, thank you Rusty for this reaction! ❤️🖤🤘
