This song is a about the death of Roland's wife after a long illness in 2017. The song asks the question, when do you know when the person dying has passed the point when they are more dead than alive (The Tipping Point) I think it is very poignant that Roland and Curt chose to sing the song as a duet, if my memory serves, Curt knew Roland's wife from school before she met Roland. There's another song on the album about Roland's ex wife called Please Be Happy, Roland tried to record the song but often broke down trying to sing it, so he asked Curt to sing the vocal, Curt does a great job on the song. Best song on the album is Rivers Of Mercy.

And yet, Barry, said later, after 'Greenfields' came out and an interviewer was asking about the possibility of a volume 2 and what would be on it, that he would like to record 'Holiday' again as he was never satisfied with any of the recordings he had with his brothers!

I loved watching, 'Parkinson' , he was the best interviewer ever. He had the Bee Gee's back in 2001. This is also on youtube. I also loved the mix of vibrato's during the Carol.

I absolutely adore the twins. Robin is just so funny all the time and awkward. Maurice is so charming, has a wonderful speaking voice and he too, was funny but a bit more reserved.

Indeed, they were story tellers! Kind of like Mining Disaster etc. They wrote such great songs.

So wonderful! Every song just touches my heart, even today. I will be 73 in May, and I love them more today than when I first heard their beautiful voices. I can only imagine that Robin and Maurice are teaching angels how how to sing. It gives me chills and brings tears when I remember they are truly gone from us. Barry is such a trouper, carring on with his special memories of them. Blessed indeed! Thank you for your reaction here. Deme in Bama 😊

I remember as a 14 yo young man, transistor radio in hand, walking through my local park when this played. The year was 1979 and I was a Bee Gee sceptic to put it mildly… But something changed in that moment. Perhaps the reality of my stupidity in the face of greatness

Robin trying to "dance" is the funniest thing ever. Seriously though, Robin was such a nice person & sweet to his fans. I'm so glad I met him.

I've been researching the Bee Gees and have seen so many interviews. Maurice had such a wonderful speaking voice and was able to express himself so well. Robin stammered a lot and was not a good speaker and tried to cover that with his inane humor, BUT I just adored him. He was sweet and vulnerable. And Barry bore the twins nonsense with good brotherly patience (and had a little inane humor himself). Love the Bee Gee's.
@HeatherMyfanwyTylerGreeyАй бұрын
I think , Robin, had his moments when he was extrovert and more confident in expressing himself. His main nature was introvert, because in Mo's company ,generally, he would be their spokesman. If he was with someone he was comfortable with he interviewed well. Like, Michael Parkinson .

I just wanted to tell you, I don't remember which reaction I was watching but you mentioned your top albums and liked the newer music better. I feel you. Heck I didn't know they actually were around past 1979. I was at the 1979 concert Spirit Tour in Oakland California. It wasn't till 6 months ago when I found reaction videos on KZbin. Just letting you know you have great taste in BeeGees men. I fell in love with Robin in 1969. I was 9 years old. From the moment my mom played I started a joke I was hooked.

It was side A if im not mistaken. Bodyguard was supposed to be side B but they said it was too sensual. So wish you were here was opposite tokyo nights. I'm not positive but that's the story. The songs might be wrong

Van Morrison never has to cover a song but if he did this would be the one. Van the man would nail Spirits. Its almost like they wrote it for him.
