Great Video! I own a P210 Javelin conversion. Flying with an experienced pilot like that is so helpful, he’s probably forgot more than most people know. I learned a lot just listing in. I wish I could see the panel more.

Yeah he is the MAN. I plan on doing more videos with Lou. Totally agree on the camera angles. I actually had a second one on board but could not come up with a non-permanent way to mount it. Next time!

Wow just looking around on KZbin and I get to see the plane I built. Loved taking it from a normal P210 to what it is now. Sure miss it.

Love the 210, it's a shame they don't still make it!
@ChaseAviation2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! They do make the 206 which is close in a lot of ways, just fixed gear and wing struts. Nowhere near as cool!

Awesome airplane. If I had the means, I would consider a move from my 182. Plus, I could listen to Lou all day. I am sure there is a lot one could learn from him.

This 172 driver would LOVE to get my hands on a P210 just once !! Great video. I've had a thing for those P210's since i was a kid.
@ChaseAviation Жыл бұрын
Do it! It flies a lot heavy and with a lot more power. You’ll love it.

@@ChaseAviation I bet I would. I've got time in a 182 and got to try out a T206 many years ago and I did well with those. I don't see many P210's here in Maine so even just getting a close look at one in person is unlikely. It's really cool that you can take an airplane from that era and do all those upgrades and mods to make it a bird that rivals a lot of the new stuff out there. You folks look like you do some terrific work!

Didn't fly a P210 after 172, 182, M20, but did fly the turbo 210. Was not a difficult upgrade. The Garmin panel and pressurization, along with the Vitatoe installation would add some to the challenge.

Great video. Wish I could have seen the instrument panel more especially when you were explaining things.

I agree. The really unfortunate thing was that I actually had three cameras with me, I just couldn't figure out how to mount one with a dash view.

I’d save up a bit more and get the Rolls Royce equipped Silver Eagle. Between cheaper fuel and more predictable maintenance cost over a 10 year period they cost about the same. My companies pt6 equipped Caravan has had very little unscheduled maintenance issues over the last 22 years between overhauls. If it has to be piston, this P210 Vitatoe Conversion is probably the best way to go pressurized on a “budget”. Great video of a well thought out conversion.

Why don't they ever show the metered Fuel Flow and the Cruise Altitude Speed? That's what everyone wants to see.
@ChaseAviation11 ай бұрын
It’s challenging filming in a new plane for the first time because you don’t know where the cameras can be setup. This video is a few years old now and I didn’t have the window mounts I really needed to catch a panel view.

i am 6'3" and was starting to learn in a 150. on my third lesson i requested a transition to a 210. big difference.
@ChaseAviation2 жыл бұрын
Wow. Yeah, I'll bet! An S or T model 182 would do you fine as well and save on op costs.

That P210 configuration is amazing......for those that can stomach the cost of maintenance.
@ChaseAviation2 жыл бұрын
They did a great job with it. I'd love to see a 210 with all the old avionics ripped out and new shiny Garmin everything along with the Vitatoe. That would be an incredible combination.

I own a P-210N with the TSIO 520. Wish I had the 550 although the 520 still does a good job for a great airplane.
@ChaseAviation Жыл бұрын
Yes Sir. They don't build them that good anymore. Which speaks to why the upgrade is even feasible.
@markmartin934617 күн бұрын
would only use vertical speed in climb if only climbing a couple thousand feet. Vertical speed while climbing has got many people in deep doo doo because vertical speed will try and keep that climb rate totally ignoring airspeed and will ultimately lead to a stall.
@lawsoncass33343 жыл бұрын
Just wondering why you climbed at 2600 versus the 2700 spec’d in the STC?
@ChaseAviation3 жыл бұрын
I guess I thought it was 2600. 31 and 2600. I will say it's very much a "numbers" engine and you need to operate it just as indicated but the AFM supplement was pretty weak. In fact, we were getting a COMP DIS OVERTEMP warning and didn't have anything in the supplement to address it. After discussing with Vitatoe, turns out we just needed to lean it more.

I was really interested in seeing instrument data during the flight. I am not sure if you weren't able to get the cameras set up or not. I heard you talk about settings and information, like "look at the Charlie Temps" but there was no video of it. In proving that the Vitatoe does what it claims, all I have seen are their videos and this one, and I was hoping to see real data from one of these aircraft. Thank you for the video though. I do know you spent a lot of time collecting video and then having to edit it. I was just hoping for more real data from one of these aircraft.
@ChaseAviation2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, totally agree. I had a second camera but couldn't find a good way to mount it that you would be able to see the avionics with. It would have required some level of permanence that I couldn't do to someone else's plane. I've gotten a bunch more cameras, including a 360 cameras and mounts so future videos will be much improved. What you really need to do is fly a Vitatoe and demo it!
@charlesabdouch30522 жыл бұрын
@@ChaseAviation Yeah :). My wife is OK on the Cessna 210 for my next plane, I am just wondering if I get a one that needs a new engine and do this upgrade, or find one for sale. Chances are i will get one and then upgrade once the engine needs a TOH
@ChaseAviation2 жыл бұрын
Chances are you'll be in a much better position if you buy one without it, runout and needing avionics, then doing the renovation. The "gotcha" is the old style engine analyzer... that thing is no good anymore. You need something else, in my opinion, Garmin but unsure if their STC will allow it. When the boss approves the funding, call me and I'll share some more thoughts with you.
