I think fishing kayaks have reached the pinnacle of what can be done with them. I'm still paddling and not complaining. Chad loves talking about Chad.

I remember when Chad was on with Wilderness Systems and Juan Verute and Jeff Little all used those kayaks. I’m old lol

That was actually really good info from chad. had no idea what his true background was and getting some of his in depth thoughts and views outside of directly talking about a single product is really epic

Won't be long before we have a 20' long 7' wide plastic kayak with a 150hp outboard.

I wish I was a Billionaire. I would hire Chad Hoover as my kayak designer 😊 Start a kayak manufacturing company and watch Chad design the perfect fishing kayak. That's what I would do, if I was a Billionaire 😮😊

I like that Chad discussed the entry level kayak. My 1st kayak was a Lifetime Tamarack, I made mods to it so I could fish from it and still own it and Love it. Having that small light kayak I can roof top to a small body of water and paddle is valuable to my Sanity. I can get away from the crowds.

That's the beauty of kayak fishing, getting away from it all!

Fishing is becoming a rich guy sport. I was on the shore yesterday and two boats with big lcd screens on 3 sides. 10-15k easy in electronics alone.

I think the most interesting future kayak would be an insanely light one. A 50 year old 12 ft Sportspal canoe weights like 34 lbs. Imagine using that as a basis for a fishing canoe where you could easily have a 12 ft extra wide pedal drive kayak weighing in at about 40 lbs including everything except the drive itself...
@@wendellfishing That one is complete insanity and not in a good way, it's a paddling kayak and it costs $8000 while being worse in every way than my $999 12 ft Sportspal Canoe. It's heavier, less stable and just not as good. $8000, for something straight up inferior to canoes made 50 years ago.

I think some of these topics that Mr. Hoover touches on were on point for sure. Like the kayak and the fishing kayak. The other the added motor to the kayak and Hobie should have stayed away from it to stay in a deferent category of the sport imo that was good business advice. I really do appreciate Mr Hoover for the sacrifices he made for all of us to have KBF and fishing competitive tournaments and just fishing kayaks. I know they won't say it but his marriage was apart of that sacrifice 😞 for the Industry/ Us kayak fisherman. Thanks Mr Hoover 🫡 all the sacrifice you made and still make.

i like how kayaks basically evolved, or devolved, depending on how you look at it, into what a skiff is.... lmao.

This was a really good podcast I’ve been smiling since they introduced the 2025 season of the kayak adventure series, Gene Jensen the team kayak trail and the KBF knucklehead series I’ve been really motivated to get myself ready in 2025. Wendell I do have a question regarding the minn kota refilling motor is the only trolling motor that will cut the shaft to 36 inches which is the rightful length you should have on a kayak, is this your feeling as well? I’m looking at getting the XTR 130 and putting the strongest trolling motor from Minn Kota to get me across the water for big lake tournaments! I’m trying to get into the crescent v2, Bonafide pvr 129 or Innovative Sportsman Osprey 1436 inflatable kayak for my river fishing tournaments! Thank you so much for your feedback.
