Tldw: One long infomercial for either their stuff or free gear they got. Flying in a cirrus that needs a parachute because it can’t recover from a spin but they all feel safe lol.
@ChaseAviation14 күн бұрын
Whoa whoa. First off, the Cirrus definitely can recover from a spin it just wasn’t certified to do it. Because it didn’t need to, because it had a chute. I think that was one of the few blunders Cirrus made. As I understand it, in Europe under EASA, Cirrus was made to demonstrate it regardless as a condition of type approval. Second, not really selling anything and certainly not making money on the merch. Just enjoy making videos and personal trips tax deductible!
@Steve-qn8gn14 күн бұрын
@that’s false, categorically. Fair on the video
@ChaseAviation14 күн бұрын
I looked it up. It was CASA (Australian) that initially required spin recovery but was eventually approved without further demonstration because of the chute.
@Steve-qn8gn14 күн бұрын
@ I think it comes down to why that chute is there. I think the fact they didn’t get the spin certification even though they have the chute says a lot. Why not do that so a customer doesn’t have to pay the ~$20k every 10 years to get it repacked?
@ChaseAviation14 күн бұрын
@@Steve-qn8gn Well, I agree it comes down to why the chute is there. However, it's NOT there as a substitute for spin certification. It's there for "peace of mind," and "safety." Over open water, night flying, mountainous terrain, unable to get out of icing conditions... you now have an additional "out." Believe me, I was very anti-Cirrus until I bought one. And I know of people that have inadvertently spun a Cirrus doing flight training and were able to recover. I do think that Cirrus *should have* sought spin approval in their certification process because I do firmly believe that it's capable of it. During flight training, the focus should be on spin prevention (always flying coordinated) and not on spin recovery if for no other reason than that fatal spins happen on that base to final leg where there is ZERO chance for recovery anyway. I feel like this may be a video I need to produce...

Choose a Phenom 100 or Premier 1? And why?
@ChaseAviation20 күн бұрын
Phenom for sure. Premier is a great jet but it’s very out of production, not well supported and has ancient avionics. Phenom on the other hand, especially sub $3 mil is tough to beat.
@srobak11 күн бұрын
@@ChaseAviation Thanks - I appreciate your feedback, but would like to question that reasoning a bit more. Collins has upgrade & support paths for the avionics - with several of them currently on the market already having been done. Engine support also seems to be solid - being used across numerous aircraft, and has slightly better burn and cruise specs. Is there something I am missing or other information as to Phenom being the better choice - or does it mostly hinge on the avionics? Is the Collins upgrade not a viable contender? Thank you for your time and knowledge.
@ChaseAviation10 күн бұрын
@ I’m not aware of a Collins upgrade for the Premier. They make a ProLine 21 Fusion cockpit that is in new production aircraft but to my knowledge it’s not available for aftermarket STC install. Engine support, if the engines are on programs is fine. The reason for my preference mostly revolves around hearing operators talk about their experiences but ultimately it comes down to an airframe that’s still in production versus one that has been out of production for a while. Embraer designed, built and supports their product. Textron nor Cessna designed or build the Premier. They inherited it!

Funny you mention that. I bought an Insta360 for this trip, in fact I used it quite a bit in these videos but never for in airplane stuff. Haven’t quite figured out how to mount it in a way I’m comfortable with you. But to your point… I’m sincerely over GoPro.
@sdedson14421 күн бұрын
I use their universal mount and slide into GoPro mount. I also use their microphone adapter which allows me to plug in power via USB C (external battery pack) and 3.5 plug to headset cable for all radio traffic.

Are you using the Insta360 X3 or the Ace Pro 2? I have the 360 camera version and while I love what it does, editing the footage it makes in multicam is kind of a nightmare.

Flying in Alaska is similar in that some airports have radio advisory available, and while they sound like ATC, they don't 'clear to land' etc. They simply provide traffic and weather information. When flying on an IFR flight plan, other than contacting radio, the approach is exactly like flying into a non-towered airport. Great video. Thanks!

Great video. Very entertaining. 👍 The list of airplanes to fly over water from best to worst and let’s just say all are good MX engines, for me is 1. Jet 2. Twin or single Turboprop 3. Twin engine piston 4. Single engine piston. A twin beats a single even with a chute because excluding fuel contamination which can be avoided the second engine will allow you to continue flying. The chute will help in a water landing but the flight is over. However if I’m having this conversation with my wife while over water in a cirrus, Cessna or Piper, I would list all the reasons why it’s the number one choice because passenger comfort is important. Lastly above all, the most important thing is pilot knowledge and experience regardless of the aircraft.

We've done the Fisk arrival 5 times now. This year was much better than last, both years we came in on Thurday morning, the morning after the first night airshow, a lot of the early arrivals leave after that. The change in the NOTAM, no Thurday arravals until after 8 am seemed to have really helped, once in line on the Fisk we got right in. Landed 36L, requested N40 and got it. We got a spot right by the Red 1 market and shower/bath house, awesome! We love the N40 because we like going to The Hanger resturant late afternoon, AC, good food and a cocktail! It was an interesting year, GAC seemed less packed, but show grounds were very busy, and the weather was perfect! I'll have to try the IFR arrival next year.
