I’ve broken a wedge almost every year on the river. On the advice of a guide, I’m on year three of the kipawa.

To make a valid comparison you need to look at the voltage and amperage to see how many watts you are drawing. I suspect the Kipawa draws more watts.

Two years later this motor is going strong kzbin.infoUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

Hate to be a killjoy. But, I've heard the use of a Kipawa will nullify your Minn Kota warranty. Besides weedless vs non-weedless, prop design also takes into account the load on the electric trolling motor. As it is, trolling motors were not designed as primary propupulsion or to run a long time. They overheat. Also, they are not meant for speed. They're designed for torque, similar concept to a farm tractor. Also, they don't run at the RPMs or with the required prop pitch to get to speed. Where extra torque would be useful is if the wind should come up. I wish you would test some of these ducted thruster trolling motors. I can send you a link but would rather not post it here on this thread. They are of an open design where you can replace the thruster motor with whatever you want, the casing for the motor is a standard size, The speed control (potentiamoter) and the Electronic Motor Controller are all exposed outside the motor. Please provide me with a way to send you that link. They make some that are very powerful: 3500RPM, 3300W 160a at 24v or a 48v version at 2600W and only 55amps all for less than $500 (shipping extra).

Have had the Kip on my 40lb thrust for 7 years until it fell off? Put the stock blade back on and noticed a big difference in lack of speed and almost no power at all in reverse with the stock 2 blade. I don't run the motor in the weeds but otherwise highly recommend the Kipawa for maneuverability over the stock 2 blade!

I use UHS 3 cards and have had no problems (on a Hero 7 Black). GoPros can also play up if the firmware needs updating. Sometimes a reset can help. Sometimes removing then refitting the battery can help. Sometimes non oem batteries can cause problems.

I love the NRS Boundary boots but you are gonna need some sort of insulation. I fish tournaments during the winter and my feet still get numb from the cold...especially if windy. I have worn morino wool socks and even cotton socks with morino wool socks over those. I am going to try some Bama sokkets with sealskins socks to see if that does the trick. I don't necessarily want an arctic boot...too big, heavy, and stiff for working my pedal steering in the yak.

Theres a lake i like to fish, full of perch but I’m interested in targeting the bigger ones. I usually use a drop shot double rig with crawlers and it works great but ya get a lotta shorties. I’m gonna try this. Use a bobber to jump a jig off the bottom

I replaced my 12 ALL STAR fishing rods with DUCKETT fishing rods because they are so light. In 15 years, I have never had an ALL STAR fishing rod or guide break. Today I have 9 guides and 4 broken Duckett rods in 3 years. The worst thing is that I am from Puerto Rico and getting the guides is a challenge.

Did you reinforce anything under the deck after the pedal tray install? There is a cross beam that I noticed you’d have to cut in half and was curious if that affected the deck rigidity and stability?

ALL Minn Kota's are rated for approx. 3mph when they are matched with the proper boat size vs LB rating... meaning a 30lb thrust is rated for smaller crafts like canoes, dinghies, small rowboats, etc. and will push them at a max. of 3mph, approx., depending on load, current, and wind.

I'm 60 250 lbs. and paid $324.99 (I guess that would be considered cheap) for a Lifetime Stealth 110 with a 300 lb. float capacity from a Discount Store. I first tested it out getting into open water into boat wakes from the lake then went into a Cove to test my movement limitation on it and had zero problems. Loaded it with a Soft Pack Fish Carrier to use as an ice chest for drinks, food and fruit on the front, put a milk crate on the back to keep an anchor and rope in so that if I ever do turn over the anchor will drop out and keep the boat from drifting off, on the back deck I also have a 30L Unigear Dry bag with extra clothes, U.S.M.C improved bivy bag, sleeping bag, tarp, paracord, towel and some dry food. I keep my Lure bait box and a knife in the Hull Well and two fishing poles one in one of the back pole rod holders and the other in the front middle pole holder as I split the Paddles when fishing keeping one half in the other back pole rod holder and to Paddle with the other half. I haven't had one trip that I've felt concerned with tipping or flooding and I float big lakes and Rivers.

Your buddy is 260 lbs. No shit he shouldn’t be using a kayak that holds up to 275lbs. Mind blowing stuff here. Sams sells great budget kayaks that work perfectly for most. If you have a beer belly and weigh over 250, buy a bigger kayak.

Any kayak can flip. For a couple outings a year a cheap one is fine. Wear a life jacket, learn to swim, and use your common sense as far as water and weather conditions. All gear should be secured to the kayak unless you are willing to lose it. That's what bungee cords and rope are for. Sounds like you have no outdoor experience or sense. This video was a waste of time.

Don't listen to this guy. Go on some calm water, test your kayak out. If youre on flat water and not doing anything crazy, as long as its from a box store, it'll float and hold you. Go to walmart, get some pool noodles to shove into the hull to add buoyancy. buy a $5 seat cushion. buy an automotive sponge to get water out of your seat. bam youre good to go. he's talking about some intense fishing done from a kayak. if thats what youre planning, get a pontoon style boat.
